nicole6598 -> Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 2:19:11 AM)

Ok, my friend and our pastor are getting married in June, and for her kitchen tea/hen's night thingo some of us are putting together a honeymoon survival kit. So in it we have candles, massage oil, chocolate, non-alcoholic wine, foot cream, mints, tissues, some lingerie for her, and we were thinking of putting in a nice movie for them to watch. She doesn't like any movies that have sex scenes in them, so do you know of any sweet movies that don't have any sex scenes or swearing? I was trying to think of some old ones but I can't think at the moment.
We did think of maybe a Jane Austen flick, but any other options??

_Cinderella_ -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 5:02:10 AM)

A Walk to Remember has no sex scenes and I am pretty sure no cussing. It is rated PG.

peculiar_lady2 -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 7:43:33 AM)

I think you should do an old one and a new(er) one....."An Affair To Remember" (Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant)...or you could go back even further and do the movie it was remade after...."Love Affair" (Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer). Then do a new(er) movie that goes along with is..."Sleepless In Seattle" (Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks) (they bring up the old classic movie in this movie, so that's why I said two...seemed kind of cute to have a sort of "theme" going on)

Psst, not to be crude...but do you think they are gonna watch movies on their honeymoon? [;)]

I love Sleepless in Seattle. I alo like Youv'e Got Mail...but I really don't remember specifically about the scenes. You could check the reviews on Focus on the Family...they are great and very specific.

mistichd -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 8:12:25 AM)

I vote for Sleepless in Seattle, but it's a chick flick. He may start snoring and hurt her feelings and cause their first argument[;)]

true...maybe you should stick with the Three Stooges.....lol. That could be a theme too...and an appropriate one...just provide a satin sheet...hehehe. (TD Jakes has a marriage book that I read a few years ago...can't remember the name of it....anyway one chapter is called "Satin Sheets Slide"....lol)

Maybe instead of a movie, you could get her a cd of love songs? Try to offer something for all 5 senses - see, hear, touch, taste, smell.

See - candles (make sure to include matches!)
hear - music
touch - lingerie, foot cream, massage oil
taste - chocolates (maybe other snacks that you know they like?), mints
smell - maybe some perfume, cologne or smelly lotions? Scented candles or room spray even?

We had a basket of this kind of stuff for our wedding night and it was great!

Just thought of bubble bath! That might me nice as well!

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 10:41:03 AM)

The Princess Bride is one of my favorites, even Micah likes it...

But, I agree with Red. Who watches a movie on their honeymoon[:D][;)]

Georgia-Peach -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 11:29:33 AM)

Not to be crude, but I am sure they will need a few breaks to rest [;)]. So you never know the movies might come in handy!

funny_girl -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 11:54:34 AM)

Sleepless in Seattle came to my mind first. He does say that, "it scared the sh-- out of me!" that's the only cuss word and NO sex! I like the idea of the 2 pack w/An Affair to Remember, both are in my library. I also like Corina, Corina with Whoopi Goldberg. Cary Grant movies are the best too! He's funny and romantic. My all time favorite is called, "Holiday" w/Katherine Hepburn, There's "Houseboat" w/Sofia Loren, To Catch a Thief w/Grace Kelly, My Favorite Wife is hilarious either starring Doris Day or Cary Grant, The Bobbie Soxer w/Shirley Temple! National Treasure is cool w/Nicolas Cage. OOOO, Sabrina w/Harirson Ford! Or the original w/Audrey Hepburn. Can I go on?

Georgia-Peach -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 12:46:17 PM)

I wish I knew some classics, but a couple of my favorite romantic movies are "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Runaway Bride". I don't remember there being anything in either of those as far as sex scenes go.

Yeah, even in top form, there's only so many times per day....

