Thank you for this. It says it all when our prayer is that all the candidates follow God's Will. What an honor to pray for those in authority and those seeking authority. It is a command from our Heavenly Father not a suggestion, to pray for our leaders.

Maybe someone has already commented on this.

One of the reasons Obama has such a hard time relating to others is because he's basically been out of touch his whole life. He was raised in Hawaii and Indonesia. Then went to Harvard. There is nothing about those 20+ years of life that someone from a small town in Pennsylvania has in common with that. There is basically nothing in those 20+ years that could have taught him about what most Americans live like. Then add in the nutty rev. Wrong and you not only know nothing about middle America, but now you have contempt for it.

Wow. How condescending. That was actually the comment I used for his comment about small towns not elitest but condscending. And he condescends to us again.

Btw, the word uppity or anything in it's proximity wasn't anywhere in my thoughts. He can read small town Americans minds too.

He was talking to wealthy people about folks they have some stupid assumptions about. (a group who believe they are smarter than small town Americans) What he did was confirm for those people their beliefs that small town Americans are ignorant and DON"T VOTE on economic (translation - use their brains when they vote) issues rather they turn in their ignorance to things they believe can save them.

The "audience" is very important. Look at who he was speaking to and how they view guns, religion and the working folks in small town America.

When you add these comments to the "Price of Arugula at Whole Foods" comment that the made in...wait for it...3...2...1. IOWA??? HAHAHHAHHA. This guy is an elitist... or at least an elitist wannabe... The problem is, IMHO, that he makes these comments to liberals, it's like preaching to the choir. I don't think his comments about small town America are making a big impact to those that support him becuase those that support him are A) Elitist or B) Elitist Wannabe's (those that want others to think they are smarter, better educated, wealthy, and enjoy the "finer" things of life, although they are broke).

I'm sorry, but to the vast majority of people on this forum, a Columbia-educated US Senator who has also been a professor at the University of Chicago is elite.

That's not at all a good reason to vote for him or like him, but his education and background certainly make him more elite than pretty much all of us.

His education has little or nothing to do with it, nor his skin color, car, haircut, house, brain size, shoe size, employment history, current social status... IT IS HIS ATTITUDE. The "I know better than you because I shop at Whole Foods, and speaking of that, I can relate to you, in middle America, because the price of arugula is up 30% in the last year. I can bowl a 37, but when I go to Philly, I don't eat cheesesteak, I order imported from Mexico pork!" This guy is not only elitist, he is a snob and frankly, (again IMHO) he is worse than both of those, he is fake about it...

As I said, there is nothing wrong with elitism, it's snobbery and this attitude of being owed something that should be cause for concern.

Also, arugula is just another way of saying "green lettuce that looks like lawn weeds." You probably eat it all the time, and it's easy to find at most grocery stores- in fact, I remember seeing it at a Wal-Mart Supercenter back when I lived in Illinois. Sometimes, people use big words to intimidate and show how smart they are, but more often, they need to use them to be specific. Barack specifically pointed to Arugula because it's gotten more expensive.

Again... missing the point Blessedinny, it has nothing to do with arugula, it is an attitude, and air of supremecy. P.S. he made this comment in Iowa, I'm not sure that "Whole Foods" has cornered the organic food market in Iowa just yet.
