Yes, congrats! I see too you also posted on the engagement support thread. Here we can talk aaaaalll about the wedding. lol I figured that the other thread could be a place where we talk about our experiences in general.

Oh one of the photographers got in touch with me. We meet with him on Tuesday. He's pretty good and his prices are also good. So yay! lol

A mixture of all three.

Picked up my invitations today. It looks great! Now I am having someone print simple RSVP cards for me and well as mini maps of the ceremony location.

I haven't done the save the date cards yet and I still want to. I think for that I am going to get simple blank mini cards and just write it in.

Interesting a mixture of all 3 thats nice... ^_^

I think a good idea for RSVP cards is doing post cards, and placing them inside the invitation.
Postcards are cheaper to send off... It helps save money if you have alot of inviations...

Bump. lol

Ok so we had our appt. yesterday with the photographer! He doesn't believe in charging out of the world prices to people and most of his price ranges is in the various albums offered. But it wasn't hard to choose the top of the line album. LOL I mean, the difference between the cheaper ones and the expensive ones were huge. We are going with a leather album that has that triangle plastic insert on the side (to place a photo in). Our pages will be metallic pages. We went with that one cause anytime a bride has a bright white dress and backdrops of water (in our case it's the ocean) it looks ultra cool on metallic paper. The number of pages will really depend on the kinds and number of photos we have. But here's the cool thing...the album we chose is made in Italy!

Flower appt. coming up on Thursday!

I really have to decide how much flowers I want for the tables. I really want my individual ideas put together to make a great tablescape. I want something not overpriced but I still want the wow factor. I want the guests to come and say, wow, that's beautiful! lol The research continues.

Yeah, so we've been told, haha. I don't THINK it will be a problem though because we're just going to plan something small and simple... but we've never planned a wedding before! I hope it isn't as much as people say.

It really depends. I find that as a woman and as you are planning that you will want certain things. lol! So as simple as you say you want it, you may end up wanting beautiful things. BUT you can make it quite beautiful and still save money.

I find that it's not so bad anyway to be nicer if the wedding is smaller. First things first. Find your ceremony and reception location. For me, set your budget around wherever it is that you choose.

I would love to have a beautiful wedding - we'll only have one! But I also know that we'll have an extremely small budget as I assume we'll be paying for it ourselves - probably under $2,000. I honestly wouldn't mind skipping the whole wedding part and just be married. I usually don't do so well as the center of attention... but then, before we got engaged I was so sure I'd be nervous to wear the ring because of all the attention I'd get, but I'm not at all. I'm just thrilled!

I want to have a beautiful wedding too but I going to budget a lot because we also will be paying for most of everything ... besides I don't really want a huge wedding just small and lovely.

You'll end up figuring out what aspects of your wedding you want to spend the most money on. If food is the most important, spend most of YOUR budget on food. Food is huge for us so we are having the best at the location we chose.

One thing I recommend is to look at magazines for ideas and then see if you can do an economical version of it. It will mainly involved you making some of your own things. My boss at work is making my table card and printed menus. I am making a "slide show" myself and will rent a projector. I'll have a friend control it. Etc...

I have to sooo take a few pics of myself and John so that we can present them to the artist who is making a charcoal drawing for us. I'm so excited about that! Hey, I'm excited to see our cake design and can't wait till after the wedding when our album is made. That's the other thing. We decided that hey, if you are going to have great pics being taken then have a great album too. The extra investment in the album will be worth it cause it's higher quality will mean longer enjoyment of those memories.

I encourage you guys, even if you can't get something you want now, perhaps you can do it down the road. My boss never had a wedding. She just went to the judge cause she and her hubby were young and could afford anything. In two years on their 10th anniversary they plan to have the wedding they never had! I am looking forward to that. For me personally, I would really want a real ceremony, before G-d with family and friends to witness. It's kinda like betting baptized if you think about it. You are publically declaring your faithfulness through marriage.

So how soon after engagement do you start talking about wedding plans? I'm surprised with how many "do you have a date yet?" questions I hear - it's only been a little over a week! We haven't talked much about anything yet, let alone have made any decisions.

((((((fluff)))))))

It can get overwhelming, especially when you've got other stuff goin on. Fluff, I encourage you to take care of finding that job first. Don't worry so much about the wedding details or the date right now. Emotionally, it's so easy to want to get married asap. After all, it's such a happy time. But engagement is a time to prepare for the marriage first and foremost. The rest, the wedding is the icing on the cake. With all of the things you got goin on it's a wonderful time of testing to see how both you and your DF will do when there are things going on and when major decisions need to be made.

ng, just keep telling people that you have no date set. Eventually they will stop asking until bam! A surprise invitation. lol

Thanks Trish, your right thats why I am taking things one at time, as much as I want to be married to my lovely fiance, things are still falling into place...so thats why ive took a break and I am waiting to hear my results from my exam that could land me a full time job, if its Gods will, if not he has something better in store for me.

when I work usually their are some people that come in and ask and I told them and such but they always ask, they are old so sometimes I think they forget lol

Yeah. lol

The only reason I would rush a wedding is if I was really struggling physically to be with him. Even if it meant just having a ceremony and saving the celebration till later on...lol! Hey, once you know you do want to marry a person, that Scripture applies. Ok, I'm kidding, there are other factors too. Booooo!

Gosh I'm a little silly today. I must be feeling myself. Ha

I bought my centerpiece vases at Pier One the other day. It's a good size and square. I plan to use clear marbles to put inside so it looks like the stems of the flowers is floating inside. My co-worker is supposed to show me an idea he has for me. I also plan to put a fighting fish in each vase!

I got a fun idea for the reception. I talk about it in my personal thread in my link below.
