Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/17/2008 3:19:10 AM)

Thanks reach and Bethany!

How are things going with everyone?

MeganRenee -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/17/2008 11:50:43 AM)

I'm getting married in 2009, can I join in on this thread, even though it's 2008?

I think so. I've jumped in, and don't even have a wedding in the horizon. lol. I just like to see what everyone's doing! [:D]

MeganRenee -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/17/2008 3:01:33 PM)

Okay, cool! I guess I'll just let everyone know a little about our wedding. We've been engaged for several months now, and I've set a date tentatively and started planning. September 18, 2009!! One year from tomorrow [sm=funny.gif]We're thinking of having an evening wedding and a fun dessert reception afterwards.

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/17/2008 3:21:48 PM)

Hi MeaganRenee! You can surely jump in. When 09 comes around a new thread can be started but in the meantime...

Congratulations! Ooooh. Dessert receptions can be dangerous. LOL. Yum!

I know it! And I'm having lots of dangerous ideas...Chocolate fountains, a candy "bar", cookie table, etc. I think I'm going to have some fruits and cheeses also for those who don't care for sweets as well as some sugar free goodies for those who can't (or don't want to) have sugar.

We had a dessert reception also, and if we had had more time to plan, I would have loved to incorporate some of your yummy ideas!

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/17/2008 11:31:05 PM)

Hey MeganRenee! That is awesome my sister in law to be is having her wedding is September 19, 2009 lol Welcome to the wedding thread!

Yummy!!! I was thinking about the whole chocolate fountains but I also know they can get messy so *shrugs* lol

I am going to talk with the lady at the reception place, and my we are going to the wedding festival so we can talk with a photographer and so my fiance can see his work and maybe see about other ones...plus my sister in law to be is coming too!

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/17/2008 11:34:02 PM)

Things are going good here! We've been married 11 weeks! And no Japanese babies to speak of. [:D]

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/17/2008 11:47:42 PM)

Way to go nevaehs_gaze!! lol

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/18/2008 3:03:48 AM)

Our babies will end up being half Japanese NG. lol [:)]

Oh the candy bar. I also thought about doing that too but I didn't. Didn't really need to for our reception. They got the nice favors instead. Ha.

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/18/2008 6:20:12 PM)

Ok...so I need to get back in the loop! Who is getting married and what is the date? If you don't have a date yet but are engaged, let me know and I'll throw you on the list too.

Trish....pics are GREAT! Lisa should have the pro site up with all the wedding pics by the end of the weekend. Once it is up, I'll put the link on here.

There are some other pics on my myspace page too (follow the link in my signature). There are a ton of honeymoon pics too!

MeganRenee -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/19/2008 4:30:47 PM)

I don't think we'll end up doing all of the ideas I listed. Maybe one or two. I was thinking of having a candy bar and little boxes, so people can create their own favors. We're thinking that this option will save us some money (hopefully). But right now we're really just tossing ideas around.

Fluff- my FMIL just started her own catering business with chocolate fountains, and yes chocolate fountains can be a big, messy pain in the rear. But it's a fountain of chocolate...how can I pass it up [;)]

[:D] I know lol

I was thinking about getting those decorated fortune cookies and getting clear tiny take out boxes as favors... since he proposed with a giant fortune cookie I figured that might be awesome for favors...

I was looking at the local sale papers today and I am going by the craft stores and seeing what happens :)

MeganRenee -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/19/2008 11:31:27 PM)

That is a cute idea! Especially since that's how he proposed. (I actually awwwwed out loud[:D]) Are you talking about the ones that are partially dipped in chocolate and sprinkled with stuff?

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/20/2008 10:02:03 AM)

When I first seen the Giant fortune cookie I thought it was fake...but it was soo good... I have never tasted the dipped chocolate ones but I have heard they are very good so I have been trying to find deals on them but I was thinking about either buying fortune cookies and dipping them and decorating them myself and save alot of money... Or maybe even do This ?

yes I am talking about ones like This

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/22/2008 2:32:25 PM)

That's sweet Megan!

I like the cookie idea. [:)]

How are things going fluff? Find a venue yet?

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/23/2008 1:16:43 AM)

Things are coming together nicely I have church reserved and the reception place... I have my dress...working on bridesmaids but getting that took care of this week.
I have some of the decor for the wedding...and working on playlist and I am going to go with the Dipped chocolate Fortune cookies... I tried to make some of my own tonight and they turned out to be nice... so I am going to find some of those tiny take out boxes for them. I have a lady doing my cake just got to talk with her... and working on food list too...
and getting passports tomorrow... and then going to register sometime this week :)

MeganRenee -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/23/2008 9:16:42 AM)

Oh my goodness fluff! You sound super busy. I'm not anywhere near that point yet, but I'm sure I will be soon[sm=icon_smile_faint.gif] It's awesome that you are able to do the fortune cookies yourself, I'm sure you're saving a bunch of money.

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/23/2008 5:44:03 PM)

Right on fluff!

Glad to see the newlywed group slowly forming. Ladies, let's really get to know each other there. How about blogging an intro for yourself? Thoughts, prayers, etc...

MeganRenee -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/25/2008 1:17:03 PM)

Well, we're ready to find a ceremony site and reception site. Our church is too small, and it's still in a strip mall :) We're thinking of switching churches soon too. But I don't know when that will happen! We would like to get married in a church and we definitely don't want an outdoor wedding. So many churches require that you be a member to use thier church, and I understand that. We're just in a tough spot right now.[sm=sadquestion.gif]

Megan,

Some churches might allow you to use their church/pastor, especially if among the same denomination. When I worked at a church in AR, non-members were allowed to marry there, but the pastor required that HE give the ceremony (along with the premarital counseling). You might want to just start calling around. Smaller churches may be more accomodating (depending on what size wedding you want).

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (9/25/2008 2:28:05 PM)

I find it interesting that you have to be a member. [8D] They could at least charge you something. That would be better than not being able to period. Makes you feel oh so part of the community of believers doesn't it? lol Sorry.

I know some churches do it for the fact that so many couples want to get married there that the facility is a high demand. I think the more important reason is to ensure accountability of the couple to ensure they are actively involved in the Body.
