At my (private Christian) school, theres no homework on wednesdays, we get out at 2 on wednesdays, and they fgive us 20 minutes in each class to finish the assignments so we dont have a lot of homework, plus study hall. So I usually dont have a lot of homework, except with this EVIL math substitute giving us 300 math problems in 1 day.

My daughter is at a Charter Middle school, they have 30 minutes of CONSTRUCTIVE homework for each core class every night; this translates to about 2 hours of homework every day. I do not have a problem with it because it is not busy work and when asked dd will say she doesn't mind the work because it is important. The teachers spend a lot of time in class instructing, doing hands on stuff, reading to and with them etc. so homework is a continuation of what they did in class. DD has always done fine but she has only two week day activities: piano and bible study. Because she is one of three children she starts her homework while her siblings do piano and on Wednesday, she starts her homework while I serve dinner at church and her siblings go to music. She has only missed two Wednesday evenings this year due to her work load.

The homework I have an issue with is busy work. DS can take a spelling pretest and get a 100% and still have to write the words 5 times each THREE times that week even though he can spell them. That is silly.
