will start back up again this tuesday. Yeay!

This thread is for people who will watch the show and discuss the episodes. Everyone who's seen one of his shows is probably aware of Chef Ramsay's reputation. The winner of this season gets to be the senior chef at Gordon's new restaurant at the London West Hollywood hotel in California.

I can't watch this show. Chef Ramsey verbally abusing people for the sake of entertainment is really poor in my opinion. If he ever talked to me that way, I would walk off instead of taking it.

The people that signed up for the show know his reputation. They know he is a pretty much a genius not only for cooking but for also knowing how to run the restaurant. If you watched the Kitchen Nightmares show he knows exactly how to figure out a local market and create a unique menu. Some of his personality is probably exaggerated for TV.

I do like watching this show, I just wish there wasn't quite so much cussing; even with the bleeping it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what he's saying...I don't like my kids seeing that. But if I remember it's on, I may watch it. What network is it on? I can't remember.

I allow it when it comes to Fox, since it's on cable. If it was on the major networks, I would not be happy w/ it. kd

Gordon's a sweetheart - try looking beyond the language.

The series of Kitchen Nightmares USA has just finished running on British TV. It was a fantastic show, compulsive viewing, loved it.

Oh yeah! I'm looking forward to the show as well. From what I've learned, Ramsey's attitude is not unlike a lot of head chefs in the kitchen when they are working with other chefs, apprentices, students, etc. I'm not trying to justify the behavior, only pointing out it can be a part of real life for cooks and not done solely for the dramatic element on tv. I remember one contestant on a season of the show said that Ramsey wasn't as bad as what they'd encountered in their previous work experience.

Gordon Ramsey can be compared a bit to Simon Cowell of American Idol. First, both are total cutiepies (hee, couldn't resist ). And second, though Simon isn't as profane, he tells contestants like it is and doesn't hold back, which especially in the beginning shocked a lot of viewers.

Oh yeah, I guess it's not cable. I can pick it up on my TV w/o having cable. I guess I just treat it differently from the 3 major networks. When Fox first came on, it had shows I could have cared less to watch, like "In Living Color". So, I guess I've always labeled it as adult viewing. So now they finally have a few that can be considered family entertainment. kd

I'm just tired of America trying to make lame things more extreme. . . it's cooking for pete's sake!

If you don't like it then don't watch it. Some people like to watch cooking shows. That's why they have the food network. Not everyone can cook either.

My comment was not on people liking cookings shows or not. My comment was on how America has to make everything an extreme challenge, reality tv, people against people, competing in everyday events.

Cooking channel wasn't extreme enough, lets have America's Next Top Chef. . . hmmmm. . . still not cutting it, let's add a jerk of a host.

Really, if you are interested in watching people cook. . . watch an actual cooking show.

If you just want to see people verbally abused, then I guess it's ok. You could just turn on Cops, though.

Hey Miss giggles - you might want to update your original post to have this thread on people who actually watches the show and discuss the episodes. I had to do it with another thread because if not it'll become a thread on why people should not watch it.

I will be watching "Hell's Kitchen"! I can do without the language, but Chef Ramsay is a fantastic cook. I liked watching "Kitchen Nightmares". To me, the real knuckleheads were the ones running the restaurants in crisis. They had no clue about food, service, menus, etc.

I would love to be able to just clean in one of Chef Ramsay's kitchens!

I would just want to be a customer too.

At least he keeps his kitchen clean, some of the ones in the nightmares shows were awful.

I've worked in restaurants before, but I just don't think I have the intestinal fortitude to clean up those nasty kitchens! My gosh, some of them needed to be torched!!! kd

I think that's a different show...that's one where he goes in to fix the problems a restaurant is having...this one is one where it's like a competition between a bunch of chef's in his kitchen and each week one gets kicked off.

The preview commercial is pretty funny. Looks like they have a pretty rocky start like usual.

The dirty kitchens were part his kitchen nightmares show it just came up in the conversation.
