Good motto Kerr but it needs to be in red so, I corrected it for you.

Just so it's not in Crimson.

Wow, ladies, what a day you have had. I prayed for all of you as I caught up on all the posts.

It was a pretty good Mother's Day for me, although I did think about my mom who has been in heaven for 8 years now. *sigh* A friend and I were talking and he asked me if I was going to bring flowers to her gravesite. I have an issue with visiting gravesites. Not that I'm afraid of them or any phobia or anything like that, I have just - for as long as I can remember - felt no desire to visit someone's grave. I don't even like to go as part of the funeral itself. Okay, when they lowered my brother's coffin and part of the ceremony invited the family members to put a shovelful of dirt over it (I did not), that just threw me over the edge. It was probably the most heart wrenching experience of my life. I don't mean to sound insensitive to anyone, so please accept my apologies if this comes across that way, and I do realize it's important to a lot of people, but I just don't understand visiting old bones.

Other than it being a ritual kind of thing, can anyone share why they do it?

I don't go that often, once every few years or so. I go to sometimes feel connected to them. The only people I visit are my grandparents.

That's an interesting question, Sam.

I don't remember visiting my parents' gravesite often; in fact, I think think I've only visited it twice as an adult and of my own accord. Once was shortly after my dad died and I wanted to go see if the tombstone had been changed yet to reflect both parents. The other time was when I moved away from Pensacola (where they are buried).

CS was cremated but he wanted some of his ashes to be buried at his brother's gravesite. Other than complying with a request to provide a bench at that spot for others, I think I've been there once. Just this evening, I was wondering if I wanted to go visit the grave site when I go to Jackson next month.

I probably won't. The cemetery is up a very steep and winding hill (and I don't drive and have no desire to walk up it in the middle of summer). Plus, if I want some reflection time about CS, I'd rather go hiking out in nature.

Ironically, I enjoy walking around old cemetaries and reading the tombstone; kinda like an interesting history lesson.

I have a friend who loves old cemetaries for this same reason.

Now, next time I visit the city of Tombstone, I would like to see the old tombstones. (couldn't resist the humor in that ) We didn't have enough time when we went last year. It's a really interesting town.

This makes perfect sense to me, and more along the lines of how I chose to remember those who have passed away. Sometimes I make a pot of tea and drink it from the porcelain teacup my mom gave me, or when I go to Sedona I remember my mom because she loved it there, or there's the little Spanish Village in Carefree that she and I would go to once in a while ... all great memories and allow me to honor her memory ... and I know she's up in heaven sharing a little smile with me.

Fritz, I was so happy to read this! I'm sure the world looks a bit better to you this morning. Also because your roof is getting covered this morning and you're calling your insurance agent.

I slept a really good 8 1/2 hours last night (okay, with one short break). Slept clear through to the alarm at 5. Did wake up with a slight headache, but it's gone now. Praise God!

Good morning! I was gonna tell y'all that I wouldn't complain today but I do have to mention that it's 37 degrees outside and there've been snowflakes flying around.

Other than that, yep, my little world is a much brighter place today. Thank you all for your care and prayers.

Pam, I'm so glad you got some sleep and feel better. Thank God!

For May, it's a little chilly. I know that you can't put flowers out around here until Memorial Day but it's been so nice that I caved and filled a couple flower boxes for my deck. Poor flowers.

I sent the ManCub to school in a hoodie cause, you know, I washed his winter coat and put it away. He was waiting for the bus and his teeth were chattering. (It's not really that cold and he was only outside for a coupla minutes, toughens 'em up )

But is it supposed to warm right up again? I think they'll be okay.

I am just fighting off summer as much as possible.

Our high is only to be in the 40s today but the rest of the week it's to be in the 60s. They (the flowers) didn't freeze so they'll be fine.

Fritz, I also have a very chilly morning, but not quite as chilly as you. You're in the western part of PA, right?

Y'all could always come visit me when I go to Jackson this summer.

Their 100-temps seem like 80s.

Well, at least to me, anyway . . . because of the lack of humidity.

But then, AZ is very non-humid (and isn't that where y'all live?)

Hmmm . . .

Nevermind. I guess I just negate that point all over the place.

Unless y'all just want to come out there for a visit anyway.

And I'll be there in June, so the temps won't be at 100 yet . . . that doesn't usually happen till late July / August.
