DanJames -> EXPELLED (4/9/2008 11:21:52 PM)

Who's gonna pack the theater on April 18th?! Who's gonna get EXPELLED!?

unclemonkey -> RE: EXPELLED (4/9/2008 11:31:06 PM)

I think I will wait for the book to come out.

Jhud -> RE: EXPELLED (4/9/2008 11:42:02 PM)

I will be there, and I have gathered quite a crowd; I think it is an important and timely movie.

crm4souls -> RE: EXPELLED (4/10/2008 3:09:27 AM)

We are definitely going to be there!!!

Nothingman -> RE: EXPELLED (4/10/2008 4:23:56 AM)

Richard Dawkins should be there...

PromiseLander -> RE: EXPELLED (4/10/2008 7:53:57 AM)

I think it's going to be a great movie - I've always admired Ben Stein's work and it's great to see a public figure willing to "tell it like it is."

He's seen it and written a review (which touches more on the film's attendant hullaballoo than the film itself).

I can't imagine his view of it is in the least biased. [;)]

PromiseLander -> RE: EXPELLED (4/10/2008 10:45:39 AM)

Well, you can't expect anything good to come out of the mouth of Richard Dawkins. Rarely have I seen a person so overpowered by science that they've completely lost all reason... (For further description of the man, read Romans 1: 18-32)

By contrast, the film has recently been endorsed by Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family and R.C. Sproul of Renewing Your Mind spoke very highly of the movie and Ben Stein in a recent interview.

Naturally, we should expect satan and his minions (and those infected by them) to spout disconcerting propoganda about this movie - it only aids in exposing them, and they hate that. This is Spiritual warfare afterall...

LOL! Gotcha, so any criticism of the movie is the result of satan and his minions. Any and all inaccuracies and falsehoods that one points out in the movie are really just lies from the devil. [8|] I didn't realize Ben Stein was infallible. Aren't you a creationist anyways? That position isn't really very compatible with ID, as it exists today.

Heres a review by Michael Shermer, who was featured in the movie (and is a religious evolutionist). He has some interesting things to say about the people who were supposedly fired because of belief in ID. Link to review at scientific american. Apparently, if you want to see the "work of satan" and his minions, watch Expelled. Last time I checked, being dishonest wasn't a Christian virtue.

Although Shermer was once a born-again Christian, he now considers himself a nontheist.

Shermer isn't a "religious evolutionist", he is an atheist; not that matters, but let's not be unclear about his perspective.

And I think the best way to determine whether the movie is accurate or not is to first see the movie, then decide.

Ahh, I didn't realize that.

Good for you! Everyone needs to bring a crowd! The better the turn out, the longer it'll stay in theaters.

You know, I find it strange that some evolutionists find something supposedly wrong with someone only after it is known that s/he is an ID proponent or creationist (or, in the case of researchers, only after it is known that their research and interpretations may contradict that which is consistent with materialism. Ie: in the case of Gonzalez. They didn't find anything wrong with him before it was known he was an ID advocate, they even gave him the "Early Achievement in Research" award. After it was known that he was an ID advocate, they suddenly find all these things wrong with him and they deny him tenure).

Well, that's because the basis for suspecting one's scientific credentials is no longer whther they have a firm grasp of science, but whether they are in full agreement with all the tenets of materialism; which is part of what Expelled exposes.

Or if they deny global warming.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh, a Dobson endorsement. That means it must be really good.[sm=aside.gif]

Yep, just more conspiracy [8|]. Everyone is in on it!

We all know the ID movements dishonest aims from the start, yet you guys continue to trust them... kinda funny.

Was anything Shermer said about the production inaccurate? The audience of extras, for example?

Well, I INTENDED all that to mean that anything contradicting the lessons learned in Scripture IS of the devil. What many call "science" is actually incorrect conclusions brought about by atheistic assumptions on the origins of life. NO, of course Ben Stein isn't infallible, I didn't intend to infer that, but this IS spiritual warfare - and I for one have been fighting battles of this nature for a long time...

Cow451:
Certainly Dr. Dobson may have his faults, as we all do, but her certainly doesn't deserve your sarcasm. He has arguably done more for the cause of the unborn than any in this generation.

I feel compelled to ask the reason for your disdain?

How is the use of extras in the movie deceptive?

It would be off topic, but he has certainly earned my derision.
