I never naps unless I'm sick or it's been several days of little sleep. That's like two mornings in one day...too much for me! WHN loooooves his nap though!

A Sunday afternoon nap sounds so peaceful and relaxing...no such luck today, though. We had a baptism at the American River after service today, and after that I stopped at a thrift store and found 5 Hosanna Integrity praise and worship CDs for a total of $15! I was just telling Andrew the other day that I wanted to find all of those on CD. Those were some of the first Christian cassettes I had after I became a Christian in 1988.

I've just finished spending the last 4 hours cooking...Chicken Monterey and a Midsummer Vegetable Risotto. That's going to be our lunch for the week. It's all in the freezer now :)

Karlie, 60 minutes is doing a piece on how Japanese and the tuna. It's kinda funny really. They massage and talk to the tuna as they are cutting it up.

Just thought you would like to know.

I do that with Starkist.

I had a bunch of those too and replaced them on CD years ago. I don't listen to them now, but I used to play them non-stop when the girls were little. They just seemed to fill the house with peace and I loved hearing Britt singing songs of praise. That was also when we were all just learning to cope with my niece's terminal illness and my brother's suicide attempt, and I clung to those songs because of all the scripture in them. Later, when I listened to them, they were more associated with sad memories I still keep them though, and pop them in every once in awhile.

Carole King just sang "You've Got A Friend" That is one of my all time favorite songs. Sung by her and when it is sung by James Taylor.
Showing my age, I know.

And my age too.

When I first had the eight track player installed in my car in high school, I listened to James Taylor (Sweet Baby James), Carole King (Tapestry), Carly Simon(Anticipation) and Elton John (Honky Cat) until I wore them out.

Yeah, she wrote some pretty terrific stuff. And you know, I'm not sure I have any of her albums. I may have one but I should see if I can find a hits CD.

I highly recommend The Living Room Tour. A 2005 live album that has almost all the hits on it. And some fun and interesting monologue.

I own Tapestry on cd too. I held on to the vinyl for a long time, even when I didn't have a player anymore. I had Sweet Baby James and Anticipation, too.

I never find out about Carole King being on PBS till it's over. :(

That's understandable, Karlie.

Swings is even a bit early for me. My internal clock is really more suited for graveyard shift (and always has been). The supervisor that I was just under (and the rest of the shift) just rotated to the graveyard shift, though. I can't take that anymore. I am on days now, and I start Tuesday. I have better days off, work with better people, and I can finally have a social life now. Swings kills my social life.

What sort of job do you have?

I work at a 24/7 call center. For most of my time there I have been on swing shift and my day off were in the middle of the week. I felt like I never saw my husband, because he works days with Sat/Sun off.

I, like you, have an internal clock more situated for swing or grave. I have a hard time getting up before 11 AM now a days.

I'm a 911 dispatcher. My days off now are Sundays and Mondays. I'm pretty excited about that. I haven't had weekend days off in a very long time.

I got Friday and Saturday off at the end of July. It was rather glorious. Now I am off Sundays too since I went down to part-time.

Yah, but they told me I will have to pick up one of the weekend days when it gets closer to Christmas. I am not going to remind them though. Maybe they will forget about me.

Hey Guys! I hope everyone is having a good week. I'm coming down with a cold, which is not fun. I can't miss even a day of school right now, so I started downing the Zicam tabs today hoping to keep it at a normal cold and not going into the whole bronchitis/asthma thing.

Last night was my first of four counseling sessions with a grad student. Oy. I know they need to be evaluated on their counseling skills before they can graduate the program, but the whole thing is just so strange. She was very, very nice and I can see enjoying talking to her on a normal basis, but she is also all of 24. There is no way she can even have a clue into some of the things I was talking to her about last night. I could see some of it on her face even though she was doing her best to be empathetic. And, now I have to come up with some other topics for the next three sessions. I certainly don't feel comfortable getting into anything very deep in the setting in which they do it. Oh well, at least she is nice and it wasn't too uncomfortable. I just wish they had assigned an older grad student with a little more life experience to me.

But, it did give me a chance to have dinner with Kristen last night. I had an hour between class and my session, so we grabbed a quick dinner and got a chance to talk. She's really settling in well, and has even found a church near her apartment that she is really liking. She and her roommate are joining a Christian girl's sorority and they are having so much fun with that. She went to the first meeting expecting not to be impressed, but she likes the standards they set and said the girls in it are very genuine and supportive, so that's cool.

Okay, back to homework for me. I have my first test tomorrow, then three the following week

Praying the cold is gone, Karlie.

I just finished reading Robin Jones Gunn's latest book "Peculiar Treasures" yesterday. It's the first in a series about Katie Weldon, one of Christy Miller's friends from the Christy Miller series. Katie is in college now, and you talking about Kristen reminded me of the book. I pray that Kristen and her roomie have wonderful experiences like those of Katie Weldon, and continue to grow closer to God each day :)

Awww, thanks Kimmy Kristen seems to be making wise choices with what kind of friends to make and get support from. I hope that really helps her in her walk with God. In some ways, it's a new walk since it's now on her own without Mom and Dad there to help her along.

Poor thing got the shock of her life this weekend though. Her boyfriend proposed She was just not ready for that and it totally freaked her out. She said she thinks this is who she wants to be with forever, but they've only dated for 6 months, and she's just not ready to make that kind of commitment, especially with all the other changes and adjustments she is making. She wants to get through school first and see how they handle being at this level long term before she's ready to commit to more. I felt so proud of her for just being honest with him and not feeling pressured into accepting the proposal. She said he seemed to understand and didn't take it personally. WHN is ready to go "thump on him" I believe his words were.
