One of my favourite authors is Joyce Meyer. I think she has some really valuable things to teach and she does so very clearly and simply.

Some of my favourite books by her include:

- The Name, the Word and the Blood.
- The Battle Belongs to the Lord.
- The Secret Power of Speaking God's Word.
- Battlefield of the Mind.

Another firm favourite is Stormie Omartian. She uses Scripture in prayer which I believe is very important:

- The Power of a Praying Wife
- The Power of a Praying Woman

I also like Warren W Wiersbe and his 'Be' serious of Bible Commentaries as they are easy to read and understand and I love the way he thinks so clearly.

Leif Enger for fiction. I love his novel Peace Like a River. Or maybe CS Lewis for Til We Have Faces.

For biography I liked Bruchko by Bruce Olson. And Corrie Ten Boom of course.

There are a series of authors I like for non-fiction. Folks like Murray, White, Niebuhr, Tozer.

For fiction, ABA, it would have to be Dean Koontz. CBA fave is Alton Gansky. That Robinson fellow isn't bad either...

For non-fiction ABA, I like P.J. O'Rourke. Non-fiction CBA, John G. Lake and David Wilkerson.

Who, Jackie? Yeah, he played a decent 2nd base, but what's that got to do with books? I still can't find Sock Monkey Blues for a decent price.

I like E Raymond Capt. He is a Biblical archaeologists. Some of my favorite books are Jacobs Pillar and Traditions of Glastonbury. He always makes sense. Glastonbury talks about where Jesus was between his childhood and adult years. Makes you think.

Anything by John MacArthur. Then there's John Piper, Don Whitney, Andrew Murrey and Jerry Bridges. Wow, there's alot of good ones. But I guess if I'd have to go for absolute favorite it would be MacArthur.

I'm going with Max Lucado on this one. He is my all-time favorite author. I'm reading 3:16 right now. So far so good!

First let me state that I hope you take your fav. authors teachings in light of scripture.
Example (this statement is not judging the author but the authors teaching) is rick warrens purpose driven life, I commend him for a very uplifting book but i dont recomend it because scripture was taken out of context to proove a point. If one wants to know about an author go to walter martins apologetics index and look up an author or teacher.
To answer your question John Macarthur, his teachings (so far) have been grounded in truth.
Lee Strobels the Case for...series, these will give you armament in an ever increasing skeptical world that has a growing hostility to christianity.

There are many great Christian authors, but to name one, I would say CS Lewis for:

Mere Christianity
Screwtape Letters
Chronicles of Narnia

I'm reading St. Augustine's "Confessions" right now. Amazing piece of work.

I also really enjoy Max Lucado. Not to say that he is perfect or anything, but I think he does a fabulous job of taking deep truths and making them small, simple, and capable of pulling some heartstrings.

I am still reading his latest thriller Dead Heat. Although a "Mid-East" thriller, the mushroom clouds are in other parts of the world. I've also read his non-fiction book, Epicenter.

CS Lewis probably tops my list. I'm not a fan Narnia, but Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, and others are awesome.

I also thoroughly enjoyed Joyce Meyer's Battlefield of the Mind.

I also enjoyed Ortberg's The Life You've Always Wanted.

And recently, I read Rob Bell's Velvet Elvis. I couldn't put that book down.

There's another book...less known...called...

The Three Kings about Saul, David, and Absalom. It is one of my favorite books of all time. Simple to read. Short. Incredible.
