I'm still afraid to eat creamed corn after certain stories...

I however am amazed that I still love jellies and jams after working in a fruit packing plant one summer home from college...

It took me a while to like jelly again after seeing it made...

I never saw it made. However, I did see the fruit that was being sent off to make the jelly...

You, obviously, have never made it at home. Its more deliciouser than store bought.

Well, that might be true. The riper the fruit, the better the jelly/jam. And banana nut bread is much better if the bananas are very ripe.

Loverly makes banana bread, and she uses VERY ripe bananas for it. But the bread is very good (if a bit heavy)...

It wasn't ripeness that bothered me...

Phosy -- are there any foods that are somewhat indigenous to the northwest that we, here in the south, might not have heard of...?

(Changing topic!)

Honestly, I have no idea. I know there are some brands that I don't think have made it east yet (Tillamook for one) and I know there are foods that you won't find very easily up here that are quite southern (grits for one) but I'm not sure there is much uniquely "northwest". Plus, even different areas of my state tend to have different leanings. Where I live, TRUE Mexican food is huge (because we have a huge Latino population). In Seattle - seafood is really big.

Well, aside from the fact that all you triple venti non-fat caramel latte lovers owe Seattle a huge debt of gratitude...

Oh! I just thought of something. Do you all have geoducks (pronounced gooey ducks)?

Well there you go then! From Seattle with love....

Actually, I've never had them because I'm not a big seafood fan. Basically, it's a type of clam in the Puget Sound...

Clean, sweet corn!

Debugged shucked bagged in the freezer.

I would have boiled just one but I was too tired.

It even smells sweet. Only a few corn worms showed up--you just cut off that end well below them and it's clean.

don't let 'em kid you nobody eats corn worms...i hope!
