Dear Small_Creation, I am a pastor's wife and have been in the situation of leaving a body of believers. I havve also been in the body of believers when the pastor and his family have left. I see both sides here. My first thought is somethings that my husband and I have learned over the past few months. Sometimes God has plans for us and those plans involve change. We on the other hand become so comfortable that we don't want to change. That's when God has to move us.............. Second thought was, Not all who are call by God are called to be "Pastors" but this is not for man to decide. Honey, what you really need to do is first of all pray that God Himself will reveal to this family what He wants for their lives. Don't take on the role of God for the day I'm pretty sure He hasn't handed out that part of the play yet. Third thought, regarding your comment on them they have kids in school and don't appear to have cultivated many casual friendships over their 9-year tenure, I just don't know what to say to her. ? If you are not part of a pastor's family then you do not realize that it is very hard to have close friends within the church for reasons most people do not understand. Just try to understand that it may not be that she didn't want close friends but that she and her husband felt it was best for them. Fourth thought, As having been a pastor's wife leaving, it was wonderful to know that people would be praying for us. Your pastor and his wife are not stupid, they know that there are those who are ready for them to leave and nothing needs to be said about that. A word of advise, make their departing as loving as possible. Try to remember the good they did there and share with them how much that meant toyou. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER share negitive. It is not only cruel but mean and not Godly. Finally, make sure that you can stand pure before God with regards to your heart. If you have done something to hurt or hinder your pastor's seek forgiveness not only from God but from them. You and you alone will one day stand before God to answer for your actions, thoughts and words................make sure that nothing stands between you and Him.
