crankius: Is this, by chance, the same situation that was posted about before on Crosswalk?

I was wondering the exact same thing myself.

I'm sorry, I'm really not understanding this situation at all. If I'm reading right, one spouse doesn't attend church but there's a highly questionable relationship going on between the one who does and a divorcee at church?!?! And there's some sort of attempt to justify the "relationship" going on in church - WOW! Maybe there's a reason this person doesn't want to go to church! I'm not comprehending this.

(edited/added...)

I just went back and reread and guess I a understanding it - as you're describing it anyway. This has disaster written all over it! Kudos to you, I guess, for trying to interject some sense into this situation but, in my experience, people will go to great lengths to rationalize some crazy things. Make your case, do it in love, back it up with anything and everything you can find, and then back away. It'll probably get ugly if they don't want to hear common sense.

The bible makes it very clear that the husband is to leave his parents and shall cleave unto his wife. The two become one flesh or one enity. Genesis 2:24. Cleave in the old english means to adhere firmly and closely or loyally and unwaveringly. The husband is to remain always true to his wife. All people are to respect the marriage bond. Matthew 19:5-6.

What GOD has joined togather let no one of mankind rip or break apart. Even if one does not go to church the other spouse is to remain loyal to that spouse til death do you part.

Matthew 19:9 Anyone one who puts away or divorces their spouse except it was for fornication, and marries another commits adultry. Fornication is sex with another outside of the marriage relationship.
