Most people didn't understand my hastey decision to up and leave home to go to West Virginia. To be honest, I didn't understand it either. I just knew that it was something I felt God wanted me to do. So I went. I hurt a few people by leaving, but I had to do this for me. I had tons of support though. As much as some didn't want me to go, they said they couldn't stop me. So with the support of my family and friends, I packed a few bags and left.

I arrived in West Virginia at about 3 am on June 22nd. It was late and we were tired, so we ate then went to bed hurriedly. I woke up the following and stepped out on the porch of the cabin to see that a deer was there to great me and tell me "good morning". It was a beautiful place. I just knew I was going to like it there. Well a few days passed and I still liked it so I went out and got me a job. Not just any job, but the best paying job in town short of working in the coal mines. I was a telemarketer. I really liked it. Although the first time I got cussed at I cried. It makes your skin thick though.

I made a call to a customer one day who lived in South Carolina. Hearing the woman's voice reminded me so much of home. She sounded like one of the sweet old ladies from my church. I made my sales pitch, then while making conversation to her, told her I was from SC also. I told her what part and then began to cry. I realized that I really missed home. Needless to say the lady told me she understood what it meant to be homesick. So I transferred her to my agent. I did make the sale, but at that moment I knew, that I wasn't doing well. Later that same day I called a customer and in the background I could hear a baby crying and I realized how much I missed my family. I missed my niece and nephews and that I couldn't live without being able to see them grow up. Well I got home from work that evening and was talking to my friend M who I went up with. She asked if I liked it and I said yes. Well I told her about all the great things, all the while trying to convince myself that it was great. Then a voice wrang through my head. A friend of mine told me before I left "don't make yourself like it there just to prove something to everybody". When he said it I thought nothing of it, but when it echoed back to me, it meant the world.

So that night I called my mom. From the moment she answered the phone to the time we got off I cried. I knew then it was time to come home. I told her that night, i'm coming home. Well I had 2 weeks left. She asked if I could make it 2 more weeks. I told her I had to, because there was no other way for me to get home, short of spending a ton of money that I didn't have. I went to bed that night sad and alone and missing my family and friends. The one thing that kept me sane while I was there was my friend's music. It gave me confindence in myself and in God. I knew that through Him, I could do it.

While I was at work I was able to witness to a few people, all because of something on my water bottle. I took my Nalgene's (hiker's waterbottle) with me just because I got them when I worked at the summer camp and it reminds me of good times there every time I drink out of them. Well I have decorated them over the years with stickers and kinds of stuff, but I never thought this one in particular would strike up conversations but it did. A simple black sticker that says "Got Mercy?" was a catalyst for me being able to tell about the mercy that God has shown us. Psalms 100:5 says "For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth to all generations". So when people asked, "What does 'Got Mercy?' mean?", I was able to tell them about the mercy of the Lord and the wonders that He has done in my life. I also have a sweatshirt that says "Got Mercy?" on it and has the scripture under it. It blessed me so much to be able to tell people about God. I actually had a wonderful conversation with my supervisor there. Her father is dying of cancer and I told her not to worry, because God was in control.

When I wasn't working, cleaning or playing cards, I spent most of my time in the word of God. I can honestly admit its the most i've read in a long time. Psalms is a beautiful book that gives hope to all the world, its there for the taking, all we have to do is read it. It helped me continue on. I found strength in the words.

Needless to say, I survived the last weeks being there. I just knew I couldn't wait to be home. I arrived today, I never thought i'd be so happy to be here. As bad as I thought things were before I left, they weren't bad at all. If anything the trip gave me time to grow closer to the Lord. I pray that it continues now that i'm home. I can honestly say I had my doubts about my life, and what I was doing with it. I thought that I wasn't important, that I could be replaced. Well i've realized that everything has a purpose, even me. As one of my favorite songs says "you don't have to know where you're going, but to get there you will need trust". I've put my trust in the Lord. I feel that things are changing for me. I pray that God's will be done in my life, to use me as an instrument in His master plan.

So here it is July 18th. I'm glad to be home. I'm glad that have such wonderful friends, that i'd be happy to call my family, to pray for me. I appreciate you all. I've missed you so much. I especially want to thank the guys from Mercy's Well: Brad, Greg and John, and Julian Saverance. Y'alls music has truly blessed me and encouraged me throughout the past month. I look forward to taking up music again because of you guys. Psalm 104:33 says "I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being". I believe that and look forward to praising again.

Thank you all for the welcome homes. I love you all and God bless.

Terri,

I'm glad that God used this time to draw you closer to Him. I'm also thankful that MW's music was a help to you. We're glad you're back and hope to see you soon. You're still in our prayers. I know that God will continue to reveal Himself and His purpose in your life.

In Christ,
John

I said it last night in other places, but WELCOME BACK!!

As I read about your trip, I thought about before you left, you said that you felt God leading you there! You may have only stayed a month, but I feel God used YOU in a great and mighty way. You may never see the results of seeds planted this side of heaven, but you will surely see those results ONE DAY SOON!!!

I love you, girl, and don't you forget it!!

Thanks everybody!

For those of you who don't know, JandCKennedy is my friend John who sings with Mercy's Well. Him and his wife are a blessing in my life. For him to post here means a lot, because he doesn't post anywhere. Thanks John for being so awesome!

Oh hey, I found it! YAY!

Do you know if there is any way I can have my font always be the same color without always having to add it in?

There used to be a way, but they since disabled that feature as it was taken up too much server space.
