Reading the Bible every day. That has slipped since I had my DD.

They did a message about it at our church and the pastor gave us a challenge. They had a guest speaker from Hawaii and he gave us a gift of these journals with a Bible reading plan in them. I started to do it but the reading was a lot (at least 4 chapters a day...3 from OT, 1 from NT, sometimes a Psalm thrown into the mix) and I ended up feeling like I was just reading to get it done and checked off the list. Now I have fallen away from reading again so the Spirit is convicting me to just read something! I feel pathetic because I used to feel my day was so incomplete if I didn't read my Bible. It makes me sad that I don't feel this way anymore and I pray that God gives me that feeling back.

I sometimes struggle with doing my daily bible readings too. I came across a bible devotional book at my church though- it's called "Time With God" and it is the New Testament spread out over the course of a year with a related Old Testament reading and words of insights from Christian leaders past and present along with some questions that are related to think about. The translation is a New Century Translation, so it is "easy" to read. I find that it almost always makes me pull out my regular bible and read more! It is a really good thing because sometimes that is all I can read and it leads me into a nice time with God and other times I read so much and have even more time with God. I am very thankful that my church was going through their library and getting rid of old books!

I found something similar to Missleyna on the web. It's the whole bible spread out over a year. I started it on 27 March and with a couple of slips I had to catch up on on other days, I'm not doing too bad . I cross ref with my study bible.

Also been challenged about laziness this year. Made me pull my socks up in shame.

Going to church, seriously, everytime possible. He stressed the word " Habit" when he brought to mind the verse in Hebrews, about not forsakeing the assembling togather, as become the habit of some. The Word " Habit" played over and over in my head. And the part of the same scripture, mentioning in these last days.

Recently - the Lord has been challenging me about going to Him first when I feel stress levels increasing as I often waste time before I do so and do myself no favours as a result!

The old chorus 'What a Friend we have in Jesus' is so apt:

...... "Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer straight away* ......"

It is so true - Jesus wants me to run into 'my strong Tower' (Himself) and not waste time doing so.

The Lord is teaching me that being humble doesn't mean I have to condemn (or sometimes even hate) myself. He is showing me that it is not glorifying to Him to do this, and reminding me of Romans 8:1 - "Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." He is showing me how to accept and understand who I am IN CHRIST and that I can be joyful in this and have perfect peace with it. That He loves me just the way I am.
