What is the focal dish for a Canadian thanksgiving meal?

Sorry Lap, I did not see this since then. It's a traditional one just like the American one: Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy.

Mine was sweet and simple, just like Jesus!

I hope that helps!

Thanks. That helps. lol.
Jesus ate fish on thanks giving day. j/k

This made me ROFL.

Jesus was smart to eat fish. Fish is even more healthy than turkey.

That's why I would love to learn fishing so that I can eat fish instead of turkey or beef or hamburger.

Thanks for the laugh. You really made my day!

Carl, I recently did a study of the moedim. That's the good part about being sick -- I get to study! Yea! But anyway . . .

I learned So Much by studying the year and laying them out on a circular graph! Wow, it was fun. Amazing. I am still working on it, because I am still learning, but I highly recommend doing this.

My study buddy and I spent a year and a half studying them.
And spent that same year and a half going over the Scriptures
each morning. With an understanding of the feasts, much more
understanding comes to light while studying.

This week we are going over the gospels from the Triumphal Entry
to the Ascension. Now, that is really confusing if you don't understand
the appointed times. Because it's really confusing when you do. LOL.

Anyway, it's turning into a pet project to reconcile the many discrepancies.

I think Hanakkuh is so close to X-mass this year that it will be hard to tell
which is which. lol. I like it better when there is four weeks between them.
Then, it's obvious which is which. lol.

Yeah. I particularly dislike it when Christmas ends up within Chanukkah. Just irritating to me, I guess.

Could it not be symbolic since Jesus was a Christian Jew?

Cloak, I hope I will not hurt you or anyone else by making a blunt statement, because my intention is not to hurt you or anyone, but our Messiah was not a Christian. He was a practicing Jew, all the way. So was Paul. I know that can be a neck-snapper, but that is the historical truth.

We can talk about that a little here, I think, since Carl has been open to all kinds of subjects, as long as people are kind.

You did not hurt me whatsoever. I strongly believe that we Christians should celebrate both Christian and Jewish holidays since our Lord Jesus was...a Jew!

I did a quick google to see what these were. The holy/feast days. But I only skimmed the page. I leave it to the "experts" to explain it better.

moedim = "appointed times"

God has an appointment book.
There are no christian holidays in it.

Those God made appointments are in Lev. 23.

It's a neck jerker for sure when the fact is realized
there is nothing christian about Jesus. lol.

I found this LINK dealing with contradictions. Seems a bit helpful.

Hi, Annie! I'm getting better. I am going to use this weekend to spend a lot of time in bed, however. I need lots of sleep. I am not getting enough oxygen or sleep, and I look simply awful. Of course, if I would ever bother to wear a little makeup, that would help, but the bottom line is that makeup just covers up the truth.

I've been missing you! Thought about you a lot yesterday.

Yeah, I should have known. You always have such a nice attitude.

Thank you -- I'll check it out.

What I had intended in my first note about the moedim was that it is very revealing when laid out mathematically on a circular chart. That was what caused a little bit of my own neck-snapping -- seeing them there on the circular chart, with specific details applied to each observance. The huge chunk of the year that has no moedim at all and the realization of what that means -- the concept of Pesach being first and the redemption of the bride, of the meaning of seeing counting the omer on that circular chart leading up to Shavuot, which is the ketubah and sanctification, the long time there before the Feast of Trumpets, when the groomsman announces the soon-coming Groom, etc. It has been a real head nodder, a smile prodder, and "G-d, you are so marvelous" statement-maker. It so astounds me, seeing it visually on that circular chart.

That's one of His ways of saying "I am G-d and you are not, so walk in my ways and be separated to what I have called you to do." He is so amazing.

I'd be interested in reading about that if you have a link which shows the chart and discusses this. Thank you.

I am still working on it, Resting. I am having too much fun doing it, so I keep adding stuff to it. I would imagine that someone has done this before and that there is something on the Internet somewhere or in a book, but I don't know. I have seen some very simple charts, but they were not laid out mathematically, so they did not show what I have seen when it is done in this manner.

Thanks, Abiyah, ... i love it when the work is so joyful! I did a quick search online and came up with a few items i'll read later. But so far, no actual chart. I look forward to when you may share some more at a later date.

I would like to. At this time, I am putting everything on the computer. I laid out the whole chart that way, so it should be easy to shre -- I hope. I am not very computer savvy.

Thank you! Hope they were good thoughts! Sorry about not being around as much lately. To be perfectly honest, it may have been partly because I started a thread that afterward I was ashamed of, embarrassed about, and just plain wished I didn't, and I think that made me not want to come back so much for a little while. Thankfully, nobody has seemed to post to it lately, so maybe it will just fade away.

but we enjoy your company Abiyah. Your are gracious.

In the meantime, they put up a sign up sheet for our work Christmas Party... I told them that I appreciate some taking the initiative but it is way too early for me to be thinking about it now. Actually, I most likely won't be staying for the party. I have family coming over for the holidays and family trumps co-workers. If we go to my husbands work party, it will involve driving a couple of hours and an overnight stay.
