Or maybe He's softened your heart...?

This very well could be. God is so awesome in that He cares for us to even do that! I am floored.

Update - she bought her one way ticket yesterday. She leaves May 13 and says she will be gone till Feb of 2009, in time for our son's b-day. And that she will be coming back on a yearly basis, but never again for such a long stint.

What's odd is that I now know I am going to miss her. God does have a sense of humor.

God is good and you have been open and obedient to Him - now you can wish her on her way with good grace and sincerity, and it can be a good-natured parting. Parting on good terms is always a good thing.

You're so right and this patience and insight could only be from God. My knuckle headed self would have said something a long time and ruined it all.

Now I have the blessing that she is leaving on absolute good terms, I never said a word nor charged her a red cent, my wife thinks I am the best ever because of my patience and understanding, and I can have peace in the house that only comes from God's grace and mercy.

Give yourself a break! Your knuckleheaded-self is clearly not as knuckleheaded as you imagine, since you were open to God doing this in you. He knew you needed to vent somewhere, gave you a safe place to do that, and met your need ................. and when your need (to be heard and understood) was met, you allowed God into your heart to do this in you.

You're really not so bad after all, you know.

Be encouraged!!

Update - she left today.

I am actually a sad about this whole thing, how strange. I said goodbye to her last night, thanked her for all of her help and blessings, and told her that if she ever needs anything/etc that she better let us know.

I don't know how my wife will be handling this in the next coming days/weeks...

My MIL claims she will not come back till Feb for when our baby is (God willing) one year old.

It's great that you've had all the help.

Now comes the exciting time of discovery, where you really start to discover what parenthood is all about, without any props. The real deal.

This is true.. and will be ever more true for my wife. I work LONG hours and really just get home to shower and then sleep/repeat cycle. So I know it will be a very rude awakening for her.

It will be an adjustment, but your marriage will grow.
