yankees west coast games + me = sleepwalking thru work

Very funny. I love it when the Yanks play on the west coast cause then out here we sometimes get the games. I don't have that same problem though cause I usually don't have to work at the earliest is 10 and the latest is midnight. Man the boys are hitting the ball out of the park as of late. Can't believe Milkey made the catch last night. Watched the highlights on SC (ESPN Sports Center not the TSN one for the second time of my life). NO ESPN UP HERE

My sister went to see the Giants and the Tigers today. She works for AT&T and it was work related. She is glad she didn't have to pay for that game. She understands now why baseball isn't that exciting for me this year.

How bout King Felix of the M's yesterday (Or the day before I can't quite remember). He hit a grand slam off Santana and the mets. Can't remember the last time a al pitcher has hit a grand slam.

How bout the Jays last night. 21 Hits in a 14-1 whopping of the Reds. Also it was Cito Gastons first home game since becomeing thier manager. Looking forward to watching the Braves-Blue Jays series this weekend.

yeah it doesn't happen much especially since only 16 teams [national league] outside of japan even have pitchers bat. oh wait, high school teams still have the pitchers bat since they are such good athletes usually :)

My Yanks split their series with the Mets (I Think) but don't quote me on it though cause none of the games were televised up here but I woulden't be able to see any of the games though cause I was busy with other things.

The Jays have been playing well as of late. They have won 5 out of 7 after their weekend series with the Braves.

Yeah, it was a split. Pretty ugly one, too. Neither team is playing very good baseball right now.

My Yanks are playing horable right now. After their 7-0 loss to the Bo Sox last night they had a closed door meeting. Watched most of the game today till the rain out and turned on a movie instead cause u never really know how long those things go. But wired moment in the game though. Damon goes after a ball and the ball sticks on the wall for a second and drops back into the field of play. Damon was injured on the play cause he hit the wall pretty hard so lets hope he isn't out for long though

The Reds are playing a bit better now, after sweeping the Nationals over the weekend. But I'm not going to really say more about them until they come back from this road trip and the All-Star break. But things do look a li-i-i-i-i-i-i-i-tle bit brighter.

After pretty much choking yesterday, my Cards are playing much better today, up 11-6 (and threatening) in the ninth against the Bucs.

The Red Sox have also been playing much better, finally adjusting to life without Big Papi (who's slated to return on the 25th).

Did anybody else watch the Home Run Derby last night?! I was absolutely amazed by what Josh Hamilton did in the 1st round. 28 home runs!! And his pitcher was his 71-yr. old American Legion coach! How cool was that! But the best part of the whole thing was the fact that Josh got the chance to share what the Lord has done for him; saving his physical life from drugs and alcohol, saving his soul, and giving him the opportunity to get to the Major Leagues and play the game he loved so much as a boy. The talent he displayed in HS, which was great enough to make him the #1 pick, never left him during those crazy years, and now he gets to display it for the entire world to see - and hear his testimony of just what God has done for him. Steve Phillips, one of the ESPN commentators, said that for Josh to be able to hit major league pitching, after never going beyond short-season Class A ball, is nothing short of phenomenal. To which I say, "No, Steve. It's nothing short of a miracle from God!" It would have been super if he'd won the thing, but that wasn't in God's plan. He only gave Josh the opportunity to get to the Derby and give Him the glory for what He'd done . . . but that was enough.

Not to mention the fact that he saved the show for ESPN. If it weren't for him I would have turned it off halfway through the first round. BTW, there's a thread about Hamilton in this folder somewhere.

it was awesome. i did worry he'd exhaust himself but that really doesnt matter. as was pointed out many times, no one will remember who won, just josh's first round performance. great he got to give a testimony. i sure hope it doesn't turn out he was taking steroids :(

There's no way he's on steroids. Josh is subject to almost constant drug testing, because of his past problems, and whenever he does go out to dinner (he mostly orders room service or eats in the hotel restaurant), he has a guy that is his helper/conscience who eats with him at the same table. This is Josh's way of remaining accountable and clean. Just a little FYI.

I couldn't keep my eyes open last night. I got to see the first couple of innings and then the recliner sucked the life out of me. Not like it mattered in the end as the game went waayyyyyy past my bed time. And once again the NL can't seem to pull it out.

Guess I should have qualified my post.

Three times a week as opposed to maybe twice a year for any other MLB player.
