funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/14/2008 11:08:36 AM)

It's a new week and I just started my period. Figures because I had the worst insomnia ever last night. I tried to go to bed early, got back up and didn't go back to bed until after 3 a.m. If felt like I laid there all night long!

What will I be able to accomplish today with cramps???

Plan out our menu for the week
do a little laundry
probably make 3 meals
shower and get ready to go to Sams and Soriana(our grocery store)

I think I can, I think I can!!![:D] Happy Monday girls!!! What are you going to do this week?
I just received a donation to duplicate my new project, "The Love of God" so we'll have to work on the album cover....I'm so excited! Celebrate with me!!! It's a miracle!

LOL...how about start with killing the perky poster!!!!! OK, that would be mean.....I won't be mean today.

this week.....lots to get done....today already we got three bedrooms done...the easy ones....lol. The one left is our son's room, and it is going to take at least a couple of hours itself!!! Hubby is going to hit that with him this week....clean it, clean the carpets, organize it, get the junk out of there, clean the mattress and put it out in the sun (on a sunny day) so it can be sanitized...then replace the plastic cover for it (that's already here, we are just waiting on a nice sunny day that he can get that out to sit in the sun). Also this week both vans need to be cleaned out, vacuumed out, and I think hubby is planning on getting the carpet cleaner after them both...we will see how well his knee feels (he had surgery on it on thursday of last week...but today he woke up and can walk on it without hobbling, so that's good!!!). My personal goals this week are going to be to figure out things I can start cooking to fill the freezer. I already have a list of things, just have to get the stuff to make it all and start doing it. And of course my second goal is to keep from going insane since hubby is home for a few weeks....he gets so antsy and can't sit still for anything, and it drives me crazy after a few days!!!! I just keep reminding myself "Better here then in Iraq!!!"

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/14/2008 12:31:42 PM)

Don't kill me! I'm not a morning person, but you're right, strangely, hormonally perky this morning!

1. What do you freeze?

2. Oh my, I understand. With us being missionaries, we both have home offices and it is scary if they get antsy! You've got a good list of things for him to do.

McGuinessMagee -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/15/2008 5:18:25 AM)

Busy week this week, I've had a nightmarishly large caseload so far this week.

Tomorrow I need to catch up on some paperwork at work before I even start on the new stuff for tomorrow (I need to keep on top of it this week because I'm not going to be in the office next week at all and I don't want to leave stuff for others to do who are covering for me as they'll be doing that as well as their usual job).

I'm washing towels tonight and sheets tomorrow morning.

And tomorrow D from next door is finally going to finish off our lawns.

I also need to organise a window to get replaced. It had had a stone chip for ages and yesterday dh knocked on the window to get J's and X's attention because they'd locked him out accidentally and the chip became a spiderweb of cracks across the whole pane.

I also need to call our RE agent and let them know that one of the walls is cracking (the one backing onto the main shower).

1. What do you freeze?

I am pregnant right now, and the kids are getting sick of eating only cereal for breakfast every morning because I can't cook first thing in the morning. So I am planning on making up a bunch of easy to heat breakfast stuff. I also like to have lots of bread items in the freezer so I don't have to mix up dough as often. So my list right now is to cook and individually freeze then bag all of these things.....
french toast, waffles with fruit, pancakes with fruit (we don't do syrup because my daughter is allergic to corn syrup...plus it's just messy...so the fruit helps to make it a bit sweeter in taste), sausage biscuits (maybe with egg too), biscuits, rolls, bread, cinnamon rolls, breakfast burritos.
I am sure I will think of more, but that's about it for now.

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/15/2008 11:54:38 AM)

I already showered, had coffee/granola bar and devotions.
I'm flowing heavy and hurt but I'm going down for breakfast,
wash down the terraza, patios and water the flowers. Can't do more now, I HURT!!!! can we say **** on here? LOL I hurt!

P.S. It was just the other nicer word for poop, LOL

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/15/2008 10:22:13 PM)

I didn't get the terraza done, but I still better water the flowers up there. I did wash all the dishes! I'm a good girl!

My kids did sweep and mop the floors and I had them get rid of the dust bunnies in my closet. Anyone else have all tile in their house or wood floors? You know what I mean.

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/15/2008 11:52:53 PM)

Yesterday, I had to go to an insurance meeting, and a chiro appt., but did get dishes and laundry done, and I did have a small workout at the gym.

Well, today I got my sister fed her breakfast and lunch,
I gave her a bath,
I got the dishwasher unloaded/loaded,
I got the bed made, and the couch cleared,
I did my work out at the gym,
I talked to my friend A on the phone,
I finally ironed
all in all, it was a good day..

except I haven't done my taxes yet[&o][:o]. That will either be tonight or tomorrow. I also gave up on the bathroom. My mom said the cleaning person could do that tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I need to wash my car.

Thursday, I'm going to try and do some mending.

I'm going to try and go to the gym both days.

P.S. I'm feeling much better!!! Thanks for the prayers.

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/15/2008 11:59:17 PM)

You take care of your sister? Where's your mom??

