Wow! that is truly amazing. David has a ways to go to catch up. sadly, I am expecting him to really shoot up this year. No more stair step children.

One day you will close your eyes and go to sleep and your 4' 11 3/4" son will go to sleep too. the next morning you will awake to find that you are a fraction of an inch shorter and said son is a full 6" taller. **THEN** you will go back to sleep and wake to hear your husband fussing in the next room only to discover that it is your SON.

Oh MY! I remember doctoring that photo- David had/HAS such huge hands!

he is getting quite tall too.

Hey ellie- I was gonna say he was quickly catching up to Jared, BUT sadly Jared has shot up a bit since we saw you 2 weeks ago! Really, pants that FIT in length the week we left for vacation are visibly too short now. HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT?!?!?!

~ezri

We've been having modesty discussions in our house. TL, who just turned 14, has to stop wearing some of her tops. They were fine a couple months ago, but now they accentuate her bust and some of them are quite low. It kind of crept up on us over a month or two, then suddenly I realized we had a problem. Poor girl. Her wardrobe has now been slashed almost overnight.

Oh my goodness, yes. My husband sometimes cannot tell TL and I apart when he walks in the house and sees someone's back. We have the same hair color and about the same length, same height, etc. And on the phone, when TL answers, she has to identify herself, as she sound exactly like me on the phone. Even my husband cannot tell us apart anymore. It throws people off.

The other day Ashley said, "I forget how low Brandon's voice is until I hear him in there singing" LOL

Poor TL. I hope none of those tops were her favorites. Of course, if it's just the neckline there are ways to fix it, but if they are too tight, that's tough. I went from nothing to a D in the summer between 7th and 8th and didn't quite realize that there were things I needed to do differently

Well, Cynthia, you did beat me this morning! LOL--but I showered before I got here, so I am doing better than yesterday. I wasn't going to but an old co-worker called to see if I wanted to do lunch and I figured she'd appreciate it if I smelled nice Plus there are things I want to get started on here at the house. Ash and I began on the kitchen yesterday.

Uhhhh I think I may have just stumbled onto something...

Mr. B called here a bit ago and asked how I was and what the kids were up to and if i had figured out that my dental appt was NOT a april fools joke. I finally asked Mr. B why he called- what he wanted. he said he was bored and trill was in class and he was waiting on his brother who was in the library.

Last night I answered Trills phone because she was not in the room with it and I was and he thought I was her. No he did not say anything embarassing. But they did go on and on for a bit about how freaky alike we sound on the phone. Poor guy is calling her mom LOL that's kinda odd. I did hand the phone to triss and tell her if Mr. B called back bored she could talk to him. She laughed maniacally and said SURE THING!

BUT that won't happen as I am about to go to the dreaded dental appt. pray I don't freak out and that the dentist understands that I REALLY am terrified

Heather is starting to sound like me on the phone too. Anymore when my dad calls and she answers, he's not sure if it's me or her that he's talking to, so he always asks now.

I'm looking forward to the day when David answers the phone and I don't mistakenly think I'm talking to Lisa.

I am praying ez.

I am so surprised that your kids never took you up on that sonnet thing. David got right to work on it, and he doesn't have as good of a deal as you gave your kids. Your kids are very talented that way even.

Did any of you happen to see this?

quote:

Prize Draw Guidelines for HSLDA/NHERI Academic Study

February 7, 2008

Dear Homeschool Parent:

We are conducting a new large-scale study of homeschooling across the United States and would like your family to participate. This project is being administered cooperatively by Dr. Brian Ray of the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI) and Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA). It will be the largest and most in-depth study ever conducted on homeschool families and their academic ability.

To participate you must have ordered a test from either BJU Press, Family Learning Organization, Piedmont Education Services, or Seton Testing Services.

The results will help homeschool organizations better serve homeschool families, inform lawmakers, policymakers, and the general public about the benefits of a home-based education, and encourage those who choose to homeschool.

Your responses will be confidential. All the organizations mentioned above intimately understand the privacy concerns of homeschoolers. Participation is, of course, voluntary but we need all families to participate, regardless of your children’s academic abilities.

To add an incentive for a timely response, we are offering the following three prizes.

