Father God, I humble myself before You this eveining to ask that you will draw Matthew towards You. That You will soften his heart, that he may see You. I pray that You will bring into his life a strong Christian male that will shine Your light to Matthew. Please, Lord, I ask that You will knock, ring the door bell, go around to check the back door, etc, to find an opening into his life. Please do not stop pursuing him in his rebellion. Please help him to seek truth and find You there. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, who is worthy of answerrs, and who can do more in 5 seconds than I can do in my lifetime, Amen

Father God, you amaze me all the time with you goodness. Lord, I pray that you give Matthew some of you amazement that he would see you and Lord, his heart, mind, & sould would be changed forever. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Update~ I'm beginning to think that Matthew's denial of God's existance is out of anger, not because he really doesn't believe. Please pray for breakthroughs. Help me to be a good witness, further- that God will bring a Christian male into his life. Thanks

Father, you are a god of knowing how to open our eyes. We pray for Mathew, bring the right person or influence into his life. Someone to show him the JOY that exists in walking with you and trusting in you. Someone who has a testimony, who has had to endure, someone mature. Father you alone know the right path to take and we trust and commit this to you. Amen

Hi, So I've wanted to update this post and ask for earnest prayer for my friend Matthew's salvation, but my computer crashed so I haven't had Internet access!! [&o] Last Monday he left on a 1-2 week hike in Oregon by himself and my prayer is that God will reach out as only He is able, and meet him there. Some background on Matthew: He was a "Christian" in youth and even did mission work- preaching in the streets, etc. And said he was "born again" back then. His Bachelor's degree is in Theology as he intended to become a preacher. He then got his Master's degree and began working on his Doctorate in Philosophy when he decided that he no longer believed in God's existence. His philosophical exploration has led him into a spiral of questions and false answers, and even some mild "mind expanding" drug use. I met him 1 1/2 years ago and we've debated the existence of God, and the Deity of Jesus regularly since then. Anyhow, I know that I am useless in "converting" Matthew into a REAL believer as long as his heart and mind are hard. Even then, I can only be a tool in GOD's conversion. So my prayers for him have consisted of requests that his heart and mind would be softened, that a strong Christian male will come into his life, that his sleep would be constantly interrupted by the Lord calling to him, and that God will reveal Himself to Matthew in a way that he cannot deny. SO...last Monday he left on this hike alone in nature. My specific prayer is that God will use this perfect opportunity away from human influences to meet with him and speak with him in a supernatural way that Matthew will not be able to ignore. PLEASE join me in prayer for this. That when he gets back from his trip and calls me, his words will be, "I get it now" and come to a deep, personal, eternal relationship with our ever loving, ever forgiving, merciful Savior. It's been 1 1/2 weeks since Matthew left on his hike. I pray that God has met him there and has shown Himself to be irresistable to Matthew. That God will speak to Matthew and BE HEARD. Amen

He's still out on the hike- haven't heard from him at all and I'm glad- praying that this time in nature with no human distractions brings him to a place of understanding that there must be and IS a creator of all of this. God, show yourself to him.

Holy Father, When I spoke with Matthew last night he said he just went back to town for a night to get some more food, say he's safe, and is going out on his hike for another week. He said a lot of thoughts that he's been blocking for years were surfacing (the beauty of not having the distractions of civilization), and that instead of pushing them out like usual, he's decided to confront them head on! For this I praise You wonderful name!! But in addition to this step in the right direction he also stated that he still "can't" believe in You. For this Father, I Praise Your awesome name for making him go back out for another week as he's not there yet. So Lord, please, I ask that no minute in this next week will be spared for the softening and refining and calling to You of Matthew. Please work supernaturally in his life and show Yourself to him. Use Your beautiful creations in the forest, use everything he comes in contact with to point him to You. I pray this in humble submission, in the name of Jesus Christ who is worthy, and ABLE to do more in 5 seconds than I could do in an eternity, Amen

OH PLEASE LORD, keep working on Matthew, I pray that this hike really is what he needed to be alone with you Lord, obviously if he is thinking about some things, he has to know deep down inside that it is you bringing these thoughts to him... What made him all of a sudden stop believing, did he go through something traumatic?? praying!! AMEN ! kc

When he was in seminary and found that many of his theology professors didn't truly believe in God that got him thinking. Then in grad school philosophy got the best of him. He says it can't be "proven" THANK YOU for praying!

Matthew's 3 week hike alone (hopefully with God) is soon coming to an end. I ask that you will PLEASE pray that God will meet him there where he is. And that Matthew will aknowledge and embrace the truth of God and His desire for a personal relationship with Matthew before he comes back to the worldly influences that can make it so easy to ignore God's reality. Dear Precious Lord, I am still praying for this man. I pray that this time he has had out there on this hike has been spent with you and praying to you Lord. I pray that he comes home with clarity and without a doubt knows that you are LORD and the only way. That you DO exist LORD. Thank you everyone who has continued to lift up this man in prayer. I recieved the following email from him yesterday, "I am having a very difficult time sorting through an issue and have not developed enough certainty about my direction to discuss it." I don't know 'what' issue he's referring to, I'm praying that it's GOD! Please join me in praying that he'll not only no longer be able to deny God, but that he will RUN to Him and surrender his life to Him! Thanks all, ~J
