You know, I first typed that I used to think my feet looked to big...and then I realized it was just me...but I didn't want to make assumptions about how you felt! If you want to, try this...put on a pair of big, clunky style shoes first, then change into a slimmer, sleeker pair and voila! your feet look nice and petite! Talking about denim...does anyone wear denim jumpers or shirt dresses?

ORIGINAL: uponeagleswings See I just can't get my mind around wearing skirts (even jean skirts) with socks/knee highs and tennis shoes. That and most of mine are print and look best with sandals or nicer shoes. Could you picture ankle socks and loafers? They look surprisingly good with softer, flowy skirts. You could also wear the less athletic looking sneakers like keds...they have so many ballet style ked types out now. LOL...actually, not really. Maybe the issue is that all of my ankle length skirts have slits? I have to have something covering my leg that goes at least as high as the slit (about mid calf or knee, depending). Oh, and I have a particular dislike of those slip on looking tennis shoes like Lexie posted- they also never seem to stay on my feet. Maybe I need to see some pictures to help me visualize something that would work for being on the floor all day? Denim jumpers make me look like I'm 7, so they're a no go for me.

Stacy, I wear my skirts with sneakers like THESE or THESE. Christina, you sound like your shaped a bit like me, THIS cut of skirt makes my bum look *wonderful* I have several denim and business skirts cut similarly.

Yup, Ryanne. I didn't know they were called tulip skirts. Thanks, I'll probably have an easier time finding them now that I know the name. When I type in mermaid, a bunch of wedding dresses pop up LOL.

I do flare, straight leg, and boot cut... but I have to be careful with any cut that tapers at the knee too much. I love denim, but I hate, hate, hate the low cut waste that is so popular which turns me away from denim. Having a much smaller waist than my hips (2 size difference,) I have a very difficult time with gaping at the "waist." A seamstress helps, but it's hard to find one that is talented with denim.

HC, a tailor would probably be better suited to your needs then a seamstress. I buy my jeans a size large and have them tailored, it's not that expensive and it makes a WORLD of difference in how they fit.

I have a beautiful long denim jacket which I double as a dress (I'm not sure which purpose it was actually designed for!) I still wear a top and skirt under it but I button it all the way done so it looks like a dress (I worry about popping a button or something!)

Capris! I forgot about those. I like the baggie, cargo style that have a draw string at the bottom and the low rise, straight, fitted(not too tight) ones and the wide leg ones....um...I like them all!

I voted jean skirts. quote:

You could also wear the less athletic looking sneakers like keds...they have so many ballet style ked types out now. So I don't look silly if I wear ankle socks and loafers? I'm just never sure if it looks right. I'm more into wearing loafers some instead of always wearing sneakers but wasn't sure if I should just wear nylon knee highs or pantyhose with them.

No one around here wears sneakers with denim skirts. They were nice sandals with them. No socks.

I think it looks rather dorky to wear ankle socks with loafers, but that's just me

I feel kinda dorky when theres a gap between the end of my skirt and the top of my socks when I am wearing loafers. With sneakers it doesn't bother me but for some reason I don't like it with loafers, maybe cause loafers are suppose to be a more dressy type shoe than loafers. anyway its just fun hearing other opinions, I'm certainly not trying to make a fashion statement!
