i think those feelings are natural. your son's dad abandoned him for 8 years. it's also kind of mean statement for him to make regarding looks. or maybe he was just trying to joke but your previous posts here have mentioned your self esteem issues, so it doesn't help in any manner. it's good you are questioning yourself by posting and wanting what is best for thing2 and not thing2's mom. i know for me, it's really hard now that i am having to 'share' my daughter a little more with her mom. it's a pain schedule wise and for other reasons, but i know it's good for her.

I don't think he's joking. I mean, he has a 5 year old daughter and now he has an 8 year old son. He's strutting around like a proud peacock or something because of how amazing Thing 2 is and has the audacity to take credit for him. And quite frankly, you rarely see truly good looking kids with good looking parents. Usually ugly parents have amazing looking kids.

Don't let him get to you like that. Just point out that everything Thing 2 has, including his looks all come G-d Himself and that He's done an amazing job of guiding you as a parent. Focus on G-d and perhaps your ex's head will shrink.

And thank you, Trishy. I always feel weird about going to God for the little things but when I do I always feel so much better. It just urks me to hear him say "Oh he gets that from me.." all the time. He's known him a month and already he takes credit for how he is? Idiot.

This is when I literally feel my blood boiling and have the urge to just...choke him. You know? *sigh* I'll keep focusing on Him, and raising Thing 2 the way I darn well please and just let him delude himself into thinking Thing 2 is the way he is because of his idiocy. I know that my child is an AMAZING child of God and EVERYTHING wonderful about him is because of our heavenly Father. Period.

Status: offline 		That is something very hard for me to do. When I was going through my divorce my children were smaller and even though we didn't think they understood what was going on, they did.

Now that I have to deal with Thing 2's dad, I have to make a conscious effort to leave the room or even the house to vent about him. It's very frustrating. I try to do it when they aren't home, or with me at all so I don't have to excuse myself every 5 minutes.

And why wouldn't you disagree with me? I don't mind if you do. *huggles*
