PrincessDonna -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 6:38:47 PM)

LOL...she said she was asking for me to get the epidural before I was asking for it.[;)]

When I was in with Hannah, I got to hear a baby be born in the room next door...right down to the Daddy's cry of "It's ANOTHER BOY!!!!!"[sm=funny.gif] I cried and cried.[8|]

Jenny-Fair -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 7:03:28 PM)

Donna, why did that upset you?

PrincessDonna -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 7:11:59 PM)

It didn't upset me. It was like being in someone else's Baby Story and those always make me cry.[;)]

That and I was soooooo glad that *I* was done with labor and I had felt horrible for the woman the entire time she had been there. I was just so glad that she was done too, and I didn't even know her!

Jenny-Fair -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 7:15:01 PM)

LOL, that's great.

paulsbride -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 7:19:46 PM)

[&o] I was the one that everyone else could hear when I was in giving birth.

I have an appointment tomorrow. I feel like I always have an appointment[8D] I have questions to ask this time around, so I am excited to talk with the Dr and get them answered!

Jenny-Fair -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 7:21:56 PM)

Maybe you should spread them out, Jess...so that you have at least one question every time you see the doc![8D] Or we could give you our burning questions and you could pretend you wanted to know the answers?[:D]

I didn't mind. The nurse asked me if I wanted her to close the door. I just couldn't go to sleep until she had the baby though, even though Hannah had been born at 9 something that morning and I don't think their baby was born until after 11 at night. LOL

nothing changed, just a repost to keep up to date on everyone. (If you all don't mind looking over it and see if maybe I missed an announcement of a date change or something....and please let me know...ty)

RepentanceIsRequired -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 8:27:54 PM)

Our hospital has one L&D room, but then there are only 1,000 people in our town. [:D]

Royal.Fortress -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 8:30:18 PM)

I have no idea how many L&D rooms the hospital I'm pre-registering in has. The other hospital in the city that has L&D is one of the leading Children's Hospitals in the country, so I know if there was a big problem, we'd get transferred there. The other hospital (it's a publicly funded Catholic hospital) seems to have a better reputation for positive birth and post-pardum experiences (ie. with nurses, LC's, etc.)

Kim, aren't you planning to have a home birth? Do you still need to pre-register if you plan to have the baby at home? How do you pre-register at a hospital?

Donna - the small town hospital I delivered in this time is even smaller than yours. It has 2 LDR rooms! I was the only mom in there the 3 days I was there.

Cool! The only mom there with me was my cousin. We kept seeing each other at the doctor and joked how it would be funny to have them at the same time...and then we did! Her little boy was born a day before Levi, so she got to listen to my entire labor.[8D]

I have to say, I'm glad I didn't have to listen to anyone else in labour!

When we were 'waiting' for the doctor to arrive so that I could start pushing with Jael we heard the lady next door giving birth to her second child, a son (VBAC). She pushed for an hour and a half and we were priveleged enough to hear his first cries. It was the most amazing sound (outside our own babies first cries). His little voice brought tears to both of us. It was a very sweet moment. [:)]

TammyIsBlessed -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 10:12:30 PM)

Hearing the moment of delivery would be awesome. All the previous stuff - maybe not so awesome. Depends on the woman!

Room2Grow -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 10:17:33 PM)

My goodness- don't any of these hospitals use insulation? LOL- I never heard any other ladies. My first hospital was a city hospital (I think Maggie used it too- I wonder if she heard anything)- I know there were several other ladies there while I was there (and we were in L&D from 4 am until 6 or 7 pm- she was born at 5). My second was born at a small hospital in another state, but I was the only one in labor that day, so there was no one else to hear- though a nurse did come running when my husband got a little overzealous while telling me to push[8|] He actually yelled so loud that I thought something was wrong that they weren't telling me- though it did make me push harder!

Janine- just for added encouragement, a friend dilated to 2cm at 28 weeks and they put her on bedrest and she just deliverd a perfectly healthy baby girl yesterday (she would be 42 weeks this Tuesday)- I can't wait to cook her a meal and sneak a peek at the baby!

Brandy -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 10:27:23 PM)

Jenny, I actually rolled my eyes at you for that one. After I stopped giggling around a mouth full of food. [:D]

Room2Grow -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 10:37:07 PM)

[8D][8D][8D] No, we haven't had the pleasure, though I do hope to move to her neck of the woods in the next year!

sharonjef2007 -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 11:27:38 PM)

I normally try not to come into the pregnancy/baby threads if at all possible. But, I'm glad that I did tonight when I saw this..........

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/2/2008 11:57:44 PM)

The only thing we heard in our hospital was a woman next door pushing, she was very loud and abrasive in her language, lol. I am not a screamer when I'm in labor, mostly out of fear of my mother smacking me, lol. But then, I didn't push that long, not even 45 minutes.

[:D] That made me laugh.

IAMJulie -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/3/2008 12:02:19 AM)

When I was in the hospital with #1 I did hear a lady who was a few rooms down. It was kind of funny because she was hispanic and kept moaning "aye aye aayye!" over and over (not that her pain was funny of course but it was cute what she was saying). When my DS was finally born and we took him for a walk the next day her sweet hubby came out to meet us and asked how much he weighed. When we told him he ran around his wife's room yelling "nueve con ocho! Nueve con ocho!" They were really adorable.

With #2 there were a number of ladies in labor at the same time but it was quiet because the anesthesiologist started at one end of the hall and went down the row giving epi's.

nicole6598 -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/3/2008 12:02:34 AM)

I didn't scream that much with Grace, I did more of the grinding of teeth and I remember the midwife telling me to stop doing that and push instead otherwise I would get a sore jaw. So with nath I screamed, but he was a little harder to push out with his huge fat head and body [:D]

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/3/2008 12:16:28 AM)

They told me not to scream while I pushed, it's a waste of energy. But then, I didn't push when they told me to but when my body felt like it needed to. Micah also watched the monitor well enough to tell when within a contraction I pushed the best and that was when he would encourage me to push[;)] He was so good when I was in labor.

Oh, and we did hear the bells they play each time a baby is born.

peculiar_lady2 -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/3/2008 12:18:16 AM)

actually I found a recent study that said that screaming gives you more power behind your pushes, etc. They tested power lifters, and when they added nothing more then a scream to their lifts they were able to do so much more (can't remember what it was though....have to go look it up again cause I don't want to say wrong)

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: '08 Pregnancy Chat/Support (cont'd) (3/3/2008 12:20:47 AM)

That's interesting Sarah. I'm not worried about it, I didn't push for that long; less then 45 minutes and my contractions were 3.5ish minutes apart, so not very many pushes, lol.
