We need to remember that Oprah is a talk show host. Not a preacher, scientist, or psychologist.


Problem is: when she takes on a theological position and shares it with the public, her accountability takes on a whole new dimension. At that point, she is affecting others' salvation. Scary territory (or should be, anyway)!!!

Does anyone else see a link between the "New Earth" teaching with WOF teaching? I didn't read the book, but I have seen Oprah's promotion on it.

Deb,

Yes, the links are there between Oprah's frequently promoted materials and the Word of Faith movement. In a series of talks given a few years back I noted that the Word of Faith movement/teachings is nothing more than New Age/Pantheism packaged and repackaged for modern day Christian consumption.

For example, a recent look at Oprah's promotion of 'The Secret'.. if you are familiar with contents and running theme of the book you will clearly see the parallels between what it advocates and what many Word of Faith proponents teach from the pulpit.

I just think she is trying to find her own sense of enlightenment where it doesn't trample on her brand of morals and values. She is pro many things that the BIble speaks out against. So for her to embrace Christ means she has to change her way of thinking or acting. From what I figure, she's trying to find something or someway to make sense of our world and yet be embraced by the main stream as to being very spiritual. Well, from my understanding, satan is very spiritual as well.

It's been years since I thought of her in a positive manner. I hate that so many almost "worship" her and all she says. It's like she's convinced them that she holds the answer of the meaning of life. While she may have a lot of power with the media and all her billions, she will fall just like the other lost. All her good intentions and billions will not purchase her passage into the kingdom. All that influence she weilded will not produce good works (from God's perspective). She will stand before God with the lowest of the lost and He will not know her. Then she will turn around and see the multitude of those she influenced and manipulated and realize that she brought them along with her. Tragic.

Like someone else said we need to speak up and share the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray!!!

Ok I don't think Oprah is the anti-christ,(by promoting this book she is a anti- christ) the false prophet maybe. She has for the first time openly endorsed a candiadate! A candiadate that has risen swftly to the most popular man in the world and who's concern is to bring all people and faiths together. Think about it. And though she doesn't hold the title preacher she does influnce the minds of many people or as another poster wrote "leading captive silly women" I had never thought of that verse that way but when you think about it who is Oprah's main audience. Also the Bible teaches "that by their fruits ye shall know them" so don't be afraid to call it like it is, also don't be decived by apparent goodness and good deeds "Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them I never knew you: depart from me ye workers of iniquity." (Matt. 7:22-23) "And no marvel, for Satan himselfis trnasformed into an angel of light. Therfore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be accourding to their works." (2 Cor.11:14-15)

All we need to know and obey, is his word, the Bible.

I'm not at all surprised that Oprah would do or start some anti-christ movement like this, she's not a Christian. Many times I've flipped her shown on and saw that she was speaking with a medium or someone who talks to spirts and stuff, that lets you know right there she ain't all that good.

Up until I read this I had not heard of Oprah's promotion of this. I happened to be on Snopes this morning and read more of the background on the whole thing. What a shame that she may be ultimately influencing so many to turn from the "REAL" Christ toward something of hers (or someone elses) creation.

Yep, as several have said, time to really start praying for those that may be easily lead astray.

I think we also need to remember that this sort of thing has gone on since the beginning of creation and not jump to our rapture guns preaching "the end is near!" We view it in isolation when over history every generation has tried to re-invent spirituality. Yet, the TRUTH has outlasted even the best of the bunk.

I read about how Oprah is pushing the "New Age" religion. I concur with most of you on your comments.
Oprah has had a long-standing adoration with the public, and specificly with women. Those are the ones you need to pray that God opens their eyes. She has very humanistic issues on her show. I used to watch her years ago, and having discernment--took it just so much. She came from
an abusive background and she came from poverty as well. She is not a dumb woman either, but quite an invester.[sm=heart.gif]
She is not correct in promoting this kind of "religion" but there are a lotta'
people out there like that, and we need to pray for those people as well.
I would not say they are dumb but dull of ear, and I would not say they are stupid because they are pretty intelligent. Unless they hear the "word of God" they are going to get tangled up in this kind of thing.
Please don't forget--Oprah lives a differnt lifestyle than most of us, and she is a very open person...she is seeking...sooooo..let's pray she seeks after the "Truth"..."I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by Me." John 14:6

Greetings! What a shock, Mammon disciples with a little currency decide that they are better than God's plan for eternal possessions! As it is written, you cannot serve both God and the love of money or Mammon which is the demon of greed. You will be devoted to the one and despise the other. But, with God all things become possible through Christ Jesus' Merciful forgivenesses.

I did some checking on Snoops.com and maybe I am covering something that has been posted already, if I am I am sorry but I feel that rumors and one thing and the TRUTH is something totally different. (Even if OPRAH, thinks otherwise.)

But when you go to Snoops.com, they give a link to the website for the XM Radio show. NOTE that those listed as ones that will be on the show and on her staff. In this list is the woman that wrote this book. She is listed as "Spiritual Advisor" to the show.........HUMMMMM! I wonder who's gospel their are going to use? The one of this human or the one of the True and Living GOD! My bet is not God's!

Just one more reason not to watch OPRAH, like I needed anymore reasons.....LOL!

Has anyone heard about Oprah's newest craze? She is having live webinars every Monday evening regarding a book called: "The New Earth". In this they actually say "I am" as who they are. They are out right claiming to be God. The sad thing is...I actually think Oprah is clueless on this matter. I think they are just using her. This woman really needs our prayers, because they know exactly what they are doing.

It's such a shame. But we have to remember that the folks who follow this nonsense are like those who eat cardboard, while we eat steaks. None of this will satisfy them and may even push some onto Jesus.