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 1:45:26 AM)

You really are funny![:D] The way you asked that cracked me up. My mom is here, at my house, for the literal answer..or I guess I should say her house, it's her house, and my dad's house, I just live here. Now as to the long answer...

WAY BACK IN THE DAY, 1996, to be exact, I became very very ill with lyme disease, so I had to go home from college, and not get to graduate in '97, like I was supposed to. For a while there, I couldn't work at all, then went up to part time, and finally to full time. I've done various jobs including retail, preschool teaching, tutoring, and child care during that time. My last preschool job was very stressful, mostly due to my boss, and my mom could see I was getting more and more stressed out, and I could also see that she was getting more and more stressed out after years of taking care of her youngest child (my parents have 4 girls total), as my sister is still at a 4 month level at age 28..she was 26 at the time I'm referring to, so she hired me to take care of my sister, and my hours were 9 am to 3 pm Mon-Fri, with my mom still taking care of my sister in the evenings, although I would also watch my sister any evening or weekend that my parents wanted time together, and it was working out great. I got paid through In Home Supportive Services by the state of California. Everything was going well, and then my mom got breast cancer, and I had to basically take over doing my sister full time, plus try and take care of my mom, too. My sister does come by and help, and our church provides meals once a week, and when my mom was at her sickest, they provided them twice a week, so that's nice. My mom is now in her recovery stages, so she is gradually taking on more, but it is an uphill process, and I still have more hours with my sister than I did before.

Karaboo2 -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 8:29:52 AM)

Wow ... I've just found this particular thread (thank you Sarah) ... this could definitely help me stay more on task!

Today I must:
Find the last 2 slips I need for our taxes (glad we're in Canada where the deadline is the 30th!)
Clean either the living room or the dining room (the other goes on tomorrow's list)
Do a couple loads of laundry and hang on the line
Dinner prep (love my crockpot!)
Make a loaf of bread

And finally .... I need to stand myself in the naughty corner if I come back online before at least 60% of that list is completed!

peculiar_lady2 -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 9:27:55 AM)

ok...cleaning question.....the bathtub in our house is kind of old.....white porcelain that is a bit dingy looking. I usually just use a basic cleaner in the bathroom (sanitizing) on all the surfaces, and I tried using a bleach cleaner on the tub (one that is a gel so it would stay on the dingy parts a bit longer then regular liquid bleach)....didn't work in cleaning it good though. My question is...do you think scrubbing it with something like an SOS pad is going to ruin it, or can I do that to see if elbow grease will get it white and gleaming again? I have never used anything but a soft scrub brush on a tub before and I do NOT want to ruin it....but it needs something!!! So...any thoughts?

Karaboo2 -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 4:16:19 PM)

Sarah, using an SOS pad will most likely scratch the porcelain finish. I would suggest one of those nylon scrubbie things ... it's gentle enough for porcelain, but strong enough to cut through the grunge (esp when combined with Vim bleach gel!)

Okay ... got a load in the washer, one in the dryer, and one on the line, and one folded in baskets waiting for the kids to put away.
Living room is mostly finished ... still have a wee bit of dusting to do, and want to steam clean the carpet before I head to bed tonight. And dh needs to put away his hobby stuff (I don't want to mess with it in case something accidentally breaks/goes missing/whatever.
Dinner is smelling great ... can't wait until 5:30!
Haven't made the bread yet, but did make oatmeal muffins.
Will search for the tax slips once the kids are in bed for the night (that way I can really pay attention to the searching, and not have to deal with "Mommy, she's looking at me!")

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 9:14:40 PM)

Wow, you are oneofhisjewels! Thanks for sharing and I pray that your mom makes a full recovery!

I started watering the flowers on the terraza and washed half of it down when my back started up with so much pain. I think I over did it, trying to do it quickly. Technically, I'm not suppose to with 3 herniated discs. Jesus, heal my back! After my quiet time, coffee and granola bar, I went down for breakfast at 11:30 a.m. I had such horrible insomnia again last night! It's awful! I had to shower and left the house late for my dentist appointment that's an hour drive from here. The dentist appointment was great! I have to get a crown but it'll only cost me $100.

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 9:22:06 PM)

My dentist is a Christian and she doesn't charge me for any labor as a gift to the Lord. She's going to help me start a youth discipleship class on Friday nights at 8 p.m. We'll start that in a couple of weeks after we return from getting our new ministry van next week. I ran errands with hubby and looked at a house but it's not for us. We just returned after he took a hot bath in the apartment. I'm so tired. [sm=popsigh.gif]

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 9:48:46 PM)

OH! I almost forgot. We don't have any water pressure so it's take forever to do laundry! Guess what hubby bought and installed for me today???? A water pressure for the washing machine! $150 and it attaches to the washing machine hose. Cool huh! So, I'm doing some laundry.

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/16/2008 11:45:52 PM)

quote:

Tomorrow, I need to wash my car.

