1love1God1way -> Putting dog to sleep (4/14/2008 12:45:17 PM)

Our family is putting our dog to sleep today. She hasn't been well. She has an enlarged heart, and her lungs are full of fluid. She can barely move or breath. She's an old dog, and it is just her time.

I'm doing ok. I don't live at home anymore, so I don't see the dog too much.

But, it's really hard on the rest of my family. I talked to my dad this morning while he was at work, and he started crying. I haven't heard my dad cry in I don't know how many years. . .

I know there are bigger, more pressing needs out there, but if you have time to slip in a little prayer for my family.

I'm thankful we have a God who cares about the littler things in life as well.

Yes, our God does care...and so do I. Pets are like members of your family so I will pray for your family.

I'm very sorry. The loss of a pet can be devastating. I pray for you during this time of loss.

Lord I pray that You bring peace and comfort to this man's family. In Jesus' name, amen.

UPDATE:

The dog didn't make it until the time to take her to the vet and have her put down.

She died under the care of my little sister.

My sister is not taking it very easy. That's a lot for a girl in high school. . .

i am so sorry.....i cried for days after the loss of my dog, and i'm fighting back the tears now.

someone sent me this--i like the picture it paints

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Praying that the Rainbow bridge poem brings you the same comfort that it has brought me in similar situations.

I sent that poem to my family. They got it as they were in the middle of discussing that very thing. It was a blessing to my mom and sister. Thank you for that.

Our Loving Father,
We ask today for peace, understanding and comfort upon this entire family.
We ask Father God that you show just how wondrous You are by letting the family know that their pet will be at peace.
We thank You Father God for the small tiny things in life that are also important to You.
We give You ALL the praise, honor and glory.
We ask all this in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
