Girl beaten up: loses some vision and hearing

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE KIDS?

stellaluna -> RE: CNN video: teenage girls beat up one girl, post video online (4/9/2008 10:34:38 AM)

I saw this story on our local news and they made a big deal of how girls are now beating up girls and this didn't used to happen, blah blah blah.

Now I don't know where this reporter grew up, but where I come from there were always girl fights. Maybe not as many as boy-boy fights, but still enough that it wasn't that big a deal. In fact, everyone knew not to try to break up a girl fight because they fight dirtier and there would likely be blood. Boys just hit each other and didn't typically break the skin.

I don't know. It's not that I don't think youth violence is a big deal, but I'm not sure why this particular situation is a big deal, other than it was YouTubed.

Calea37 -> RE: CNN video: teenage girls beat up one girl, post video online (4/9/2008 10:39:57 AM)

That's it; because it was YouTubed...that in itself is pretty sickening.

There were girl fights when I was growing up too. And bullies. But they didn't make a habit of video taping the fights! Guess it's just the times.

Did you see the clip of the mother of the girl who did a lot of the beating? No wonder the kid is like that..the mother basically justified it by saying something like you shouldn't put things on your my space if you can't "back it up." [&:][&:][&:]

When keeping it real goes wrong....

Kat_D -> RE: CNN video: teenage girls beat up one girl, post video online (4/9/2008 10:50:30 AM)

This goes on every day, nothing new! When I helped run a national youth crisis hotline, kids calling in about incidents like this were too numerous to count.

When our children are raised to believe they came from monkeys, why does it surprise us when they act like animals? You are seeing a godless generation in action and this is just the tip of the ice burg!

SweetLittleErin -> RE: CNN video: teenage girls beat up one girl, post video online (4/9/2008 11:16:06 AM)

In my opinion, the girls did this (particularly the videotaping and YouTubing) because it got them attention. They probably got lots of hits on YouTube and even better....made national news. Its being sensationalized, they got exactly what they wanted. I personally have a real issue with the news media's facisnation with all the YouTube segments, where is the real news? But thats another topic....

Amen. I strated thinking this way a few years ago.

Anyone catch the interview with the girls mom? I caught just a few minutes of it and she acted all stunnd that this could happen and wondered why these girls thought this was ok. I almost yelled at the tv, "Because parents don't parent, duh!" Her attitude made me mad. Does anyone know if her daughter really did speak badly about these other girls? Not that I'm condoning their behavior, but there are consequences for our actions.

JoyfulWife -> RE: CNN video: teenage girls beat up one girl, post video online (4/9/2008 1:45:49 PM)

This is horrible, but it's nothing new. Kids have been acting like animals for a long time. I can fully attest to that with all the bullying I endured in middle school.

I remember several years ago (maybe 8 or 9), when I was living in Colorado there was a huge news break on highschoolers who taped their "induction" into sports groups. One was a group of female soccer (or maybe volleyball) players - the "induction" was to have the inductees sit on the ground while everyone else kicked, punched, spit, urinated, and defecated on them. It was horrible, and they showed the tape on live TV. One of the girls seriously injured one of the inductees out of vengeance over a petty spat.

This has been going on in the UK for about 3 years - I mean the specific thing of attacking someone and recording it on their phone. Over here the "craze" is called "Happy Slapping".

No.......... the actions that she was referring to were horrible on so many levels. The comment was dead on.

The actions were horrible. But to call a generation godless for learning about evolution, seems wrong. The girls in the video were, but not everybody.

Just because it seems wrong doesn't mean it's wrong. Kat was right on the mark.

Very sad, and the reason that people need Jesus. What do sinners do? They sin!

Eight kids, and not one of them stopped to think. . . hey. . . maybe this isn't right?

Poor girl.

Whether it's bad parenting, bored teenagers or You Tube, I pray I never get immune to this kind of behavior from anyone.

The point is that in a naturalistic evolutionary worldview there is no such thing as absolute morals and no reason to be "good". In that worldview, why call these girl's actions wrong?

Well, I don't think we can blame YouTube, but otherwise, you're quite right.

Feel free to explain how this is right of the mark.
So what you're saying is that the new generation is godless, because of the fact they believe in evolution. Which means that the teachings of Jesus will die with your generation. Is that really what you're trying to say?

The media didn't pick it up from Youtube- the girls never got it posted- the police released it to the media.

I agree- as a mom of teens, this sickens me... but I know there were similar fights back when I was a kid... and I remember my mom talking about fights when she was a kid... so I don't think it is anything new.

SOOOO.... I was a little surprised to hear these girls might get life sentences (because of the kidnapping charge).

Again- it sickens me, they should be punished, but... life in prison? Seems a little much.

Way to miss the point. She is commenting on a generation that is indeed lacking in morals and conviction.

Also, you're making an incorrect assumption. There is a grand difference in learning about MICRO-evolution and learning about the adult fantasy of Darwinian (MACRO) evolution.

One is true and verifiable, the other is not.
