That window is south-facing, so we definitely need something to darken it.

you might want to look for soft shades (like roman shades) with a black out liner on the back....with that much light and it south facing it will be hard to get blinds to really get it dark enough during the day (at least, dark enough for my kids)

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/10/2008 12:45:40 PM)

I love the room!! Very pretty.

I need to get on the ball and finish up Isaac's room. I thought I had it pretty much done but I found an AWESOME deal on a "nursery in a bag" so Ibought it. SO now I have TWO sets of crib bedding. But, the bumper pads I made are tall so they didnt work well with the highest mattress setting so they will go into storage for later. This set had 4 wall hanging, a lamp, bumper pads, dust ruffle (though I'll use the one I made), crib sheet, musical mobile, and a little "baby sleeping" thingy to hang on the door knob. All for $50! Maybe I can get in there this weekend and get it done and post some pics.

Nursery Set

THat's really cute!!

Will you be able to change things out to launder occasionally? To the best of my memory, I'm thinking that nursery set would fit in with all your other decor.

Oh it fits PERFECTLY with my other stuff. So perfect I couldnt resist buying it. The colors and the dogs are a perfect match. Thats why we HAD to buy it. It was on clearance AND 20% off.

That's what I was thinking too...a shade rather than a blind.

Erin- I saw that set at BRU last night...but it was $80. Good buy!!!

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/10/2008 3:37:36 PM)

Yeah it was priced $80 here, which we decided was still a good price, but then it rang up $50, she gave us a coupon we didnt have.[:D]

purejoy -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/10/2008 3:39:20 PM)

Don't you love it when that stuff happens???

I could have used that last night! When we went to buy the bedding set I had a coupon for 15% off...only it wouldn't scan....because upon further reading it was for furniture, not bedding sets. Argh![:@] But since most of it was covered with cash and gift cards, we decided to go for it anyway.

Erin that is the cutest baby stuff I have ever seen! Oh my goodness and it is exactly like the other stuff you've already bought! That is super awesome!

Well as of about an hour ago, the baby's room is finally done!!!! I don't even remember how long ago I was in here asking about paint colors, etc., but I thought you guys might enjoy seeing the final product. As I was uploading these pictures and looking through them I also thought to myself it will be nice having these pictures to remind myself that there was one day where the room looked nice and picked up!

Erin, that's awesome and it goes with all your other things perfectly :)

spitzu -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/12/2008 11:17:42 PM)

purejoy, that bedding is sooo cute. Where did you get it?

29redballoons -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/14/2008 7:14:53 AM)

Wow, purejoy...the room is gorgeous...so soothing. I wish I was your neighbor...I would love to paint that bunny on your wall....it is such a cute pattern.

Yeah Erin on the matching, and on the savings!

purejoy -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/15/2008 3:03:40 PM)

Thanks for the compliments, ladies! I find the room very soothing as well. I haven't had time yet, but I want to just go sit in the glider and read!

Crystal, I got the bedding at Babies R Us- HERE is the link for it. It took me forever to find something I liked, and for a long time considered not even doing bedding, just colors. But then I found that set and actually liked it. I'm not big into cartoony-cutesy stuff...I'm just picky. [8|] The price is a little high as are most bedding sets, but we had enough gift cards, cash, and coupons that we only spent $20. So to me, that was worth it!

spitzu -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/15/2008 5:51:52 PM)

I know what you mean. I'm really picky too. There are so few bedding sets out there that could ever hope to see the inside of my home. [8D]

Mrs.Dawgfan -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/15/2008 11:23:35 PM)

Joining in very late but now that I am married with a place of our very own...

I need curtains! I don't sew and it's a one bedroom in an older home. So it has louver windows that are short in height with those old style curtain lines. I need either curtains with buttoned loops or those plastic loops. Anyone know of a good website that has these? Can you make them? I'll buy it from you. lol

Also, what do you think? Fake large plant or real? I need a tall one for next to my koa mirror.

HisCovenant -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/16/2008 9:33:43 AM)

This site has some of those curtains in different fabrics and styles. I have ordered from them in the past and always had good experiences. I've never had a problem to know how they respond to an issue... but getting it right the first time counts for something. [;)]

Decor-wise it doesn't matter if you do fake or real as long as the fake doesn't look too fake. What's important is the way it balances out the space. Personally, I'd go for fake because I don't have a green thumb... but if you can keep a plant alive, do whichever is cheapest.

I have also bought from this site. I have had good experiences with the company as well as product.

AboveAll,

personally I avoid buying anything required to be in sets in a department stores. I have had so many experiences spending time picking out the style only to find out they are out of stock on some or all of what you need. Not that you cannot shop department stores, but I suggest buying on line - because you know right away if they are available. If you need a close up - go to the store, perhaps you will go on a good day :-)

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/19/2008 11:38:36 AM)

Okay...here are a few pics from Isaac's room! Finally finished, except for the curtains but I have to get hubby to help hang them. And MIL is still working on the futon cover/quilt.

Wall over the futon
Hamper
Room Pack and Play will not stay there, it will move to the living room when he comes home.
Book Shelf
Crib Bedding...though I have changed the bumper pads to shorter ones for now

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/19/2008 11:47:07 AM)

So cute, Erin! (I have to admit, I'm glad you had a boy because all that stuff just screams BOY, not gender nuetral, lol)

I need to make Gabby new bumper pads, or put new stuffing in them... SOMETHING because they are SO floppy and get all squished down. She still needs them to contain her bippy(pacifier) at night.

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/19/2008 12:29:54 PM)

Well after I found out I was having a boy I went WAY more boyish. I probably would have probably went a whole 'nother route had Isaac been Elizabeth. I think I would have left the walls blue but put flowers and butterflies on them, kind of like a sky.

HisCovenant -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/19/2008 1:03:53 PM)

I've seen lots of parents make a not gender neutral theme into an acceptable theme for the opposite gender...ok, that made no sense [8D] so I will give an example...

I have a family member who decorated her little girl's room with frogs. She balanced it our with lots of pink & white and bows and ruffles. It's really very girly, but it's definitely a frog theme.

With a little creativity, Erin, you may be able to use lots of the same stuff if the second is a girl... I know you aren't looking to try super soon, but whenever that happens. [;)]

laughinggirl -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/19/2008 1:10:24 PM)

Erin, your nursery is super-cute!!! I especially like how you spelled out Isaac on the wall.

spitzu -> RE: Our Homes (revived chat about decorating) (9/19/2008 2:20:31 PM)

So I can go ahead then with the pink/brown theme in my nursery and somehow turn that boy-ish if we get a son? [8D]
