Guys, I was at Kohl's last night. this is a scary thought man. tight pants and jeans are coming back! Not only is it uncomfortable, I think it looks totally gay! DOn't you agree? and God forbid it if Magnum PI shorts become envogue again! I was out and about one day and i saw a bunch of high school kids at lunch. A lot of the boys were dressing "Emo". A lot of the boys today act girly. sure you can tell they are guys, but there mannerisms are somewhat feminine. and I'm not talking guys that are necessarily gay. brother, I've even noticed straight guys acting that way too! I guess it's called Metro. A sister in Christ whom I'm friends with even told me that a lot of the young women today date "femmie" men. brothers I'm not trippin that bad. but hey, it's a trip man! dont' you agree? personally, i wouldn't wear tight pants if I was paid to do so.

aside from that, yes i agree totally.

its a trend and like 99% of trends its stupid. period. just for being a trend alone its stupid much less how gay and whiney it is

I think the metro thing is pretty weird. Fortunately it's not in my age group.

It's for attention and to make a statement. Most of us went through a phase like that. My generation was bell bottoms, tight pants, deep v neck shirts, tie dye stuff. We sometimes even sang along to Michael Jackson songs. [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]. Scary but true. And probably a bunch of other weird stuff that we'd rather forget.

It'll pass. I hope. [8|]

I like Kohls, my personal favorite place to get mens dress cloths. I wait until they have a sale after Christmas with slacks at $12-15, shirts at $8-18, and replace my whole wardrobe. For casual wear, it's still Walmart for jeans. I don't believe in nor buy designer jeans. I put on jeans for burning a brush pile with my BIL, shooting guns, trail riding, etc.

Personally I think the whole macho train of thought is a man just being a jerk. Personally I dislike tight fitting clothes because I think that they're uncomfortable. I'm not with the whole metro thing either mind you, but I don't begrudge someone else that if that's their choice. Its not about something being "gay" or not (and personally I find that to be a tad uncalled for). Its about the actual day to day choices a man makes and his overall attitude that matter. Not how he dresses.

I was an "emo" "back in the day"....didn't "cut" myself (those are FAR and FEW between)....but, certainly didn't "fit in", nor wanted to....I was "Left of Center" (not politically, but in life in general)...still am in some ways.

Can't stand Kohl's....a whole bunch of the same "blahness" year after year (amazing that they can have a $50 pair of pants....and, the MINUTE they are put out on the shelf, they are IMMEDIATELY "50% OFF"!!!!)..it's just "psychological warfare" retailing...

And, that's exactly why there is such a variety of clothes out there....I don't do ANY of that....I own 1, maybe 2, pairs of jeans...and they RARELY get worn....heck...i don't even mow my own yard, much less burn brush....(of course, then, there's men like my father in law, who think "real" men should do all that....and more....)...sorry...not for me....it drives him UP THE WALL when he knows there's a contractor/service over at the house to do something that HE would do himself if it were HIS house......

different strokes for different folks....

Huh, I guess I haven't really been looking too hard at how other men dress, have no interest in what they wear, and don't seem to have the same strong interest in men's fashion.

I've given up my leather ties, **** kicking motorcycle boots, camoflage bandanas worn around the wrists, my pierced ear (left only), my mullet, t-shirts made more comfotable with the help of scissors, 89X radio station (Windsor/Detroit), black wardrobe, and 2 toned hair. I remember the Red Hot Chili Peppers playing Rick's American Cafe in East Lansing (Michigan State). Yah, I've left my Punk/Emo days behind.

Before that, in high school, I had my Calvin Klein, Jordache, Izod, Nike, Benetton, Rugby shirt, penny loafer preppie days.

While Kohl's may be the banality of clothing, typically the younger will abandon the fashion of their clique, and go a little mainstream. Amazing how a steady paycheck will chnage your wardrobe.

I guess that's what was different for me. I grew playing in woods, hunting for meat, growing hay, and had run a tractor well before I was of age for a drivers license. Heck, I turned enough soil for the local deputies at 13 that when they saw me driving up to Gold Kist, they just waved and let me be.

I think today's style can be called cartoon:

I teach in a middle school and what I see is that clothes are either way too big or way too small. Shorts are real baggy and hang below the knee The crotch of the pants would be down around the knees. Shirts are very large. And at the other extreme is the boys wearing girl's pants.

Does any one remember plaid bell-bottoms with 2 inch cuffs and wedgee shoes?

Wouldn't that really be uncomfortable anyway? My guess (not being in the habit of wearing girls jeans...) is that they wouldn't be cut with room for um... er... the little guy downstairs. Wouldn't he be pretty squished?

I guess, I don't understand your position. First, let me say, I think, the reason why we have a lot of "metro" sexuals amongst our fellow me, is becuase 1, it's a fad, (a deceptive lie) but 2, cause "manhood" isn't popular, or necessarily strived for. The image of masculinity is put down so much in our culture, that well, a young, naive, and unchristian boy, might just not gravitate towards that natural behavior of a man.

But, I must discuss something far more important, and aside from the topic. I need to admonish you my fellow Christians. Not becuase I'm the greatest among you, for I am so not. BUT,

I'm a little bit older than some of the guys. I'm in my mid 50's. I cannot stand the slop and the unkept look that the younger generation wears today. Wheather it's the baggy jean pants or the extra long sloppy T-shirts with baseball hats on backwards, I thnk it's discusting.

In our day when we took a girl out to a dance, or just to a movie and a burger afterwards, on a Friday, or Saturday Night, we dressed up in the best dress clothes we had. We spit shined our shoes, These were dress shoes not sneakers, and we slicked our hair back with greasy kids stuff, and wore our black leather coats everywhere. We would put on some good smelling after shave and we looked like a million bucks. (Like John Travolta in the Original Gease Movie). The girls always dressed up as well. They wanted to look good for us guys, and us guys wanted to look good for the girls.

My son is 24 and still single. He goes out on a Friday night wearing his best slopy jeans, with the most tears and wholes in them, and tennis shoes, and his favorite slopy T-shirt which is always hanging out. I guess slop is in now days. One concelation, my son likes to wear my old black leather coat with the rest of his slop outfit. There's hope for him yet!

What a difference between generations!
