Thanks Shar Mar. I've been teary-eyed all day. I love having her home and am going to miss her. But I know she's ready. I'm the one who isn't. Good thing school starts the next week to keep me busy!

((((Karlie))))

I'm glad she won't be more than that hour or so away. I just told that to Josh and Anoush today over lunch. That I am grateful that an hour or so is all that separates us... especially for this year or so. They are still within my reach without major planning. That gives me a security.

I was telling them that I would love to take some of the MAC seminars that happen. Like Mac college in a way. That stuff never comes to little ole Fond du Lac, but they do come to Milwaukee. So Anoush said hey! You could come stay overnight and go to something like that from their place. I just want to get more under my belt that I could make some money from home too, also, in the future.

Glad you got the book. I know it will be some heavy reading but would like your take on it when you finish it.

I glanced through it, but haven't started it yet. I did glance through it enough to see it was heavy material, but I think it'll be valuable information for me. I'll let you know when I really get into it! I plan on it as soon as we get Kristen moved and settled. Right now, we're shopping and packing. Fun stuff!

Hope that goes okay.
I hope Josh and Anoush will have some help with their moving. I know of a couple of people that will.
I felt bad for Anoush today as she sounded like she is coming down with a cold or something. She says she still has energy, and that's all that matters to her right now.

When they came today they gave me a gift. I'm like "what is this for?"
Here it is a very pretty marcasite watch as a thank you for all they say I have done for them. Isn't that sweet?
Anoush says..."as you know, you are hard to buy for..."

LOL!! I thought that was so cute! But she knows I like watches that also can pass as a functional bracelet.
She picked something that isn't overly fancy but pretty, as I don't really go places that I could really wear a REALLY fancy watch.

Awww, Sharon. You have a very sweet daughter in law. I hope she feels better and has lots of energy for their move.

Kristen and I are moving whatever we can fit in the car up Wednesday morning and getting that stuff unpacked and ready, then WHN is bringing the heavier stuff after work. Her apartment is upstairs, so it should loads of fun

WHN is funny. We have this dorky thing we do when he calls me on the phone. For awhile last winter, I kept getting wrong number calls to my phone from someone with a very heavy Spanish accent. It finally stopped, but now WHN calls me Maria and says "hola" in the most horrendous accent ever whenever he calls me So, I started calling him Jose. Today he said(in the same horrid accent) "This is not Jose, this is Juan...Maria, you have some 'splainin to do" LOL! It takes little to entertain us

Sometimes when Larry calls I answer the phone like my mom does, drives him nuts. Mike just hangs up on me when I do that.

And Sharon, I agree with Karlie - Anoush seems pretty special!

lol Shar Mar. Me either.

We've been shopping like crazy the last couple of days though, getting Kristen all set up for her apartment. I totally forgot how pricey that can be! Other than the linens and storage things we bought for the dorm last year she needed everything. Post, pans, dishes, toaster, utensils, spices, cleaning supplies, etc. Oy. We've done really good finding sales and bargains though. She will have no livingroom furniture, but she will be able to feed herself and clean the place up!

And just think how much easier it will be to keep it clean without all the furniture in the way!

My last move (here, to PF) was such a nightmare, that I have decided that when I move again, I am going to get rid of everything except some CDs, my clothes, jewelry and art supplies (oh, and all those goofy files that one has to keep for 7 years). The rest I am going to sell or otherwise donate, and start all over again.

Seriously.

Karlie, when's the moving date, again?

I can't blame you Shar Mar. Some people say it's easier to get rid of furniture and replace it rather than to haul it across country.

Wednesday. We don't have that many heavy things to move. Right now, she just has her bed, dresser, 2 desks, computer, book shelf and all her boxes of personal and kitchen stuff. Her room mate is bringing her bedroom stuff and a dining table and chairs. They have a couple of beanbags they are tossing in the livingroom for now and plan on shopping for a futon soon. They are more worried about getting their rooms, study areas and kitchen set up. I think that's good...the livingroom can wait.

WHN is thrilled...they live on the second floor

Do they have balconies that young men could reach via ropes?

They sound like they are going to be great roommates. And I had to grin about the study area part; they definitely have good priorities.

Who is moving all the heavy furniture?

Actually, aside from a trunk, a coffee table and a butcher block-type table, I don't even currently own any furniture . . . I gave it all way a couple of years ago.

But I sure don't want to go through the hassle of hiring a moving company again . . . and since I don't drive, that pretty much is my only viable option.

My plan is to ship whatever I'm keeping via UPS and then just board a plane. And given my minimalist tendencies, I'm sure it would be quite cheaper than what I paid to move last year.

I remember when we first moved to TX from Alaska....while waiting for our furniture to arrive, our living room furniture was lawn furniture. You know, the webbed folding chairs and chaise lounges.....it was pretty cool for a couple months. We kids loved it.

Did you rent your house furnished?

They are great friends and roommates. They roomed together last year in the dorm. She's a Christian girl too and they just really get along great and really understand each other. I often remind her that God totally blessed her with Ambur. She would have gone nuts if any of the other 4 suitemates they had had been her immediate roommate.

That would be WHN! Kristen and I are taking what we can fit(and lift) in the car that morning and getting started settling her in, and he'll bring up the bigger items in his truck later that afternoon.

That's cute, Beckey!

I'll mark Wednesday down on my calendar to remind me to pray for y'all during the move.

I did. I did the same thing with the condo that I lived in during the year before I left Jackson. When I left the house that CS and I lived in, I didn't know if I was going to move to another state then or what . . . and I didn't want to go through all the hassle of moving the furniture into storage and then moving it out of storage once I figured out where I was going to move.

WHN's moving the bed by himself?

It's just a twin mattress set and bedrails...he can handle it! I can help him a little...if it's not too heavy.

Oh! I was thinking it was larger than that. Yah, he can handle it.

Well, she actually has a Captain's bed he built her(he built one for Britt too) with built in drawers on each side. It's a pedestal type bed and is really nice. But the thing weighs a ton and is a nightmare to move because it's so huge. He doubted he could even get it up the narrow stairs there. We decided that would stay here in her room for visits home and we'd get a normal bedrail and mattress set for her apartment. I'm sure she'll be moving several times before she's settled someplace more permanent and he wasn't about to sign on for moving that captain's bed a zillion times!

Moving house is not something I enjoy. We're not minimalists. John and Joan have things from when they were first married, 33 years ago. Joan also has some things that she's had since a kid. Like a couple of tables her dad made, her mother's sewing machine etc.

I am so not looking forward to the day that Andrew and I will move. I'm beginning a thorough cleaning out of the house and getting rid of at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the stuff I have. It's going to be difficult to let go of some of it, but I don't want to move tons of junk on the day that we do move, whenever that may be.

I'm planning to have a yard sale along with my former roommate Marcia and anyone else I can find who'd like to participate. It'll probably be near the end of September.

I'm going to use the Mount Vernon method from messies.com - three boxes - put away, give away, throw away - and go through an entire room at a time. Of course, some will take much longer than others!

Yay to less junk! It'll be nice to not have so much stuff and to be able to enjoy and use what I do have :)
