When I worked at the bank, lo these many years ago, there was a lady who sorta took me under her wing and she said it once. She told me her grandfather used to say it. It's stuck with me all this time and has gotten me through many a bad day.

Only a person of tremendous inner strength like yourself would be able to understand the magnitude of it.

Think about that for a while, please.

Well, ladies, I'm actually headed to bed soon, I think. I'm seriously sleep deprived. I had a really sick migraine Friday night/Saturday morning, and then a somewhat lesser headache last night. Probably managed 3 hours each night if I was lucky.

Probably crawl into bed and watch my game shows. And maybe a DVD after that. If I don't fall asleep, of course.

(Fritz, I'm keeping the GirlChild in my prayers.)

Night, all.

Yeah, and nevermind my silly remark in that previous post when you're dealing senistive stuff right now. Sorry, if I offended anyone with that. I agree with Shar- Mar, you are a woman of tremendous inner strength, Fritz.

Cross-posting, yes. I have to be careful with what I say, because I'm finding my DSL connection is as slow as dial up right now. You guys will be flying through a conversation, and by the time my post posts, it doesn't make much sense. I'm left in the dust.

That's why I try to quote, so it will make a bit more sense.

Oh, Fritz, I'm so sorry.

So am I. I would say that I wish this day would be over for you, but the roof problem, at least, will be with you for several days.

Have you called your insurance company about the roof? Somebody needs to get a tarp on it immediately.

Just asked DH where you lived Lioness, (PA).

My response, "Well that aint no good, that's too far away to help with her roof."

Well, pickles.

Y'all are so cool and wonderful. You've made me feel tons better, thank you.

Mac, I'm not THAT sensitive.
You've never offended me, ever.

Gary, my erstwhile fil (Thank God for him!) was just here and is going to come tomorrow morning and put something over it. I'll call the insurance co. in the morning, too. I wouldn't get anyone today anyway.

Pam, I sure hope you get some much needed rest and the headaches go completely away. Thanks for the prayers.

{{{{{{Y'all}}}}}} I love you more than I can say.

I just got here and read up on the adventures with the ex's g/f. Oy. I must say that IMHO, you handled that far better than I would have.
My admiration for you continues to skyrocket.

And I'd like to echo what my loverly said...

Yep, a great Mother's Day present for me would have been a day when my kids' feelings didn't get hurt by some adult.
What's her number? I'll be very glad to set her straight about being sensitive to someone else's children.

There's no doubt in my mind that you would very clearly and very eloquently do just exactly that.

As to the coffee date, that would sure be wonderful. On the other hand, do you have a really tall ladder 'cause my roof needs some attention.
Oh sure. NOW the truth comes out. I have a step ladder. I'm sure if you stand on it I could then reach the roof after I stand on your shoulders.

You know me, always practical.

Messing with the heart of the Girlchild? Get me the number. I will not be eloquent, tactful, dilomatic or verynice. AND the Girlchild will never know where it came from.

Phew. Thank goodness. I, on the other-hand, have been a bit sensitive lately. Stupid stuff triggering my stupid sensitivity meter. So I worry about being insensitive when I'm feeling sensitive. *sigh*

I've had more people wish me happy mother's day today than I remember ever before. I'm taking it as a compliment. Afterall, I fought like a mother to remove a child from an abusive environment and won. So I am kinda like a mom.

I sure am glad y'all are in my (and the GirlChild's) corner.

Just the thought of what you'd say and do on our behalf warms my heart and fills me with unholy glee.
You guys are awesome!

Loverly and I agree that when someone has a desire to give their best, we should let them. The cynical part of me wonders if the gf would have objected so heavily had the present shopping been for her. But that's neither here nor there.
Girlchild wanted to give her best to her mother and was not allowed to do so. That's a crying shame. If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, you could always tell her that Mother's Day presents don't necessarily have to be given on Mother's Day... And let her do with that what she will.

ETA: Loverly added that it would be a very nice gesture for her to take you shopping...

Dude the Girlchild gave her mommy the best. She gave her her heart and that is something the gf will never have.

True. She did give something from the heart. I didn't mean to make that sound as though that isn't her best. I was referring to how she wanted to go shopping for a gift, but they didn't take her so they "wouldn't waste gas".