I liked Ever After, with Drew Barrymore and Angelica Houston. It's very clean, and quite entertaining.

joeshappywife -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 4:37:38 PM)

I agree with the "Ever After" also. You mentioned Jane Austen fims.
Any of them are great. You can get the Hollywood versions or the BBC or PBS versions. All of them are very romantic and very clean.
Another suggestions I would make would be "One Night With the King". It is the story of Ester. It is a very romantic story and the setting and costuming is absolutely beautiful.

HisCovenant -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 4:40:34 PM)

Ever After is one of dh and my favorites.

We watched Forest Gump on our honeymoon. What a royal waste of time!! To this day I think it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen. We did need a break, though. [;)]

nicole6598 -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 6:04:13 PM)

Well their honeymoon is for 2 weeks, so I don't think they will be able to keep "it" up for two weeks straight :)

Bubble bath, yeah that's what else I was thinking of but forgot.

Sarah- that theme is a good idea
I LOOOOVVVEEE Ever After, and I know my hubby liked it when I made him watch it so that could be a good one. I was also thinking of "Never Been Kissed" with Drew Barrymore, I don't think there was swearing in it, and there is only kissing and I thought it was kind of relevant as he will be her first kiss, hubby enjoys that movie too.
hmmmm, I will have to run these ideas across the other girls.

danas_mom -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 7:37:24 PM)

Return to Me (David Duchovny, Minnie Driver) is a very sweet romantic movie. It has some sad parts, but overall it's just a very sweet love story with undertones of absolute hilarity. Very mild swearing, no sex scenes.

A Walk to Remember, which someone already mentioned, definitely gets a vote from me as well. It's one that just floors me every time I see it.

hehe!!!! I remember our honeymoon and what I thought we could do. LOL I was thinking breakfast, lunch and dinner. Boy, for 2 virgins, what was I thinking! LOL [sm=hammerhead.gif]

nicole6598 -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/13/2008 10:58:01 PM)

I love Return to Me, that's one of my fav's! Why didn't I think of that?!
I think she already owns A Walk To remember...

LOL funny girl... I must say that hubby and I hold the family record for honeymoon "fun". There is only one brother left to beat it, he is only 16 at the moment :)

We did! But we were sick with the flu! So we just sat and watched movies! We were sick so we went to Walmart and bought just some crazy comedies.

Georgia-Peach -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/14/2008 10:22:18 AM)

Erin, that would stink to be sick on your honeymoon [&:]

moon_mouse -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/14/2008 10:37:54 AM)

I'm not usually into romantic movies, but I really enjoyed Kate and Leopold. I can't guarantee there isn't any mild language, but I don't remember anything that harsh. I'm a big fan of anything directed by Howard Hawks. To Have and Have Not (the first movie Bogie and Bacall were in together, lots of great chemistry there!) is a classic. Only Angels Have Wings is a nice poignant romance. And Bringing Up Baby is a classic screwball comedy with a light and breezy romantic side.

SweetLittleErin -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/14/2008 10:41:22 AM)

One of my favorite romantic comedies is "50 First Dates" there is a little bit of crude language (from his friend) but I dont recall anything like sex scenes or heavy duty cursing. I think the whole premise and idea of it is sweet. (The girl lost all short term memory and every day "starts over" for her, but he still dates her and has to start over on their relationship everyday.)

Memaw. -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/14/2008 11:33:53 AM)

My favorite romantic movie of all time is Somewhere In Time.

momma_bee -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/14/2008 11:45:46 AM)

Lake House? I'm trying to remember the language but don't recall any, umm, involved scenes. Keanu & Sandra Bullock, I believe.

I remember complaining about the shaky science and saying that the kids could have watched it, but it may have been on TV.

Hoping that sparks someone elses memory.

The only thing hubby likes about Sleepless is that I like it.

2shaye -> RE: Clean romantic movie????? (4/14/2008 12:57:04 PM)

Just thought I'd also mention that not everyone likes romance movies. If dh and I had gotten one, we'd probably give it away. We NEVER choose romance movies.
