Ephesians4_32 -> Clear Word Bible (4/18/2008 1:25:58 PM)

Have you heard of it? What do you think of it?

I looked it up on the internet [sm=comp02.gif]and saw that it is a paraphrased translation. I am weary of paraphrased bibles because sometimes verses are taken out of context and don't relay the author's intended meaning.

I have a Living bible which is paraphrased but I also have KJV and NIV and cross-reference frequently.

KJV and NIV have been found to be the closest translations.

I think it's a perversion of the truth. [&o]

^ That could possibly be so, you have to be careful. Feel led by the Spirit on what you feel is right.

i agree that it is perverted...it includes passages from some of Ellen G. White’s writings.

JordanW: "Feel led by the Spirit on what you feel is right."

Yes, but you need to be VERY careful with that mindset. Too many times Christians follow their 'feelings' and emotions, and then label those as being led by the Holy Spirit. The way you discern your feelings from the leading of the Holy Spirit is to confirm the leading of the Holy Spirit with God's Word, and the CWB is NOT that Word! In my own advice, I'd stick with the KJV. I'm a high school student, and one who has read the KJV my entire intellectual life, and has not had one problem understanding it in all. It's not as difficult as people make it out to be.

But to be back on topic, and to answer the OP's question, be VARY careful where your feelings and emotions take you. "Feeling" good when reading the CWB, or Homer's Iliad doesn't make it or them God's Word.
