Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (5/24/2008 4:09:39 PM)

4 weeks. Whew! [:)]

That's great Sharon! I bet they look great!

Speaking of invitations, I'm sending mine out today! [sm=funny.gif]

sharonjef2007 -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (5/26/2008 5:22:40 PM)

ACK!!!!!! Trish....your sending yours out TODAY???????

My goal is to have them in the mail no later than July 1st with the RSVP date of August 1st for the August 23rd wedding.

Does that sound about right?

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (5/26/2008 5:38:21 PM)

Traditionally it's 6 - 8 weeks so that's fine. I have also heard that you can go up to three months.

Now only did I send it out early, I am giving people just two weeks to rsvp. I heard two weeks is good cause it makes people not procrastinate when it comes to rsvping.

dawntreader -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (5/27/2008 12:26:51 PM)

That makes sense. We gave our guests a month to RSVP and we definitely had some procrastinators.
I'm excited for all of you [:D]

That's exciting! Mailing out invitations is a lot of work, but after that is done it's all worth it.

Peter and I, just on May 16th, had a cake appointment and it went well. The people were very nice.

The place is called Rolf's Patisserie. (If I spelled that right).

Our cake is going to be so delicious... mmmmmmmmmm.

Well, it is going to be a connoli filling cake. So, on top, you know the icing, is going to be the usual, buttercream. And it's a light color buttercream. In the filling, there will be 2 layers of cannoli, and one layer of white chocolate mouse. The lady said those 2 really go together, and they do. I Can't wait!

Jessica

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (5/28/2008 2:34:32 PM)

Yum! Sounds good!

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (5/31/2008 5:46:54 AM)

I pick up my dress tomorrow! I'm having a friend do the alterations I need at the right time. I still have time. I have to lose about one more inch around my waist. It will be a bonus if my arms lost some too. lol

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (5/31/2008 10:27:56 AM)

Wow thats great Trish, I am still trying to work out myself and I started more things for my arms I want my arm to be little less jiggly lol

Also for a long while have been trying to grow my hair out...but how my layers are at the moment, I may have to cut my hair shorter now :/

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/1/2008 8:21:38 PM)

The dress looks great! Now I gotta make sure my DF doesn't try to peek at it. lol

One more inch. One more inch. Will go to the gym tomorrow![>:] ------> Me being strict on myself. Ha

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/2/2008 11:07:05 AM)

Thats great only one more inch to go, you can do it Trish!!

JesKlu -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/6/2008 12:28:31 AM)

You can do it, Above_All, you can do it!

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/6/2008 6:02:27 PM)

Three weeks from tomorrow is the BIG day!! [:D]

There's still sooo much to do! We have to send out the straggler invites - those addresses that filtered in after we sent the majority out, reserve a tuxedo rental, find my maid of honor a dress - why she's waited until NOW to go shopping is beyond me... finish the origami, find a cake topper, and make our final music selections. Sounds like not a whole lot has changed since I last posted, eh? Haha. It is coming along. BUT then there's the whole packing and moving across the world thing....... [8D]

It was tough to do, but I sent in my letter of resignation today. In a way, I'm even more excited about the trip now! I know God will provide for us. He is teaching us to trust Him more each new day.

Has anyone tried a sample of birth control yet, or already use it? I picked up some samples from the doctor yesterday - I'm a bit nervous about the hormonal stuff but figured I could try it anyway - and when the nurse found out we'll be newlyweds and are moving to Japan, she gave me a whole year supply!! I hope it works for us!!

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/7/2008 10:26:42 AM)

WOW just 3 more weeks! Just continue to trust in Him. Sounds like you have lots to do...I will be praying for you.

I have not tried BC, but I hope it works well with you. That was nice of the nurse to give you a whole year's supply though lol

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/9/2008 4:53:58 PM)

Wow time is going by so quickly! NG I am soooo excited for you! Japan here you come! While there, be sure to learn how to cook. I love the food in Japan. [:)]

As for BC, I waited too long to try it. If I go now I will risk gaining weight and I need to lose not gain. lol So FH and I will look for alternative means. Most likely tracking my cycle and barrier methods (including spermicide).

Looks like the engagement thread didn't kick off well so I suppose we can keep all engagement talk here. But has anyone gone to The Marriage Bed website yet? They have a forum there with a engaged couples section. Great site and forum. The people there are very supportive and most of the marrieds give lots of good advice to the engaged couples. I highly recommend it.

The rsvps are slowing trickling in! I have to bump it from 40 to 50 cause some close friends of my parents insist on coming. lol. Good thing 50 is the limit! Ha ha.

laughinggirl -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/9/2008 5:32:20 PM)

I second the Marriage Bed website recommendation. That site was a huge help to me when I was about to get married. It was nice to have questions answered that you just can't ask most places, and hear practical advice and experiences from others. It made the whole wedding night go so much better for me because I felt prepared.

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/9/2008 6:01:09 PM)

I've taken glances at TMB too over the past few months. I can see how it can be very useful to those looking forward to marriage. [:)]

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/9/2008 6:07:43 PM)

Above all, you mention you risk gaining weight because of waiting too long? I know that weight gain is a common side effect with hormonal birth control, but is there a time frame for which said side effect happens? I haven't tried any yet, but am planning to start after my next cycle begins this week - two weeks before the wedding. I realize that is not enough time to be fully through my system so we will be using other protection for the honeymoon, but is there a chance I could gain weight within those two weeks? I know everyone responds differently, but weight gain is something that concerns me. I've been counting on losing some weight in the coming months to fit into last years clothes, lol. I can't afford to gain any. [;)]

fluffmonkey -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/10/2008 9:54:50 AM)

I know BC causes people to gain weight but im not sure you would gain in 2 weeks... I think its more over time of taking it...plus your body probley will still be adjusting to the bc anyways...and plus weight gain doesnt happen for everyone...and if so it may not even be much...I think other factors go along with it as well

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/10/2008 2:52:47 PM)

Yeah I am not sure about the weight gain either and if or how long it happens. I just don't want to risk gaining right now only cause of my wedding dress. And if I am the type that would have side effects, I don't really want to deal with it right now. I would rather wait till after the wedding to explore the options.

Even if I wasn't doing FAM as a main means of birth control, it's still very interesting to get to know your body. And as far as condoms and spermicide, we wouldn't know if we would like it better than natural anyway since it's our first time.

I picked up my Matron of Honor's dress yeasterday. So sad cause after 28 years, the place I got the dresses from is going out of business. Time for the lady to retire. In fact, she is Japanese and is going back to Japan for a little while. [:)]

Since she is so busy and since the store is closing at the end of the month, I'm going to get the alterations done elsewhere.

nevaehs_gaze -> RE: 2008 Wedding Thread (6/10/2008 8:34:55 PM)

I want to use FAM as our main source as well, so I bought the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility months ago, and have been charting for two cycles. I was very faithful in doing it, until now. The first month went great, but the second was very sporadic, just because I've had other things on my mind and haven't been so diligent - not good! I've also been wondering about the use of charting... it seems to be only to predict ovulation, which is good to know if you're not one of those commoners who ovulate on day 14, but aside from that, I don't see it necessary for those who practice FAM for prevention. I'll still try to be better next month though! Can one still chart symptoms using hormonal BC? Perhaps I should ask in another thread? [:D]
