JoyfulWife -> RE: Would you pierce your baby girl's ears? (2/7/2008 10:53:45 PM)

Mine were pierced when I was two years old. Don't remember a thing about it, and I'm happy it's that way [:)] In my mind, it's like I was born with pierced ears since they have always been that way for as far back as I can remember. My younger sister's were done at an even younger age since mine went so well. I think she was like 1.5 years maybe. I don't think I would pierce a young baby's ears, but I wouldn't have a problem with a toddler. A baby wouldn't be able to understand the reason for the pain, and I would feel terrible about that. A toddler would have some kind of semblance of understanding about what is going to happen and why. I would love to get my dd's ears pierced as a toddler, but I don't think DH will go for it. He grew up in a no earrings family, and wants to wait until dd is "older". To him it's a thing for women because that's how he grew up. For me it's not, because I grew up thinking pierced ears were the norm.
