ORIGINAL: pumpkin manda, I'm sorry if you took what I said as condescending or something. I have never heard of the research that you listed, and it still seems really high considering all the charts that I've viewed.(and I've looked through many chart galleries as well as at my own charts, and those of friends) Although I'm no expert. I did get specific test numbers, and my numbers were *firmly* in the middle of what they considered a normal range at the time... although I don't recall them at the moment. It is interesting, but I'm not sure that it means much if your temps. are a little low.. that could also be normal for some people. hi pumpkin I didn't take it that way at all! I don't know whether low basal temperatures *are* just normal (without any underlying reason) for some people. I just do know that hypothyroidism and low basal temperatures do go hand in hand, and hypothyroidism can also play a part in infertility. The reason I posted was because it would seem a real shame if some of you TTC'ers were actually hypothyroid, because this could be playing a big part in their infertility issues:- Hypothyroidism and Infertility Another thing about the so-called "normal range" for thyroid function tests - they don't take into account Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is the weird name (sorry Mr. Hashimoto!) for an auto-immune disorder where the body produces antibodies against its own thyroid. A person with this could have a result in the "normal" range, but it would not be a good indicator of that person's thyroid function overall, because their levels can fluctuate depending on how many antibodies their system happens to be producing at that time. I notice that some of the women in this folder have PCOS - well, a number of hypothyroid women also have PCOS, so I do wonder if some of the PCOS women here might also be hypothyroid without realising it. Having been hypothyroid (with Hashimoto's) for 11 years, I have looked into this a lot, and just wanted to suggest to some of you low-basal temp ladies that you double-check what is going on with your thyroid, and perhaps ask to have your TFT redone (and bring the results back here), PLUS be checked for thyroid antibodies.
