Lioness, i'm so sorry that GirlChild had to go through that. Sometimes as adults we don't think what our responses will do to them. It breaks my heart that she is hurting. I've actually sat here and cried because I know how she is feeling.

I'm with Loverly. Just give us the address, she and I will handle it.

I'm just now getting some posting time and just read about poor GirlChild. I'm just so sorry about that. I feel for her. She should have at least 2 (maybe 3) adults that she can count on, but I see that's not the case. I thank God that she does have her rock...her mom.

God bless you for that. I needed a BugLady when I was a child. You are like a mom.

Aww, thanks, zmanfan! I needed to read that. Now if I could just persuade others they need a BugLady, I'd be set.

There are so very many children who do need a BugLady.

My eyes just sprung a leak thinking about that child having a chance for a better childhood and life because of you.

Thanks for the company, James.

This whole subject has crazy timing for me. My "mother" ...her name is Brenda...my aunt whom I love dearly and who is one of the few saints alive today (in my mind anyway) sent me a letter that arrived yesterday. I opened it and read just enough of it to get the gist of it and put it back in the envelope. I refused to let it ruin my Mother's Day (I don't think she meant to time it that way). She's so desperate for Brenda and me to reconcile because she just loves her sister and me so much, and when Brenda severed our relationship (which was a farce anyway) a year and a half ago, it really put my aunt in a funk.

The letter is a plea for me to forgive Brenda and reach out to her. She doesn't get that forgiveness isn't the problem...Brenda is an abuser, liar, manipulator and she is the one who kicked me to the curb. After the horrible physical abuse and the even more horrible emotional abuse and the hiding of it all and everything else she did to me that I don't possibly have time to list, I feel so much peace with all of that junk out of my life and out of my child's life.

She can't begin to imagine what I have survived and the conversations about how I'm a Christian and should handle this differently than I am because of it, and now this letter is beginning to wear on me.

I may start a thread in Relationships about this. I would love some unbiased input.

Thanks for listening. (and more crying)

If I may so bold I'd like to put my $.02 in here. I would agree that forgiveness is important, but I would also put in that forgiving does not mean that you open yourself up to be hurt again. Forgiveness does not say that the person that hurt you was right (and as we know she was not), but that God is just and He will do what is right.

I would suggest to forgive (and I would be more than glad to pray for you in that regard 'cause I know that ain't easy). But I wouldn't suggest that you open your house to a woman that voluntarily severed any relationship regardless of the reason.

Phew. Thank goodness. I, on the other-hand, have been a bit sensitive lately. Stupid stuff triggering my stupid sensitivity meter. So I worry about being insensitive when I'm feeling sensitive. *sigh*

Dear Kerr, I did think of that today. And I was also thinking about how I really have no complaints. God is far, FAR better to me than I deserve, certainly, but also better than I have any reason to expect.

It just stings a bit when one of the cubs gets hurt.

BUT, the 3 of us had dinner together and they got everything off their chests and are now both on to the next thing. No permanent damage.

Terri, thank you for the hug and the encouraging words. I needed that.

James, thank you for your $.02 very much. Please do pray for me about the forgiveness thing...not easy for sure.

Would you also pray for my aunt? She's having the hardest time of any of us. This is just breaking her heart and I hate it for her. I know how much she loves me, but this is not her battle. It was Brenda's choice, and hers alone to live with.

((((Terri))))

((((James))))

Love you guys! Thank you!

God love ya, what a position to be in. I agree with James, even though it disturbs your aunt, forgiving (which I know you've done) doesn't mean opening yourself up to the same old junk. Sometimes becoming "functional" means removing yourself from the "dys", ya know?

Did you start a thread? I have an opinion or three on the subject.

Thank you! No, I haven't started the thread yet. I will though...probably tomorrow night. I'll let you know when I do because I really want to hear your opinion or three.

I'm SO glad the kiddos got to vent and are feeling better! That warms my cockles (as a wise friend of mine says).

I'm sorry to hear that, Terri. Can I ask...is it related to your church and the stuff there you've been dealing with?

Wow, it's been an emotional day for a lot of the Den Dwellers.

Well, today has been cathartic to say the least. And to top it off, we watched Forrest Gump tonight which always has me crying my fool head off at the end (and sometimes in the middle), I am worn slap out. Thankfully, today is now over and I'm going to hit the hay.

God bless you all and keep you my Beloved Friends. I don't know what I'd do without you.

Not only was today Mother's Day, a holiday when I miss my Grandma. Plus a day where I hate being single and child-less because when somebody wishes me "Happy Mother's Day" it breaks my heart and feels as if they are mocking me. Anywho, today was the anniversary of my Grandpa's death.

Plus it was confirmation day at church. Lots and lots of emotions.
