122.) Resist James 4:7 ….Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. God has given His church authority over enemy spirits. Whenever, we read about the devil in the Bible, we are always told to do something about him. We are told, that we are to resist. We are not in the Word told to pray to God, that God will do something about the enemy. We are also not instructed to pray to Jesus to have Him make the devil go away. We are told that we are to do the resisting. God has given His church the authority to deal with enemy spirits. This resistance is not just digging in our heels to temptation, but rather, is an active and not a passive posture against the enemy. Resistance movements are most often noted for their active offensive operations. I am not suggesting that we are supposed to go out looking for enemy spirits, but promoting the Gospel is an active endeavor and if the enemy gets in the way, then in the “name of Jesus” we actively resist him. Say: In the name of Jesus, and according to the Word of God, I stand fast against the enemy, and he flees. Question: Ever been involved in some serious resistance? Hans
