I know I've said it before, but it's just evening out right now. The last time I was on this board pregnant, there was a lot of pink. Kinda poetic, if you ask me.

Royal - Awesome about your last day of work! I'm hoping mine will be June 27th !
At first I wasn't sure about a home birth but the more I thought about it the more comfortable I am with it. Barring any complications that can be forseen before the actual labour part, I'm pretty sure that's what we're going to go with! I'm going to see if I can sign up for a course offered in my city called "Birthing From Within" and then I want to also read the Ina May book and also The Birth Book by Dr. Sears to prepare myself.

That's awesome!! I'm reading "Birthing From Within" right now - it's a really fantastic book - I'd love to take the actual course! Ina May's book(s) are phenomenal as well! I would also humbly suggest The Birth Partner for both you and your hubby - it's a really great resource for comfort measures and info about the stages of labour!

Royal - Thanks for the tip! That might be a good thing for us to peruse through at bed time together! My husband is more or less freaked out about the whole process of birth but I so know will step up to the plate when the time comes! He's really great at caring for me when I'm sick or in pain so I don't doubt his abilities, though I do doubt mine at times !

Aw, Julie, I can't believe you're still here. (That sounds ruder than I mean it ) I hope things happen soon for you

Don't worry about it, I know what you mean. :)

I suppose I should jump on the "things I'll miss about pregnancy" bandwagon while I'm still looking forward and not back.

Of course the baby moving and no periods, those are just grand! I'll miss having an excuse to be on they chubby side. So not looking forward to losing the baby weight!

What I WON'T miss is peeing by braille at the doctor's office before each appointment. Darn that little cup, who can hit such a small target, I mean really?!?

LOL! I thought I was the only one that pees all over my hand every single time. And then I have Hannah with me, loudly proclaiming, "MOM! Pee in the cup! Not on your hand!" All eyes on me when I leave the bathroom, and all the dads are snickering. I just pretend like nothing happened.

Oh no! That really would be tramatic! When I got pregnant with DD and DS wasn't even two yet I was having to give a sample for the pregnancy test and my DS just decided it was time to leave the bathroom. It was big enough that I couldn't reach him and he was young enough to understand my frantic command to "come here!" and the door was the type that, even though I locked it, turning the handle unlocked it. I've never got my pants on so fast, I was just finishing zipping when he opened the door wide to a hallway full of people.

Congrats on the BOY Kathryn, how exciting.

((Egyptian Princess))- Praying for God's peace, my dear.

I had my appointment today. My appointments are literally about 2 minutes with the doctor, so I'm in and out. Which honestly, I love. I know if I had questions or concerns she would definitely take more time with me, but I never do. I know I will have more questions later about L&D, but for now, I'm liking the quick appointments. My "big" US is scheduled for May 15th, so I'm excited about that!!!! We won't be finding out what we're having, but it will still be neat to see the baby again and see how much he/she has grown! Heartbeat is still in the 150's...that's the lowest it's been. Anyway, you can officially add me to the "surprise" list, too.

For my ante-natal appointments I used to just pee at home into a jug and pour it into a smaller container - are y'all not allowed to do that?

[dinosaur mode]
In ye olden days, we only knew the gender if we had to have a really late ultrasound scan for medical reasons (ie around 34 weeks), as technology wasn't that advanced - most of us didn't know right up until the birth. Knowing beforehand just wasn't an option.

Oh yeah, back in the olden days

My MIL is always telling me all about the dinosaur ages of pregnancy, at least we have something to talk about while we walk in the morning.

My current doc has my pee in a cup with FMU at home. The cup is larger and I never have a problem. But I really don't like toting that thing around in my purse. The nurse always asks, do you have a urine sample? Yes, of course, and you may have it. It just feels weird.

Yeah, Kathryn, with my luck it would pop open and it would get everywhere! I could put a lid on the cup put the cup in a ziplock baggie and put the cup in the baggie in another baggie and it would still manage to pop open and get everywhere. Then I'd get to the office and still have to pee in a too small cup that I can't see.

Here in the UK it's standard practice for the doctor's surgery to give out small screw-topped sample/specimen containers in a special plastic bag - so there's little or no risk of any spillage (it would only happen if the person didn't screw the top on properly - and even then it would be caught by the bag).

Except those bags aren't always leak proof ... especially if one was accidentally perforated when the office staff cut open the box holding them (and of course, *I* would have to get that particular bag, and have a person bump into me really harshly, cracking the specimen bottle ... which then leaked into the perforated bag ... which then made a disgusting mess of the inside of my purse!) .......... this happened while preggers with #3.

I think yours (both bags and bottles) must be made very differently from ours!

That's exactly what would happen to me. It wouldn't matter how well cup and baggier were made, something would happen to break it. :)

the hospital I am going to this time doesn't even do urine samples unless they order it and then you have to go to specimen collection to do it. They don't do it for routine apts though.

I have to do them every two weeks, and I *hate* it. If Judah is with me (which usually he's with friends) I just tell them I just emptied my bladder and there's just no pee in there... they tell me that's fine, to just be sure to pee before I leave.
Then I either sneak out, or tell them I hadn't had anything to drink and still didn't have any pee in me I have appointments every two weeks, so it's not like they don't have a nice collection of my urine already

I can't imagine managing peeing in a cup AND a toddler of any sort. I get to atleast pee in a largeish paper drinking cup. I'm getting to be a pro at it.

I love eating. Everytime I do I look SUPER pregnant

this little one has hiccups all the time now.

Two questions:

Braxton hicks.. Have had ALOT today. Partly from lack of water, which I'm remedying and not sure why otehrwise.. too much work. So is there ever a point where you worry?

I can get them to stop if I do the opposite trick but are there ever too many in a day? they aren't painful per se but can get uncomfortable from the tightness i feel.

second - stretch marks.. Anyone get a SUPER painful one because of how fast it happened? I have one that hurt like the dickens last night. I knew it had started but all the sudden yesterday/last night it just POPPPED and OUCHY its red and irritated. Normal? I'm thinking so, it's way low, on my pubic area to the side and looks like all the other ones, just way wider and painful. Today it's just tender but I know if I were to rub it more than to just put lotion on it would hurt again.

We need more little girls on the list ladies!!
