My wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has had a mastectomy and is taking medication to possibly "prevent" its return. The medication she is taking tamoxofin is wreaking havoc with her antidepresent. I am caught in the middle as are the children. I love my wife very much and will stand by her side. We have been married for 22 years. I just can't take much more. I recently lost my father as some may recall, I haven't had time to grieve as this was diagnosed at the same time. I don't have anyone to talk to, even the men of the church "wish me the best". The Pastor is too busy. I supervise over 60 staff and 1000 inmates in a correctional facility, I can't take the time to stop, I can't hear God through all of the "noise".

Men, will you pray for me. Take a moment and lift me up. I really need you all. Thank you, back to my life. If it weren't for God's strength, I surely couldn't stand today. Guarded.

I will do that. I hope some prayer warrior types will join in too though as I'm not very good at prayer.

I don't know what I can do other than pray. If you are in Phoenix, I'd meet & go fishing with you.

Does your church have a Stefan ministry? It exists to help people get through situations like yours. Or is there a men's small group that could help?

Stay strong. God is teaching you something. Fast and pray seek his face. Keep your eye's on Lord Jesus and you will be fine. But, when you let the world begin to drag you down that's when you lose sight.

Talk to your/her DR and Oncologist about this. There have got to be alternatives... alternative antidepressants if nothing else. They need to know what each other is prescribing, maybe even have a Pow-Wow. If one doesn't know what the other is doing, that can be disastrous.

Talk to your/her DR and Oncologist about this. There have got to be alternatives... alternative antidepressants if nothing else. They need to know what each other is prescribing, maybe even have a Pow-Wow. If one doesn't know what the other is doing, that can be disastrous.

So, very sorry...

I want to encourage you to give LOVE (by word and deed, I mean) to your wife even when you are drained and don't feel like it. I also want to urge you to have periods of prayer when you ONLY thank God for His blessings. Use this time to grow spiritually, and know that God has a plan for you as well as your wife &* children. Stay in the Word of God... even when you are weary and don't feel like it.

I'm so sorry you and your wife has to go through something like that.

I would ask the Pastor not to be so busy that he can't talk with you. That's a large part of his job. You really need someone to talk this through with.

I'll pray for the best.

Your wife is also going through a grieving period with the loss of her breast - what you (if you're like most men) have enjoyed and has been a part of her identity as a woman - She may need some counseling to help her get through this and seek understanding about her ID in Christ, but also just through grief. Some of her "adjustments" and medication conflicts may also be more emotional than medical. Do what you can to understand her feelings, her grief, and any insecurities the mastectomy have have brought about. If she's on meds for depression, than there is more going on in the emotional dept. than meets the eye.

I can identify with what you are going through, guarded. I lost my wife to breast cancer just over 21 years ago. For what it is wotth, there is nothing I or anyone else can say or do that will make you feel better. But know that I will pray for your strength and for your wife's healing.

Bear in mind ... you only have two choices ... fight or flee. If you need someone to talk to, vent to, express your anger, frustration, sadness, etc. ... feel free to PM me and perhaps we can hook up at Yahoo IM.

In Jesus' name I pray that this cancer be gone a rid of, and that Jesus heals your wife and there will be no more cancer in her body any longer. Amen!
