Bluethread -> RE: Rosh Chodesh (4/14/2008 7:53:31 PM)

Me estranged daughter and her hereditary jewish boyfriend are coming for seder this year, so I ask your prayers. There is great opportunity here, but also great danger.

Anisavta -> RE: Rosh Chodesh (4/14/2008 11:12:35 PM)

Will pray!!
Just offer them lots of love and let them be themselves as you are who you are. Did that make sense?

Look at #10 on this list, and read the article on it. And this is from TIME magazine!

Anisavta -> RE: TIME Article (4/18/2008 4:23:35 PM)

Chag Sameach Pesach

narnia -> RE: TIME Article (4/22/2008 1:30:17 AM)

Yeshua is risen! Halleluyah!

Lapidoth -> RE: TIME Article (4/22/2008 11:13:02 AM)

And He's coming back.

"Blessed is He who comes in the name of YHWH."

Bluethread -> RE: TIME Article (4/22/2008 11:59:29 AM)

Is it the ninth hour of the day in Yerushalem? That is probably when He rose.

Update, things went well with my daughter and her Jewish boy friend. He said he had seen it done so many different ways Yeshua's Haggadah would be ok. He said his family would have two seders in the same house. The Orthodox would go downstairs and the conservatives would meet upstairs. Apart from losing my place a few times and singing Dye-ah-noo way too fast, I got through it. I also learned that the two hours of the seder is too long to leave the chicken in the oven. Her boyfriend was ok with hearing Yesheyahu(Isaiah) 53 and Yerimayahu(Jeremiah) 31 along with Yeshua washing feet, the explanation of the afekoman, and the third cup. The only thing he mentioned as different was that we had grape juice in cordials. His relatives drink four full glasses of wine. Needless to say everyone is very festive by the end of the night.

Lapidoth -> RE: TIME Article (4/22/2008 12:25:01 PM)

We had a nice Dinner this year.
We had a couple from Russia, and a couple from Germany.

We did a home grown Haggada so everyone commented it was different. lol.

FYI & FWIW, it is very confusing to people when the thread title gets changed every so often. I've seen it pop up several times and clicked to join in only to discover it's the Messianic Fellowship thread.

Shalom,

You're welcome to join in anyway. lol.

Must be a destiny thing?

Anisavta -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/22/2008 11:13:00 PM)

We had a wonderful Seder. About 250 in attendance. Lots of good food, fellowship, singing and dancing and a Messianic Haggadah which makes it so clear that Passover is the time Yeshua died and resurrected.
Now this week is the Matzoh challenge since it is the Feast of Unleavened Bread. No chametz. Ah Matzah.

drussell52 -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/25/2008 8:40:56 AM)

Hi and shalom. Nichole from NYC passed this link to me, see introductions. My name is David, drussell52, and for 2 years I have been studying the Hebrew roots of our faith, and got involved in some forums which were rather extreme in my experience of things Messianic. Personally, ISO fellowship with others who are observing the torah with zeal but may be, or may have friends/family involved in the "church". Regretably, the Hebrew4christians forum seems to be temporarily off, and I would like input on starting a torah study group with locals, possibly this fall. Planning to use Hebraic Roots: An Introductory study from tnnonline.net, if there is interest. Advertizing in church newsletters. TNN, FFOZ, and torahclass are 3 of my fave resources, and the crosswalk devotional helpes keep me grounded too. I don't want to offend anyone or be whimpish either, but after experiencing a few months of "those pagans" rhetoric, I am a bit tense and guarded. Easter, Christmas, and Halloween for example are almost "curse words" in my vocabulary as a result of the experienced forums, not here of course.. First, please pray with and for me, second if you feel inclined- please reply so hopefully I haven't fallen on deaf ears. Again my intro is in the introduction section, just joined on 04/24. TTYS and shalom shabbat...

narnia -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/25/2008 2:10:09 PM)

Hi David!

Hebrew4Christians is back up. The leader of that forum is in the process of switching the board from one host to another. Perhaps when you tried to get on the board it was not functioning at that moment, but I was able to get on last night and I tried again before posting this and was successful. The new board looks different fromt he old one-don't let that throw you.

Bluethread,
Glad Pesach went well with your daughter and her boyfriend! [sm=thumbsup.gif]

Bluethread -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/25/2008 2:26:22 PM)

If you are starting a study, I would suggest you use the rabbinic litergical calander. That way you and those in your study are on the same page with everyone else in the world, making discussion throughout the week easier. I prefer to read three chapters of the Haftorah each business day and five chapters of the Apistolic Scriptures on the first day of the week(sunday).

Lapidoth -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/25/2008 2:50:37 PM)

Test your Torah knowledge. lol.

drussell52 -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/25/2008 4:36:14 PM)

Shalom Narnia and all of you. Thanks for the welcome!! I did pose a similar on the Christian Doctrine forum and heard from Graham cracker with a nice response. My goal is to use a workbook for the study group on Hebrew Roots of our faith by Huey and McKee of tnnonline.net. I did send a note to Hebrew4christiasns last week to receive the questionnaire for registering. Looking at this forum, and the index at HFC, you folk seem fairly tame compared to some of the yahoo groups that are messianic, just an first impression. Again thanks, see you at the forums! David

Anisavta -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/25/2008 6:24:53 PM)

[:D] Venture into some of the other threads and it is pretty scary. Be careful!

