In Is 14:12, the morning star is referring to Lucifer.....

In Rev 22:16, the morning star is referring to Jesus

The first animal sacrifice ... was performed by the One Who created life. See Genesis 3:21.

Notice what this sacrifice provided: a covering for the consequence of sin. Also note that without the shedding of blood, there would be no covering.

May we put on Christ as Adam and Eve put on the "garments of skin" provided by God.

You mean "eye of the needle"?

The "eye of the needle" was a small city gate that was too small for a camel to pass through (A. Just, Luke 9:51-24:53, Concordia Publishing House, 1997, p. 699 n. 21)

I just want to make a quick point. . . there is ZERO evidence that there was such a city gate. Even if there was, it was not called "the eye of the needle." No one even considered this an option til hundreds of years later.

What Jesus said about a camel and a needle, he meant.

It doesn't have much meaning, other than when I was little, I assumed he was white like me. I mean, that's how he was drawn in my "My First Bible" picture Bible.

Psalm 117 is the shortest Chapter of the Bible.

Psalm 119 is the longest Chapter of the Bible.

Psalm 118 is the central Chapter of the Bible.

There are 594 Chapters before Psalm 118.

There are 594 Chapters after Psalm 118.

The Central verse of the entire Bible is Psalm 118 verse 8:

There 1188 Chapters in Psalms other than Psalm 118 & the central verse of the entire Bible is Psalm 118:8.

Anybody know of any significance in 118 or 1188?

-
Psalm 118 is the central chapter of the Bible wedged between the longest & the shortest chapters of the Bible.

Does this indicate something about the center of the Lord's will?

God filled Elisha so full of His Spirit & Divine Power that it was even in his bones.

2 Kings 13:20-21 (NIV)
20 Elisha died and was buried. Now Moabite raiders used to enter the country every spring. 21 Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man's body into Elisha's tomb. When the body touched Elisha's bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet.

Prophet Isaiah went around naked for 3 long years, prophesying in the body language.
Who wants to be a prophet if that is a part of a prophet's life?

quote:

Isa 20:1 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;

Isa 20:2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

Isa 20:3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

Praise confuses the enemy and gives God's children victory, e.g. the large and mighty armies of the Ammonites and the Moabites fled when Jehosaphat appointed singers to lead the much smaller army of the Children of Israel into battle against them (see II Chronicles 20:1-29).

Praise can have an astounding effect. If only our church leadership could get a hold of this ~
Praise confuses the enemy and sets the stage for God's Word to be fulfilled! Praise leads the way for victory ~ Get praising folks!

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

God teaches us that the Spirit brings life while the Law brings death. He gives us an example of this by comparing the day of Pentecost with the day at Mount Sinai when Moses brought down the law.

When Moses came down from the mountain with the Law written on the tablets in hand and discovered the people worshiping at the alter of the golden calf he commanded the Levites to kill every man his friend, and every man his neighbor, and about 3000 were killed.

Exo 32:28 So the sons of Levi did as Moses instructed, and about three thousand men of the people fell that day.

Now compare that to Pentecost when God gave the Holy Spirit and Peter gave his sermon 3000 souls were saved that day.

Act 2:40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation!"
Act 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

As a matter of fact there are a number of comparisons between these two days.

1.There it was the start of the nation of Israel, here it is the start of the church.

2.There it was the trembling mountain, here the trembling house

3.There the flaming mountain, here the flaming tongues

4.There the noisy thunderings, here the sounds of many tongues

And for those of you that did not know, Pentecost was a Jewish national festival called the Feast of Weeks.

David didn't kill Goliath with a stone. Re-read 1 Samuel 17:51.

- HE ran over and pulled Goliaths sword from it's sheath. David used it to kill the giant and cut his head off.

I always thought that the stone killed him.

1Sa 17:50 Thus David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and he struck the Philistine and killed him; but there was no sword in David's hand.
it looks like David killed Goliath 2 times!!!

No, stampinlady is right.

1 Samuel 17:50-51

So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David. Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith.

'Slew' according to Strongs concordance (4191 muwth) may mean 'killed' but it may also mean 'destroy', depending on the context. It is likely, therefore, that the 'slew' in verse 50 means that David destoyed Goliath and in verse 51 he killed him. Ironically, Goliath was killed by his own sword.

this is what I like about these forums... sometimes they challenge us to re read, to study what we might have been over looked, to look at the original language.
it could be killed and then chopped, OR bonked and then killed.

thanks SS!!

Food was the enticement used to cause Adam and Eve to sin (Genesis) and which led to the fall of mankind. Jesus begun His earthly ministry - to redeem us from sin - by abstaining from food! (Matthew 3:6 - 4:11).

I read about this interesting comparison in J Franlin's book "Fasting".
