Hey Guys! Activity in the Kompound...yay!!

It has been a little busy around here. Kristen's birthday is today(I can't believe she's 20!!!) and she's having some friend's over tonight. And her boyfiend has been here visiting for a few days, so I'm on chaperone duty.

Shar Mar, what a nice post. I feel the same way. I've given thought the last few weeks to giving up moderating and kind of bowing out of forums for various reasons, but I can't seem to really do that! It's always nice to know that even when things are quiet and people are busy, when there's a need, we all come rushing in for support and prayers. That's something you can't take lightly.

Yep, Sharon, I leave Wednesday morning for Ga! I'm sooooo excited! Her birthday is on Thursday, so I get to spend it with her this year and I'm happy about that. Now if I could only decide which 10 pair of shoes to take

WHN and I are headed out for breakfast and grocery shopping. I had to bribe him with the breakfast to get him to help with the shopping

See everyone later!

Good morning Karlie, Kristen 20? Happy Birthday to her! Gee, it seemed just like yesterday that you were mentioning that she was 13 instead!

Last night I was remembering those Friday night parties we would have in our threads. Any of y'all remember those?

I miss them.

Life has changed since then; dramatically so for many of us.

Among us, there have been babies born, marriages, deaths, a divorce, various family emergencies, some personal emergencies among us, babies growing into children, children growing into adults and going off to school and starting their own lives; fiddle . . . even some of us going off to school.

We have rejoiced with each other through so many happy and joyous times, and have mourned with and supported each other through many sad and lonely times. We even said goodbye to one of us - rest in Our Lord's Peace, Sir Freddy Bear.

We have prayed for one another; for myriad of reasons.

We have encouraged and strengthened each other.

We have laughed with and sometimes at each other; we have teased each other for practically anything and everything.

Sometimes we have even disagreed with each other. LOL

And even through all the life changes, and even though we don't seem to have our Friday night parties any longer, I still remember those times and I think of so many of y'all throughout the day as I'm doing things.

I'm so glad Our Lord brought me to these threads, and I'm glad He did the same for y'all.
I cannot imagine what my life would have been like these past 8 years without y'all.

{{{Y'all}}}

Be abundantly blessed today.

Very, very nicely said Sharon-Marie.

I have been very much thinking the same thing. All of it, except the moderating part. LOL!
There are times now though that I am a bit more sensitive about certain things and have to give myself pep talks to snap myself out of it. Sometimes I just pure and simple feel out of it. But I keep coming in. Much to the detriment of my messy house. But then, unless someone comes to my door unexpected... I just don't give a rip.

Boyfriend???? Kristen who really didn't want anything to do with "that sort of a thing" for awhile???
Cool.

Oh and Karlie, was that a Freudian slip in your spelling? LOL!! I didn't really notice until I enlarged it.

I'm sure that is what WHN thinks of all guys who show interest in his girls.

Hey Y'all!

"Boyfiend"

Karlie and Sharon . . . I, too, have wondered if it was time for me to say goodbye to the threads.

But, for the moment, I'm here . . . and y'all are stuck with me.

I truly hope that I will be stuck with the two of y'all for more time to come er, the both of y'all will stick around this madness.

But Karlie, I can understand stepping down from moderating.

Kristen is 20????

I didn't think you were old enough to have such grown-up kids, Karlie. Time flies, doesn't it?

Happy Birthday Kristen!!! I hope you get some of this for your Birthday.

Oh yea...he's convinced that God has yet to create two guys worthy of his daughters, but he says the ones they chose "will do". How nice of him

I just made her red velvet cake for her birthday and the house smells all nice and yummy. I've managed not to any of the eat ice cream, Doritos, or Oreos that have been in the house all week, but all bets may be off with the cake!

Boy, it would be all bets off on the cake if it were me too!! LOL!! I could go for some cake right now. Haven't had for quite awhile now.

The ice cream, Doritos and Oreos I could pass on... if I had to.

I have been eating, every single day, cucumber and onion marinade. I actually think it is helping in weight loss. I have also been drinking tomato juice often.
But tonight... I am dreaming of steak. *sigh*

Hey Sharon!

I've been watching it this summer too. I've lost about 15 pounds and working on keeping them off!

What do you marinate them in?

This is my new cell phone I got yesterday...mine died. I've been going nuts today trying to learn a new one all over again. I am so technologically challenged But, I think I finally have it figured out.

I marinade in vinegar and sugar basically. But it works within one hour or so of making it.
Probably not the best thing but hey, I like it.

Don't you have an "aversion" to cucumber? Or am I thinking of the watermelon tasting like cucumber.?

I also have been eating more chicken, no skin, and salad. Although, I kinda took a break from tossed salad last week and just ate whatever veggie came to mind alone.

The hardest, hardest thing for me is to limit bread. It is just so convenient, quick, filling and good tasting. I have been trying the different breads of the Sarah Lee line. I particularly like the Oat bread.

Right now, I am dying for a pizza though.

Oh, and cute phone. I still am really ignorant when it comes to cell phones. LOL!

A little of both. lol. I do like it marinated, I found out, in small amounts. And I eat them on the veggie sandwich I get at Panera, if they don't put too much and slice it thin enough. I can't eat them plain though...that's when they taste like watermelon rind to me.

I agree, the bread is hard to give up on. Those, snack crackers, all of it. I try to stay away from bread products when I'm behaving. We did have pizza last night though.

It's really harder for me to do pizza I really like or prefer unless I have it with other people. It would just be a waste to order because I usually only eat a couple of pieces or so and there are very few that I like reheated. I could go to Rocky Rococo and get pizza by the slice but I have to be really kinda desperate to have theirs over some of my favs.

I'll survive. LOL!! I could always call my sister or niece too bit I want pizza, not company. Know what I mean?

Ironically I will eat pizza by myself and then have the leftovers for breakfast instead.

Well, if I ordered a Papa John's...that I would reheat the next day. But I don't want one bad enough to order delivered and pay extra because I tip well, or to go and pick it up. So... I will eat some fish and cole slaw from last night. I do have chocolate for back up too.

When we were in Indiana we had Papa Johns, it was fairly decent. The Hawaiian pizza was a disappointment though. They put barbecue sauce on it! Around where I live they do not have a Papa Johns at all, I just order locally instead.

Sharon, I understand about the pizza. I don't really like it reheated or cold, so a couple of slices when it's fresh is all I eat. WHN and Kristen adequately take care of the rest. They like getting enough for leftovers the next day.

Hey Mike

Hi Karlie!

Well, the extra cheese pizza that I ordered was just a little too cheesy! Oh well, at least my toothache is gone, for now anyway. Yes, I know, I should have scheduled a dental appointment already!
