When I was little I remember bragging to people that when we died we became angels.

This is what I believed too when I was younger! I don't know where I heard it from.

I have no idea where I came up with that idea either but it sounded good to me!

Lie: That the bible was written at a certain time period and that we should take it in consideration of its historical meaning

Truth: The word was, the word is, and the word will always be!

CRH,

I'm not sure why you think you cannot post here anymore, just because you do not attend a Baptist church. Many of us do not attend a Baptist church!

The forum says Protestant's only.
Thanx for asking and someone here cleared this up for me.

If you're Catholic (or not Protestant), you may not post in FaithWalk. I don't know what your denomination is, so I can't make that determination.

Now, let's get back to the topic.

Thanks!

Lie: God is a killjoy and the bible a set of outdated rules for anal people.

Fact: All joy comes from God and there are rules to every relationship, a relationship with God being the primary relationship in our lives, hence it has some very important rules. These rules are relevent

Lie: God wanted the Israelites under the Old Covenant to follow the law or suffer His wrath.

Truth: God wanted the Israelites under the Old Covenant to love Him so He could show them grace, much like the New Covenant.

LIE= I came from a legalistic background and therefore I believed salvation depended on faith and living up to a certain standard of works or we could loose our salvation. In this religious system there was no such thing as the assurance of salvation.

TRUTH= Then I read my Bible and particularly 1 John 5:13 which says "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life." Now I know if I fully trust and believe in the fact that Christ dead for my sins I may know for sure that I will go to heaven when I die.
