ORIGINAL: doinkdom I think we should have some linked pictures of everyone with ink, so those of us living vicariously through them can enjoy the artwork from afar. DOINKDOM: I see. You see, I'm not the only person on here who has read your various contributions and come to the conclusion that you show that you have a real and deep seated appreciation for the sheer potentials of ink artwork. You may well be expressing that appreciation in a vicarious way from afar through the ink of others. Understood perfectly. But are you sure (honestly, positively) that you have not ever in recent years had any notion that you might one day cross the boundary between vicarious ink appreciation and actual participation in getting inked (eg, faith related, & sth small and tasteful, if in one color, need take only 20 mins of needling). Put differently, how merely vicarious is your ink appreciation? Take care, friend.

No, I don't like the design. I mean it's okay, just not really very pretty. I've seen prettier designs. And she's not a Christian, so no...not exactly faith-related.

So do you think the aesthetics of all tramp stamp designs that you see are inherently unChristian? I do think some ankle etc tats tend to be faith related anyway. Take care.

(But what do I know.)

(But what do I know.) yeah i saw that reference above to it being higher in that case but why do you think all tats on the lower back have to be 'unChristian'? i am not sure what you are getting at but that spot is visible even outside of the bedroom even. not even counting the beach, womens clothing style frequently exposes that area of the body making it visible. also if reserved for the bedroom, there could be some applicable designs nonetheless.

I was following on from a previous poster and not necessarily stating it. I have usually seen ref.s to 'tramp stamps' as meaning lower back tattoos, anyway.

yes lower back is generally the definition ... i think other poster meant it's not faith related because the person is not a Christian, not because of location.

I think it used to be when t-shirts that showed a back midriff were more unusual, that tramp stamp tattoos would have been regarded as more unusual too. But if we had a dollar for every time a chink of a pastor's wife's or grandmother 's lower back showed between her blue jeans and t-shirt, when leaning forward, we would be rich I guess; what I mean is that shorter t-shirts that sometimes show a slit of back when the person is leaning forward are far more widespread these days. (I'm not necessarily arguing one way or the other about such t-shirts.) Two cents'.

agreed ... i help out in youth group and some of the more modest girls hold their shirt down or put their hand there to what block the view. but almost all of them either expose or are very obvious about trying not to so a lot has got to be the clothes ... thinking now of a barlowgirl song: Pay so much for clothes so small Was this shirt made for me or my doll? Is this all I get?

Without arguing one way or another, but for similar reasons maybe again navel rings are kind of more mainstream bc it used to be that the midriff area was seldom seen, but you do see more - and more inserted barbells -. I think that youth groups need to keep concentrating on the inward and spiritual.

I third it. I had never even heard that term until I arrived at CW. Consider it banished.
