That is sad that one of Britt's kittens died. I have been watching foster kittens all summer for a local animal shelter. I have heard that it is not uncommon for some of them to die. I am glad that has not happened to me so far, because I would be crushed.

Sorry to hear about the rental car.

School here starts on Monday the 25th. My husband is taking political science, and the name of the book is literally Am Gov. Uhm, I am thinking a class that picks a book with that name can't be very hard.

lol! Good thing it wasn't for an English class!

School starts here the 25th too, but my first classes are the 26th. I'm not looking forward to 10 hours on campus, but at least it limits my driving up there to 2 days a week. Most of my classes are 4 credits, so 2 hour lectures 2x a week. I'm thinking I'll enjoy most of them though. I have Intro to Counseling, Family Counseling, Personality, Social Psychology, and Behavior and Cognitive Change. Lots of work, but stuff I'm very interested in. I'm finally getting into the real coursework for my major.

I'm trying not to stress over the car thing, even though I am. I have no idea what this could end up costing me

I'm off school until Sep 15th. Then the real work will begin. I'll have to be much more vigilant about working on the stuff and not putting it off until the weekends.
I still have an online exam to take and two papers to write. One is due within 10 days and the other is two weeks.

There must be an appeal process about the car thing, Karlie.

I can dispute the claim, but all that does is end up in court. I don't know that I want to deal with that. I'll find out tomorrow what the total charges are., and if my insurance or credit card company will handle "misuse". Now I am very sorry I didn't buy the optional insurance. I most definitely will in the future now matter what it ads to my bill. It just never occurred to me that I could be held liable for something that wasn't even my fault.

They would have to prove it was your fault. They can't just accuse you and demand money. Something is very weird about the whole situation. Is it a nationwide car rental place?

It's Enterprise. I have rented from them several times with no trouble at all. I know somewhere in the fine print is that I am responsible for any and all damage incurred while I have the car, so I can't imagine it would really work fighting it too hard. The car was under warranty, but the dealership negated it because it was considered intentional damage and not anything wrong with the workmanship of the car. It makes sense that the car rental company will be looking at someone to cover their expense of having it fixed. Unfortunately, the car was in my name during that time, and that makes that someone me. I just thought they would investigate it further and check into the place I bought the last tank of gas from. But apparently, that's not their job...that's for the insurance companies to fight out. I'm just hoping my insurance will cover it, or the rental coverage on my credit card. We'll see. There is no way I can take it to court anyway...it would cost more in lawyer fees than just paying the damages.

It was considered intentional? They think you did it on purpose?

No, but since it wasn't a car accident, it falls under the category of vandalism and misuse in legal terms. At least to the car company. I'm hoping my insurance will see it differently! I have a call into the claims department, so when they call back, I should get more information. I also called the car rental place back to find out exactly what happens if I dispute it. The woman handling it is out of the office til tomorrow, so I'll have to wait for her call back. It's very frustrating and not what I needed right now.

Find out if anybody else is being hit with the same problem. Here, it was on a news programme that sometimes companies can sting more than one person for the same thing.

One guy took photos before he got in the car, and when they did that to him, he took the photos in to show them the condition of what it was like before and after to prove he didn't do it.

The problem here is, all the damage is internal. There is no visible damage to the car at all...it still looks brand new. It's all in the fueling system which can't be seen. My insurance company is looking into it now.

Britt lost another kitten Tuesday night. She was actually there when this one died. I felt so terrible for her. She came down to check on them in the middle of the night(they all had vet appointments for Wednesday morning) and said it was having a hard time breathing and seemed congested, so she took him to the bathroom and ran steam in there. She said it helped at first and he started moving around more. She took him to the emergency vet right after that, but he didn't make it. The rest of them(and mom) went to the vet the next morning and two of the remaining five kittens have colds that has turned into bacterial infection. He said he thinks they caught it soon enough in the others, so they are on antibiotics twice a day. She said they are definitely active and she thinks will be fine. They are all starting to toddle around now and not stay so close to the mom. She said they start toddling over to her when she comes into the room.

We moved Kristen into her apartment last night. It's really a nice little place. Much nicer than my first apartment! Her bedroom is the only room(other than her roommate's bedroom) that is fully furnished at this point, but it's enough for now and look really great. it was a little sad last night to come in and see her very empty room. The only thing left in there is her old bed, but that's it. It seems very quiet today too. I know I'll get used to it, but it sure seemed to come fast.

Awww that's horrible about the other kitten, Karlie. I sure hope the other ones come through ok, and Britt too.

Is a little shoe therapy in order?

So can they explain how you could have intentionally damaged something in the fueling system?
Sounds to me like they're really reaching.

Aww, {{{Karlie}}} . . . it's been a yo-yo week with the girls, hasn't it? So many mixed emotions.

I agree with Steve - go out and buy you some shoes. A couple / few pairs of Birkenstocks outta fix you right up.

Still hoping for a good outcome regarding the rental car situation . . .

Even that doesn't sound fun With being gone for 2 weeks, and all the shopping we had to do for her apartment and the moving, I am not leaving my house unless I have to for the next few days!

Yea, it's been a very yo-yo week in a lot of ways. The girls, this stupid car situation, other things I'm trying to resolve. I know God has it all in control but I feel a little overwhelmed at the moment.

Thanks James

One word, SHOEMALL

Karlie, I don't know what I can say to encourage you with the car situation except I'll pray. Did they tell you yet how much they consider the damage to cost?

I haven't heard back from them yet for the exact dollar amount. The letter just states the fuel pump. WHN said if that's all they are holding me responsible for that shouldn't be more than a few hundred dollars. I'm assuming the letter would have mentioned the engine if it extended that far. Maybe they were able to flush it out and it's fine now.

This commercial is totally Kristen and her roommate! Well, not the silly dancing, but the room styles. Kristen's room is all black and gray and a few touches of deep blue and purple and silver accents(frame, lamp, etc) And her roommates room is bright orange, red and yellow. It was the same last year when they shared a dorm room...one side was monochrome and neat as a pin, and the other side was a burst of color and a total mess!

She really does. God definitely answered that prayer. We couldn't ask for her to have a better roommate.