First prize: iPod
Second prize: $100 Visa Gift Card, or free two-year HSLDA membership
Third Prize: $50 Visa Gift Card, or free one-year HSLDA membership

Oh well. Mine is too little to test.

Hope the dentist went well, Ez.

Obviously I got confused by the new avatars too since in the March thread I got Zoe and Annie mixed up-about who was making rattatouille!

Judii,
I know my daughter will be taller than I. My teen and young adult nieces and nephew are all taller than me.

I usually have to end up getting the next size up for my blessing in order to get the right length. Dresses especially. Last week I noticed that some of her dressess she now has trouble getting her arms through-they're getting a bit tight-so now she is two sizes above her age.

This is David's Sonnet- first draft:

Was to ride into battle,
The daring knight.
He got his saddle,
In the middle of the night.
He was going to fight
With shield and sword
To make wrong turn to right
With God's Holy Word.
With a prayer to the Lord
He charged into war,
Took blade from scabbard,
Ready to spar,
And displaying his courage,
Fought for his village.

AAAAAH! Now I have to learn about sonnets so I can grade this thing!

I made the ratatouille.
It was pretty good. My son took a bite and hesitated in his response and the look on his face told me that it wasn't what he expected. After he swallowed, he said that he liked it.

Aargh! Sorry Bagel. I think that is the first time I have messed names up so badly in this thread.

How are you doing anyway, Bagel?

Ellie,
What wonderful thoughts in that sonnet! That was awesome!

Thank you, Narnia. David was hoping that someone would give their opinion. He is the goofiest kid sometimes, and then he comes out with stuff like that. When did my baby get so deep with his own thoughts. It amazes me when I can give him one direction (research and write a sonnet) and not only does he do it, but he wrote about THAT topic. It didn't surprise me that he wrote about a knight, but that he made it so meaningful and not silly. He is way more motivated to take stuff like that on than I ever was at his age.

BTW: I got the idea of having him write a sonnet from Ezri. She is such a cool hs mom, and her kids are so brilliant, that I decided to try it. I was surprised though when David actually took me up on it.

Sort of new here, at least I've never posted on the chat thread.

So do you guys all know each other IRL or what?

My boys are the same height and basic size so everybody mixes them up unless they know them really well.

I have no interesting avatar or signature but I enjoyed the "Who Moved My Scepter" title the best.

So far, I have not personally met anyone else here IRL. I think that Jenny-Fair and Cynthia live the closest to me and that would still be at least a day's drive.

Narnia, I'm doing alright. I can't go into details, but lets just say that there is a huge spiritual battle going on in my house. I'm praying and fasting over this. I don't think that ever in my life have I had to be so dependent on the Lord as I am right now. So that's in in a nutshell.

Nice Sonnet!! Kudos to David! Ellie - I know what you mean about him being so silly & then coming out with something so deep! My ds is like that. Sometimes he floors me with the things he says. I marvel that there really is deep thought going on in that head that also comes up with the strangest & silliest things !

Ez - praying the dentist went fine! I have a little dental anxiety, but the MRI thing freaked me out way more & that went well for me, so I'm praying this goes well for you too!

PnJnKids - some of us have met IRL, but mostly we just know each other from forums here. I've only met one person here IRL & it isn't even Sarah who lives the closest to me! I actually feel like somewhat of a newbie & I've been here 2 years - WOW had to look it up, has it really been 2 years! I didn't post a whole lot at first though! I think it was 2 months before I really posted in the chat thread. Now, I find myself talking about these ladies as much as the people I know IRL! I have stopped saying "one of my online friends" though, because some people look at me like I'm a weirdo when I say that! It was funny when I had a friend that we knew in DC visit a while back. I said "one of my online friends" & she laughed & said she was SO glad to hear me say that because she's involved in several forums & always hesitates to mention a friend is an "online friend" because she's gotten weird reactions! At least we know we can say that to each other now & not be looked at funny!

Bagel - it's hard to look on times like you're going through as a blessing when you're in the midst of them, but they are. One line in the kids program we did on Sunday sticks in my head. "Our God is a Big-picture God"!! He is that!! I'm praying for you!
