Esther. Two reasons. One, alliteration is NOT a mothers friend. Two, coming from someone who always has to spell her name, may I humbly suggest I can see this conversation in her future... First Name? Hadassah. How do you spell that? Hadassah. What came after the a? D, no the other a? And it ends with an A? H - A - D - A - S - S - A - H. Ok, what kind of name is that? It is Hebrew for Esther. Why didn't your mom just name you Esther???? I say this because I live it. My name is Momma. Is that Momma or Mama? Momma. Why not just Mom? Because that is my Mom's name. So, why didn't she name you after her? Because she didn't like it. So, why did she give you almost the same name? Because Dad liked it. Oh, so why isn't it a nickname? Because things are different in the hollow. Except with my real name, I also have the I or Y at the end discussion. And while it is all great story to share with friends, but it is horrid with an intake nurse when you are checking your 1 month old into the hospital or when you are 'confirming' yourself to the mtge company. Jael sounds like Superman's Kryton name, or was that his dad...Ja-el and Ka-el? But I have to say I like the sound of Jael Joy, which isn't a choice at all and is shows alliteration. And, I'm not even looking to see how you spell alliteration but I know that that it is tough enough to say the right kids' name when they start with different letters, my nephews are both 'B' names and no one ever says the right name when they are in a hurry.

Donna - someone told me once to go to your back door and call the name out across the yard at the top of your lungs a few times, including full name, and THEN see if you like it. I had an Aunt Hattie, I wonder what her name was... WORK, I need to WORK.

I voted Esther Joy, but the name that popped into my mind when I first read your signature to go and vote was Esther Grace. Congratulations! I pray you are blessed during this pregnancy!

Hmmm...Esther Grace is kind of nice too. Those who know my last name...does it fit? I wonder about the soft and hard c together. Our last name starts with Cl.

It sounds nice, but I keep accidentally Extra Grace C... II don't know why that doesn't happen with Esther Joy.

It's a beautiful name, Jae, and I hope you do get to use it someday. I am strongly leaning toward Esther Joy. I know we will get some grief for the first name, but I care more about meaning than what other people think or a name's popularity. In fact, I tend to like less popular names more. It's nice to know people here like it at least. Our church does have a great number of less common Biblical names, so it shouldn't be too odd in that circle. We have Titus, Peter, Malakai, Levi, Eli, Moriah (after Mt Moriah), Naomi. Esther will fit just right.

I'm introducing something brand new for a middle name - Esther Elizabeth. I love the way this rolls off the tongue.

Now, wait a minute. I didn't know we could add other choices... Try this - Esther Elaine. It sounds great until you realized that others will hear "Esthery Lane" Donna - I like Joy and I don't know about your last name, but I remember reading something about the number of sylables making the names sound better. Esther only has one, so we tend to want to put something with more syllables with it. In other words, what sounds good without your last name may sound awful with it. And, of course, we get used to what we use and like it sounds more normal. I like Joy better because it expresses gratitude for where you are, Hope has an expectation to it, like you are waiting for more.