I did get the outside of the car washed, plus the inside windows, and the outside windows with windex.
I did a good surface cleaning in our laundry room/mini bathroom..the toilet got a thorough scrubbing.
I fed my sister 2 1/2 meals..I'll be feeding her a little more soon, here.
I got the dishwasher unloaded/loaded, and the kitchen clean.
I finished ironing from yesterday.
I did a lot of laundry.
I got the bed made, couch cleared, and some room organization done.
I windexed the hall mirror, and the mirrored closet doors in my sister's room.

Tonight, I'm supposed to sit down with my mom and do my taxes.
didn't happen... hopefully tomorrow

I feel I had a productive day over all, although I did not get to the gym, but I am sure I burned plenty of cals. today, plus, I ate pretty healthy today.

I'm not going to vacuum the inside of the car until Saturday, and the only non daily chore that I am going to try and accomplish tomorrow is mending, and maybe work on some needlework. Since I did a lot today, I have to take it easy tomorrow. Due to my health issues, I have to "budget" my energy. I will try to make it to the gym, though.

The cleaning lady did the main bathroom, and it is gleaming! I think she scrubbed every square inch. I'm glad my mom said that today her area could be the bathroom(She only comes 4 hours once a week, and our house is big, so she just does a specific area each time)!

Also, I seem to have gotten into a bad habit of sleeping too late, then getting up and throwing on my robe at 9am, and then feeding my sister and doing other morning chores in my robe, and not getting dressed until about 11 am[:o]. I want to try to go to bed earlier, so that I can get up at 7am, and get my personal hygiene, and bedroom cleanup done before 9am, so the rest of the day, I can be better focused on my sister, and other chores, and be more alert!

LOL...I've already filed, received my return and spent it (though it was only $13 so it's not like it was hard to do!)

Sarah - I was watching How Clean Is Your House, and Kim cleaned someones tub using baking soda and lemon juice and a soft cloth. Would that work on your tub? The two reacted together and bubbled so it was a scrubber, but it wasn't that abrasive. (Please don't yell at me if you try it and it ruins your tub!)

My to do list for today is

-completely clean the kitchen (I made a huge mess cooking last night!)
-sweep balcony and get it set up (now that it's 20C!)
-put away clothes in bedroom
-sweep hallway floors
-dust in living room
-do some scanning and emailing for my volunteer thing
-parent commitee meeting at the Play Centre (remember to drop off magazines to the centre)
-return library books (and pick up some magazines to read)
-Akeelah's swimming lesson

And if the flyers come tonight I'll go through them and meal plan/grocery list for the next week (the flyers are supposed to come tonight, but lately the guy has been coming Friday mornings.)

The slips I'm hunting for are the Universal Child Care Benefit one, and then the envelope with the E-file numbers in it ... if I can find those, I'm home free (and based on the tax software, we're looking at around an $800 refund between dh and myself.

Since I woke up with a nasty migraine today, and the two year old threw a horrific temper tantrum before he even got out of his bed, I'm not planning on doing a whole lot. The older two have gymnastics at noon, and because it is a special class put on for the homeschoolers, the parents MUST stay in the building (so I can't even really retreat to the van in the parking lot for a few moments of peace)

I think today I'll focus more on planning and whatnot, as I can do that in a dark room without having to move too much. I need to plan meals and grocery lists, as well as work on plans for the garden, backyard layout, etc. I'll work on that after gymnastics, while the kids are all in their rooms for quiet time / naps.

I still find it funny that we have to claim the UCCB as income! Ah well. That's a good refund. Dh got a lovely one this year. I kept reminding him that he had to split it with me, since I bought him Wendy's with my refund! (Of course he shared his with me!) At least I didn't owe this year, last year they made me pay back all my GST refund because we got married.

Well, when they first introduced the UCCB, they always seemed to whisper the part about it being taxable ... "Introducing the new UCCB, designed to help families with the day to day expenses of raising a child under 6 ... this taxable benefit will increase the successes of our future leaders .... blah blah blah"

And our refund is only that nice because we have four children .... waiting to see what next year will bring with 5!!

funny_girl -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/17/2008 12:26:26 PM)

Today, I'd like take a walk and do some pilates.
Clean the bathrooms.
I finished washing the terraza last night and started in the coachera but need to vacuum out my car and wash it and the coachera with the pressure washer.
Plan something for dinner. We rented My Best Friends Wedding and I want to watch it today.
Maybe I can start painting a wall in the extra bedroom too!

Ours is the EXACT same way. We've lived here 2 years and it seems like it gets a little cleaner with every cleaning, but it's still not gleaming yet. That dirt is just ground in (this house is about 50 yrs. old). I use a stiff bristle brush and an abrasive cleaner like Comet or sometimes just plain ole' baking soda. Does wonders. The sides are gleaming, but the bottom I just can't get 100% clean because the porcelain finish is worn.

Kerryannism -> RE: Daily Life, take 4 (4/17/2008 1:27:13 PM)

Ladies with dingy baths ... try automatic dishwashing gel. Let a thin layer sit on the surface and rinse thoroughly.

I had a bathroom once upon a time and that was the only thing that cleaned deep.

I hope this works as well for you.
