BibleL7 -> RE: what bible translation(s) do you use ???? (4/22/2008 2:31:13 AM)

Depends on what I am looking for. I first read cover to cover the NIV then NASB then NKJV then started CEV but found it to be to grievous to continue reading. read most of new Jerusalem, NCV, ESV, Used to use about 18 versions spread out for studies to see how each translated certain verses. When talking with Catholics I usually use NAB. At my second church we used NKJV. My first pulpit Bible was the ESV. Currently the church I am in uses KJV. Using e-Sword I like the KJV+, for Strong's, KJVA for printing, HNV, ESV, NKJV, YLT, trc, DRB, Darby, Geneva and Bishops for parallel study. My preference for the ESV was mainly the paragraph format like the NIV and NCV makes it easier to separate thoughts. Though some KJVs have good paragraph markings it can be easier to read in paragraph format. So far the only Study Bible I have owned is the Scofield as that is the favored of most pastors and ministers I know. The only two I would recommend people to stay away from so far are CEV and Amplified for it seems they are to way off in translating as compared to the other 20 something I have. Just the opinion of a small town preacher
