Deb, these people are not of the faith. It's hard, I tell you, but the Lord will provide you with someone, but seek the kingdom of God, that is the best advice I have to tell you..

Deb, here are some questions I posted in another thread that can pose both great conversation starters and ways to tell if someone is of the faith. Might be helpful to you. "What has the Lord been teaching you in your devotions this week?" "What spiritual gifts do you feel like the Lord has given you and how have you exercised them lately?" "How do you feel the Lord wants to use you in furthering His kingdom?" "What are your top 5 favorite Bible passages/verses and why?" (a takeoff of Solomon's situation with the Lord early in his reign) "If the Lord appeared to you and told you that He would grant you one thing, what would you ask for, and why?"

Meeting other Christian singles. Hmm.... I just had an idea. I think a lot of christians wonder about this a lot. Not that there isn't any Christians around, but we don't know who they are and they dont' know that we are believers. I mentioned this is the past when I started making an effor to meet people (which I don't have much opportunity to do, being a single mom). I think we do come across with a lot of believers in our daily lives but we don't get to know them because let's face it, it's not something we openly talk about if we only meet them for a few seconds. How about we all give this a try. We try to wear our Christianity on our sleeve. I've been trying to do this by bringing a Christian book every where I go as I love reading. If I have 15 minutes to sit down, you can bet that I'd be reading. What better way to "advertise" that you are a Christian. If anyone around you is curious about Christ, it can be a good conversation starter. And if there's any christian single around, who knows, it could pique their curiosity. I'm trying not to be an incognito Christian. Not solely for the purpose of meeting singles, but also, this is one way to open up and share Christianity to other people who are seeking.

Excellent idea PH! Unforunately I never have 15 minutes to just sit down it seems. But it is good to be visibly Christian. I figure, on the outside chance that I see a woman in the right demographic, If I ask her out and she doesn't like that I'm a Christian then I wouldn't want to go out with her anyway. And if she likes that I'm a Christian she is more than likely to also be a Christian.

Whenever I saw another runner on the trail, I'd say hi, or they'd say hi, and we would automatically have this rapport because of our mutual interest in running. This can be applied to our search for Christian singles. I find it easy to approach someone when I see a visible sign that they are Christians. It's like there's an unspoken common bond already. I figure if I live out my Christianity, not just in deeds, but also in appearance, others would come out of the woodwork.

(yes i realize people will post you can't tell just by this but often if you're at the same church you have inside info on them). so true about being a conversation starter too!

Yes it is, but should we only talk to people in the church.

I have the same problem of trying to find CHRISTIAN single men. I'm a single mom of 3 and I really don't have the time or energy of playing the high school game of dating. I'd love to do a bonfire/get to know eachother kind of thing ( I even have a DVD projector that I can use outside while sitting around the fire), but I have no clue how to start. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone for suggestions that are already posted. May God bless you abundantly and keep you in in His perfect peace and grace........... Try going on Christian singles sites. Christianmingle.com. The web is a good place but you do run into people that exploit it or say they are Christian then actions show different. If you ever travel to Miami, Fl there is a great church I go to, Alpha & Omega. People there are after God first. They have a service on Friday nights for people in their 20-40's, so I would say a lot of single people go there.

I think the bonfire is a great idea -- I went to a bonfire recently and met several new people. You could add a Bible study and perhaps some games for when you must come inside. Once you get a activity started, you'll probably find that those people are connected to other Christian groups, and your network will grow.

I would not want to discourage you from this....I think it is a great idea in fact.... I just wanted to let you know that if you are going to approach churches with a flier, be prepared for some to say no. Not one of the churches I have been involved with would have done it, especially from an "unknown group with unknown untried doctrine" Go ahead and ask though, some may agree and If I think of a another way for you to advertise I will post it.
