Hey brother earthless! I just noticed a website called equip.org. The website is very informative. However, for some reason, Hank Hanegraff wants to sell books. I wonder why he doesn't give it all away freely to his neighbor as The Lord said and it is written: freely give, for you freely received. Talk about no vow of prosperity. For he charges admisssion for some of his sound Doctrinal teachings. I bet he goes to cancun on vacation. Do you think that the prophets went to serve God, or go to Cancun? I believe that Jesus went to the Cross instead. Therefore, I would not want to presume to judge such a man. For who knows his heart but God? quote:

Yes, I am familiar with that ministry. As for CRI charging for books they sell being a bad thing? One can certainly hold to that conviction, if you're able to give stuff away for free, that is so awesome! As for Hank taking vacations with his family? I am sure he does. Again, if you're going to hold to the conviction that no one in ministry should ever take vacations with their families, that is certainly a conviction you can rightfully hold. As I shared in the Ministers sub-forum, there is a solid reason why I have never received a single penny for any of my work in the ministry and why I continue not to collect a single red cent. I prefer to make my living, provide for my family, take all the vacations I want, based off of the money I receive at my job and so that then when I do indeed do ministry, it is done without any hang ups or worries about how much they are going to give me. God bless. As for this thread's actual topic - the book contains abhorrent/unbiblical teachings which should not be marketed as a Christian book.

ORIGINAL: prophetica Hello earthless! Amen. Abhorrent how the money that comes from the book industry and publishing community does not end up funding other ministeries that are Sound in Doctrinal precepts in other countries; even when it is less expensive to take ministers on salary there. A mere 10% toward this use would go a long way to preaching the Gospel to those who are considered poor by the standards of the world. Salutations prophetica! Amen and praise God for your post! We all could do so much more for the Lord. May our prayer always be for the Holy Spirit to convict us more and more to be in tune to what He wants us to be doing.

How come you never hear anything against the early saints who took 'vows of poverty'? I wonder why the idea that God likes to bless His children is abhorrent to some. Though I don't believe in vows of any kind, prosperity or otherwise. It seems silly to me.

LOL!! For it is written: "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. And: People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. And: Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.' But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God's throne; or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. For it is written: There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. There is neither rich person, nor poor person for those that are in Christ Jesus our Lord. For "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." For: A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him. For it is written: You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today. But these are the true riches that bring the ability to produce spiritual wealth in Heaven. For it is written: "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For Jesus said: concerning whom He declared the Blessed people are. quote:

True, but in the NT it says to not make oaths at all, just let your yes be yes and your no be no. I just don't believe we should take vows in regards to money one way or the other.

The title is thought provoking and has worked, reading this board. I do agree with don't judge a book by it's cover or the author. The truth about the book is within it's pages.

I have not read this book. But the title is catchy. I understand there are 3 areas God can lead us with money. 1. Poverty - serve God with no worry of earthly belongings - Problem if I neglect the gifts God has given me. 2. Stewardship - God gives me money to use for His kingdom. - Problem if I use it mostly for myself and not for the Lord's work. For example if I spend 90% of the money on myself and give 10% to the Lord. Then I am not a steward of God's money. I am using the money for myself and am not a steward. 3. Prosperity - Get all the money I can and use most of it for the Lord's work. Use my ability to make money for the Lord. - Problem money is powerful and will draw my heart away from the Lord if I don't watch my heart with all diligence. Prov. 4:23 Or 4 We don't have a gifting with money. Luke 12:15 "Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions."