LBolt -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/26/2008 1:05:58 PM)

Welcome, David

The Passover service went extremely well, halleluYAH!! There was 125-150 in attendance and a lot of area protestant/ Pentecostal pastors. I heard people left out amazed and blessed. There were pastors who are looking forward to next years Pesach. I had to attend a military leadership training course for the last 2 weeks and I missed this year. [:'(] Thank you for your prayers, there are a lot of people who left saying they were not going to celebrate easter anymore. Don't think that your witness and testimony is in vain. YHWH is waking up His Bride!

LBolt -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/26/2008 1:10:38 PM)

Hey Lapidoth why did you sic me back on the "Torah rejectors" thread, if they won't listen to the scripture and history what am I to do with them? LOL!! BTW, SpongeBlog PM'd me a "rebuke" and felt that I was out of line for the way I post. I try to steer clear from him. I don't want to offend anyone.

This is such good news.
It's encouraging that people are waking up to the fact
that even "our" traditions are an abomination, a stynch.

What thrills me is that I can see these traditions as scales.
When they come off, the light is brighter, the Word is even more living.

Sorry, LOL.

I commend Sponge for his "zeal", but it's misguided at best.

He has appointed himself as the guardian against anything Jewish.
I learned an important lesson several decades ago as I was exposing
other things in the church that the "deceived do not know they are deceived."
I was still deceived in the Torah-knowledge area myself.

Except for the "love of God" there isn't much else to talk about in common.
I continue to dig into the Scriptures and the History and marvel and brought
to continual repentance for what our "fathers" have handed down to us.

What we inherit as lies we can't do anything about but to repent and move on.

Not only does His "mercy endures for ever," but His "grace endures for ever."

I think one day, Lord willing, Sponge will see the light. It took me decades
of this way and that way to finally come to a point the God finally connected
all the dots for me. And, DUH!, it was there all the time. LOL.

I had to come back and apologize.
When I sicked them on LBolt, I was thinking BlueThread. LOL.

He was the last one to post after me there and I did one of those grouping us all together things.

You know, We Torah-followers all look alike! LOL.

But, I'm confident Sponge has you in his cross-hairs anyway. LOL.

So, be encouraged, keep up the good work. I'll see you all when the smoke clears. lol.

drussell52 -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/28/2008 8:29:42 AM)

Hi and shalom. Lbolt, Lapidoth, and Marsha thanks for the encouraging words!
I hit a point of discouragement over the weekend in that where we attend church, to "my knowledge" I am the only one pursuing something like torah observance, or interest in Hebrew roots. I'm married and my wife doesn't really seem to share my furvor let alone interest.
Our church is looking at starting small groups, and my idea to do a Hebrew Roots group is just that, and the column I write for our monthly newsletter on a Hebrew word or concept seems to get challenged in the sermons. For example, God seeing his creation as good meant all things were working as they should, not so much good, as in wow that's a great piece of work. So, if we are new creations, we are set to work or operate as we should. The sermons from our pastor infer one is strengthened through receiving communion, being baptized and living in that, and sent out to tell the story so you don't really need much else to keep growing in Yeshua. So much for the advisement in Psalm 1, blessed is the one who meditates on the Word - nonstop. This is gonna be a long one, excuse please.
I don't want to throw my marriage into divorce over this, but on the other hand sensitive to the principle of God working by electing, dividing, and separating. He selects, he separates the selected out from the rank & file, and divides the wheat from the chaff. So, your words, LBolt, were great to read and a dream yet to be relized in my world.
A close friend who also works with First Fruits of Zion, keeps urging
-be patient with yourself, with God, with the folk in your church; God is working. Once you are seen as serious people will start to take note,
he says. Don't mean to be whiny and kick me in the cyber but if I am, but sadly, the one who observed beyond the love of God, little in common, is truly being experienced. I was sad to read and realize from a recent article on torahclass, that though the replacement theology and sharp words are gone from the past in church history, the attitudes from centuries gone by still remain even though there may be small pockets of change from within. Nobody is touting replacement theology, but nobody is repenting and making effort to show support for a "Jewish Jesus" beyond the recent Time article.
I appreciate you for bearing with, PM or reaction via reply, is truly welcomed as are your prayers..
A bit discouraged - I'm afraid to say.
David

LBolt -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/28/2008 12:05:17 PM)

Hey David,

Keep you chin up. My wife and I experience something similar this time last year. I was being drawn this way and she was buckin' and screaming. LOL! I encourage her to go to a Shabbat service with some friends and I. I told her to bring all your questions. The setting was intimate enough to solicit questions and dialogue. As we began to open the scriptures up, the LORD began to remove the scales from her eyes. HalleluYAH!!

For us, with the circumstances surrounding our previous church, we left and joined the Messianic congregation we currently attend. How can two walk together except they be agreed? Amos 3 says. It was a constant warring internally because of what we knew. A very good friend of mine had a harsh rebuke for me and told me that I had "fell from grace" and was "leading my family down the wrong path"...that we were "off."

Begin to rejoice my brother!! You may be coming upon a cross roads with your current church...stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit and don't try to shove the truth done your wife's throat. Continue to love her and study the scriptures. It's the LORD who opens the eyes of the blind... and He does it in HIS timing.

I'm praying for you my brother...

Anisavta -> RE: Messianic Fellowship - Nisan 5768 (4/28/2008 2:27:44 PM)

Hang in there David and hold firm but in love. My husband and I have an Olive Tree Marriage in that he is Gentile and I a Jew. But I allowed him room for the Ruach Hakodesh to work. I kept going to my Messianic Synagogue and to our church on Sunday and then I prayed. And waited. It took a year but the L~rd changed his heart without my help- imagine that!!! Keep walking in what you feel the L~rd is leading and be sensitive to her. Be respectful of her differences.
I will pray for you and your marriage.
