Mrs.Wifey -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (3/26/2008 10:23:33 PM)

Just no Asprin, and I would avoid anything heavy duty like Percocet or Vicodin.

daughter_of_faith -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (3/26/2008 10:28:21 PM)

Ok...I haven't taken anything like that...although I was debating about the Vicodin tonight honestly. So I'll pass on it for now.

I don't know why they are doing a uterine procedure without an US....like I said...maybe they're presuming they did one a week ago...why do another one? But who am I to say?

Just went to bathroom & spotting has started back up some....so IDK...I have read that one can have spotting & pain for up to a week afterwards...

daughter_of_faith -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (3/26/2008 10:48:15 PM)

Anyway, I'm headed to bed. We all need lots of rest to conceive a baby, right? I'm praying this pain/spotting ends by morning as I have another full day of work tomorrow......

Well, it seems to be a period, so I guess that's good and bad... I'll have to hope that having a *very happy* Easter will do the trick. I was hoping to avoid another one so close to Christmas, but at this point I don't care anymore...

Jennifer--did your doctor have any advice for you? Since you had what appears to be a period, did s/he think things were okay then? You'll probably be testing soon if you think there is a chance of being expectant, correct? Sorry for all the questions....I just was thinking about you & curious how things are going.

Megan

The flow has been off & on throughout...so....most likely I would say we're out for this month (again). [:'(][&:][&o]

It could still just be from the procedure. Did you by chance take another pg test after your procedure to see if you are indeed pg?

daughter_of_faith -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (3/29/2008 6:16:59 PM)

I haven't taken another test yet. Not sure if I will--possibly Tuesday. I am in quite a bit of pain as well which didn't start until after the procedure.

The pain would be a normal side effect of them cutting away a piece of your uterus. You're cramping and spotting because your body is trying to heal itself...

If I were you I'd be taking another test, especially since the one before your procedure showed a faint positive.

daughter_of_faith -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (3/29/2008 6:20:37 PM)

Yeah, I need to....just don't really want to get my hopes up too high...if that makes sense!!!

I understand completely...but if it were me, I'd be thinking along the lines of not my hopes, but rather how I could make my body better prepared...esp. after having undergone a biopsy...but that's just me. [:)]

daughter_of_faith -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (3/29/2008 6:27:45 PM)

Yeah---I know. Part of it is the uncertainty of it all. With my son, I didn't take another test after the first inconclusive one until 2 weeks later. Then again, I wasn't undergoing testing, biopsies, etc. during that time period. There was no blood flow to mess with my thought process either. (In my mind, blood has always meant not pregnant).

daughter_of_faith -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/1/2008 11:12:54 PM)

Biopsy was normal...praise God!! The doc is scheduling me for a scope (through belly button) on either the 11th or 18th. He'll be taking out the cysts & whatever else shouldn't be there (polyps if there, etc.) Doc will also run dye. Not sure what else...but that's where we're at now.

lilyofthefield -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/3/2008 1:23:50 PM)

I'm so glad the bx was normal!

On another note, shouldn't they be doing the scope and dye (is it an hsg?) b/t AF and O? Won't those dates be after you have O'd? Or does he just want you to use contraception this month?

PrincessDonna -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/3/2008 2:38:02 PM)

Sounds like she's having laproscopic surgery, not an HSG. An HSG is done vaginally, and yes, is done the week after your period. Whenever I've had surgery or been scheduled for it, the doctor and hospital have been VERY thorough in making sure I wasn't pregnant first.

lilyofthefield -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/3/2008 2:50:19 PM)

I wasn't sure since she said they are also doing a "dye" test. I thought that might be the hsg. For both of mine they made sure it was before O. I wasn't sure if it mattered when a lap was done though.

PrincessDonna -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/3/2008 2:57:24 PM)

Maybe there's a way to an HSG, or something like it, during laproscopic surgery? Could be...they can do lots of things now.[:D]

They did with mine too. It had to be done on a certain day or they wouldnt do it at all.

daughter_of_faith -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/3/2008 9:49:20 PM)

I really don't know, ladies. That's just what the doctor told me. He didn't say anything about using birth control, etc. this month. I do have to make an appointment for the 14th or 15th (probably the 15th) to fill out paperwork & for blood to be drawn.

PrincessDonna -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/3/2008 9:56:59 PM)

They should also do a BLOOD pregnancy test the morning of your surgery. Don't let them touch you without it, because pregnancy shows up much faster on a blood test than it will on a urine test.

lilyofthefield -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/3/2008 10:32:14 PM)

What Donna said.

I would also ask at your next appt if the procedures would be safe for the baby if you did happen to be pg at the time. I don't know about the lap, but I'm sure the hsg should be done before ovulation.

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/4/2008 9:29:42 AM)

I was told that if pregnant an HSG would abort the baby. My radiologist almost didnt want to do mine since they had my cycle figured just one day different than the doctors (I spotted on evening then started the next day, so depending on how they defined it...) but they did it anyway, since we hadnt had sex in a while.

pumpkin -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/10/2008 8:13:16 AM)

I've been wondering about sperm and lubricants lately. I know there are websites out there where people say things like "it's been tested and found to be true that certain lubricants are harmful to sperm" but what I'm looking for is a study that's been done or some form of proof or something. I was leaning toward believing this until a specialist told us that all water based over the counter lubricants should be just fine. Now I'm perplexed, and want to do some looking on the subject myself. I'm at a loss though, when I type in things in google I just get general statements by people that wouldn't have done any research themselves.

Anyone know where I can find what I'm looking for?

clag4christ -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/10/2008 11:45:35 AM)

Are you meaning lubricants for yourself? If that's the case then you can use egg whites or preseed. Water based ones I would think would not harm sperm...you can also increase your intake of carrots as those help the body nautrally increase fertile cervical fluid.

pumpkin -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/10/2008 2:46:46 PM)

let's just say lubricants for making things easier sometimes... I don't know what other types there are anyway. =) We only need something once in a great while, but sometimes it's just plain necessary.

Um, yeah, the doctor said any water based ones would be fine...
I won't go the egg white route, we both think that's totally gross...

that's interesting that carrots help. I wonder if cooked or raw makes a difference. I am not too fond of cooked carrots, just once in a while.

While I'm in here...
We were given a brochure for a vitamin for men. It's called "Fertility for Men" by theralogix, and they said that they have had quite a bit of success with that formulation for vitamins for men. Anyone ever used that?

PrincessDonna -> RE: Trying to Concieve (TTC) Round 3 (4/10/2008 4:06:09 PM)

I'd say the water based may be fine for couples who are not having any issues, but if I knew my husband had a sperm issue, I might try the Preseed, just to give that little extra boost to the little guys.

Who gave you the brochure? The doctor? I do have a friend who tried for years and years and when the doctor suggested a men's fertility vitamin/supplement, they were pregnant within 6 months. He had a low count and mobility in the "before" tests. Don't know if that is an issue you are dealing with, but if you are and the doctor recommended it, it's probably worth a try.
